Some of these songs deserve to be bigger hits..its criminal that a song like Nothing really matters peaked at 93...even the power of goodbye is better than everything on radio today...wow
Warner were often horrible at promoting her. "The Power of Good-Bye" would have been a top10 hit, but they didn't release a Maxi Single, for example.

WB’s rollout of the singles, especially NRM, was abysmal. It was released 13 months after the album was released. The average length of time between ROL singles was 16 weeks, whereas for True Blue, the average was 11. They simply didn’t get the single out quickly enough after ROL peaked in its first week.
The absolute queen! And she had all these hits without being a featured artist and with actual SALES!
Well of course lol. Features weren't that popular then and streams were non-existent. Every big pop star is acclimated to the time period they came out in.
What I'm trying to say is Madonna and any other true musical legend is so much more than their chart stats and numbers. This information is kinda interesting to look at but is the least of significance at the end of a career.
I think it’s more worth noting that she wrote or co wrote and co produced 98% of her hits.

Her songs in the 2000s deserved a much better chart performance, many of them are much more memorable than most of the songs and artists that were red hot on the charts during these years.
Agreed. At least she was still going strong here in the UK throughout the entire decade almost all he singles went top ten. From 2010 her singles started to struggle though, barely making the top 100. I'm also surprised American Pie only peaked at 29. It reached number 1 here.
@@shakz86 "American Pie" reached that position on airplay alone, which is not too shabby. A physical single wasn't released - same with "Beautiful Stranger"
Well you can see that the America's in the zero's/2000 only cared about rap music, madonna didn't stood a chance against those stupid horrid rap songs.

@@ethypoo No one wanted Faux R&B in the States. It was the kind of music that wouldn't get radio play on the radio formats it's made for because it's coming from an artist who generally doesn't make those kinds of records.

Shocking:
1. Holiday #16. It is truly the proof that having a #1 single means nothing at times. This song is one of her most memorable hits. Still remembered and legendary nowadays.
2. La Isla Bonita #4. Same logic. It is way bigger and more iconic than some of her #1s. #1 songs are the best selling songs in just that week and not always necessarily the actual biggest hits.
3. She didn't film a video for "Rescue Me" 🤬
4. Erotica had a huge number of tracks with so much potential as hit singles. "Why's It So Hard" being my first choice.
5. "Rain", " Bad Girl", "Bedtime Story" "Human Nature", "Nothing Really Matters". Pure avant garde artistry, creativity and quality that was underappreciated in the US 👎. Success and quality don't always go together.
6. "Frozen" #2. Damn Titanic, always hated that ***ing movie.
7. "Beautiful Stranger" top 20 😑. Europe has just more taste.
8. "Music" era, I've always hated that she didn't release "Paradise", it wouldn't have been a hit but who cared at that point. Artistry > Success
9. Don't make me comment about "American Life", one of her greatest albums ever. 🖕
10. "Hung Up" #7 😂. 🖕US Radio stations.
11. 2010's decade, so many wrong singles that is almost unbelievable.
Frozen was blocked by All My Life
Also Rain wasn't really underappreciated, it went to the top 15

Wondering why Hung Up did not become no. 1 in America/Billboard but became no. 1 worldwide.
Bcoz of the backlash of American Life video and conservative and pro Bush radio branded her as a traitor basically and didn't want to give her airplay because of her anti Iraq war stance and you know now how that ended. Still, Hung Up was so hot it still managed to crack the top 10 despite less airplay..

One of my favorite songs, "Get Into The Groove", was not available as a single. It was the "B" side to the single, "Angel". Therefore, it was ineligible for the Hot 100. I feel that it would have peaked at #1 or #2 easily.
In Belgium was Into the groove a number 1 hit.
that was a very big mistake why they did not release Into The Groove as a separate single, my guess, too, it would easily climb up the no. 1 or no. 2 spot that time or even within Top 5.
Huh, In the Netherlands Into the Groove was her biggest 80ties hit? It peaked at number 1, and put Tarzan Boy from Baltimora off the number 1 easily.

Thanks for reuploading this Madonna Charts, I use to watch this alot back in 2016/17
I remember when her first hit “Holiday” first hit the airwaves and I just thought oh, another one hit wonder with some contrived name like Madonna. Then she had a follow up and then another and another - and then I realized she wasn’t going away. I think she is great as a performer and unparalleled for reinventing herself and for her creativity and longevity. Very average as a vocalist however.
Here's the irony. She was actually the competition to the more "successful" one-namer at the time. I'm talking about Shannon, who went to #8 with Let The Music Play, and that's pretty much it for her.
@SWLinPHX Your opinion, not a fact, but no she doesn't have the biggest octave range but so may singers don't have a huge octave range. She is a great vocalist, not the highest octive range, but she has proved that she is a great singer over and over for decades; numerous live performances proving that she has a great voice. WAY better than "average."
so basically her first hit ever was luck star in 1984 (or holiday, whatever) and her last hit song was Give Me All Your Luvin in 2012. WOW, after almost 30yrs in the music industry, she still managed to have hit songs. And people say she lost her relevance in 2000

Another single that has a chance to be #1 in USA was Into The Groove, but the Warner executives are afraid it would clash with Dress You Up and Angel....too bad fro them because Into the Groove is another global hit.

Later in the 2000s it was bout the digital single download. Also keep in mind the music in the 2000s changed...teen bands and hip hop Music took over the air waves. Much like today. Madonna was still trying to compete with the new artists. Many of her new hits were not played on the radio. Lacked Of promotions and radio play 📻 damaged sales causing it to not be a huge hit like her earlier songs. Today on the radio we only hear the same top 10 hits from the 80s. Holiday, Lucky Star, Boaderline, Like A Virgin, Material Girl, Live To Tell, Into The Groove, Papa, Crazy For You & Like A Player. Everything Is so different than before.

So Dear Jesse, Oh father, Fever, Hollywood, Love profusion, ghost town and not one song from Madame X charted, that's sad. Those are good songs though, but I can see why they didn't chart.

It's almost embarrassing to watch all these older artist still trying to be relevant . If these artist just stop trying to act 30 years younger and just come out with songs without gimmicks they would be far more successful. Having said that , Madonna was innovated and paved the way for many artists today. Her concert sales are unparalleled by any of the divas and that is where the money is well that and songwriting (where Mariah makes boatloads of money).
Not true! Did you see Ghosttown, Nothing Fails, Miles Away, Crave, Love Profusion, Masterpiece ect.. on the charts? Perfect example.. look at the Rebel Heart singles. BIM is the only one to chart in the top 100! And BIM was her most viewed video on YT (La Isla Bonita just recently knock it to her 2nd most viewed)
@@JUSAGUYNKY OK. I must confess some of those you listed are great in a couple of cases are better than her older stuff. I do like some of her recent mainstream stuff but I just cringe when I see a 60 yo woman wear fishnet stockings corsets, and bustiers. She's a beautiful woman and doesn't need to do all that. Having said that she always was avante garde with her fashion but c'mon.
