I could kiss this season's designer's hands for coming through on the costumes. What I've seen so far has satisfied my inner costume gremlin and had serenaded it with sweet songs of awesomeness! Can't wait for our Game of Queens reviews once the season starts.

The headdress worn by Alicent looks inspired by those worn in the English Tudor period.

reminds a bit of french hood yes, fitting since the story is inspired by English medieval history

Working in the costume department of that show must be so much fun. The materials and designs are to die for.

I raraavis, I have a guest on tomorrow's livstream who worked on HOTD S2. She can't speak to the specifics on the show, but she will talk about working as an embroidery artist in TV and film. Please let me know if you have any questions for her.

If I was 25 years younger, I would be dieing to know, how to make a career in that industry 😅
Bit late for me (and I'm not even on the right continent) but I'm sure other young artists would be interested in that.
What's a typical day in a job like that? How does one plan costumes like that, where every little detail needs to be just right, but you also need to mind strict deadlines? Especially when people from several disciplines need to work on the same outfit. Like a seamstress, an embroiderer, a metalsmith and so on. It must be an absolute frenzy, as the actual filming days looms ahead.
And how does it feel, if you worked for weeks and weeks on something, only to have it barely visible for 20 seconds in a badly lit scene? That must be so frustrating, something!

SO glad the costumes have improved. And I'm pumped that it looks like there's a lot more Michele Carragher this season. Her work was my favorite part of the GoT costumes. I can't wait to see close-ups, it looks exquisite.

I'm super excited to see all of the costumes this Season! I speculated that most of the issues with the S1 costumes (like modern undergarments and less-than-ideal fits) were probably due to the pandemic and "on the fly" decisions being made during filming. The behind-the-scenes material from the first season made it seem like the Designer had to do almost everything remotely, and that there wasn't very much opportunity for proper fittings or sny problem-solving on set. Nothing against them, because I can't imagine how difficult that must've been, and I think the vision was definitely there to see. It's just unfortunate that it worked out that way. Anyways, I'm glad that the Designer this season had the ability to be more "hands-on," and it clearly shows, from what I've seen thus far. Looking forward to your Analysis as the new season airs!

@@Costume_COabsolutely! I also wanted to add (though I didn't really notice it until you pointed it out) that the wigs do seem to look a lot better this season. I'll have to look into it, but I wonder if they added someone to the team who specializes in wigs for people of color or something, because particularly Corlys' wig pulled back like that looks quite natural in my opinion (we know it's a wig obviously, but I think it would actually be kind of hard to clock if it were more gray instead of white). The twins' hair looks better too, so I hope they really did get someone in the department that specializes in black hair/wigs, cuz while it wasn't _terrible_ (for the most part) in the first season, it wasn't really great either.... Lol 🤷

I really enjoyed this video. Yes, I agree with you, the costumes are better this season. And still, I miss the richness of the early seasons of GOT.
From last season, I liked Rhaenyra´s black gown with the double collar (one black and one red) and the two dragon embroidery on her belly and from this season so far Rhaenyra in that gown with the prominent big dragons on her shoulders.

Season 1 featured some gorgeous costumes alongside the more underwhelming ones. From what we've seen of S2 so far, they seem to have taken what worked well in S1 and carried that over. Here's to hoping the costumes we've yet to see continue that trend.

I *do* think that a lot of the costumes, armour, & jewelry for s2 are quite impressive in their look & fit... but I'm still so disappointed by the original choices made with the Conqueror's Crown, every time I see it - it was so clearly described in the book -- I _could_ live with the shape change, if only there wasn't just a single, tiny sad ruby there- all on its' lonesome. If there's a Conquest show or movie- I sincerely hope that those spaces are filled, & their loss is explained by an act of spite, or the desperate need for a cash-infusion, or something....

Hi Crimson, I am really sorry. My editor was using that as an overlay so that we wouldn't get a copyright strike. I will give him that note. If you skip ahead to 1:09, we are just using still images there and there should be no flashing.

These costumes do look beautiful but I feel like there isn’t enough difference to show the passage of time between HOTD and Game of Thrones. At least not with the Blacks. It feels more as though 50 years have passed not 200.
