My lack of patience has almost led me to disregard Burrough's writing and speaking. Once I got over that and relaxed, I realized it is wonderful.

Exactly. 👊🏻 congratulations! It’s quite a gift to take on Burroughs. Such a wonderful writer and speaker.

That slow opiate drag, paired with a verbose man will do that...his mid Atlantic accent captivates me though. This is exactly how well spoken, with the same cadence, I hope to have has an old guy.

I see your comment and, trust me,
      it's not special.
YOU on the other hand, probably
are "Special" ... as in Downsy Special.

The Wishing Machine.. a brilliant plot for a story if ever there was one.. William Burroughs gives aspiring writers so many ideas and material. I like his reciting of the cautionary story of the monkey's paw three wishes. These two story elements could be fused together. A 'careful what you wish for' scenario. Perhaps having to keep using the wishing machine to 'undo' previous wishes or re-balance things that change until eventually it breaks or something goes horribly wrong. I imagine the wishing machine would be a dusty old oriental looking curio found in a little backstreet antique store run by an elderly Chinese man who is reluctant to sell it ;-)

actually, an interesting fact. William was the last person that Kurt Cobain spoke to on his phone before he died.
And an invention of Gysin's was in his basement.
Things may connect more than most will ever know.

Indeed!! ??? ~ I am convinced, far beyond ANY doubt, so as to raise no question what so ever, that the 3rd line "The Bottom Line" of your comment is component to & stems from one of the greatest, and most profound Truths about the world in which we live, the Universe, ourselves & our understanding of the positioning and relative connection We have with the world at large. What we can KNOW for CERTAIN about the circumstances of life is about ZERO. However the sentiment of Your "Bottom Line" is one of the few things we may be sure of. Here is wisdom of great Value.

Superb comment! When we get right down to it, there is no way to even prove that "12 inches is a foot"...that the house across the street is not there until you peek out of your blinds to confirm. I have had two experiences (no drugs involved at the time) that prove there are many parallel realities, one of these was co-experienced by my wife on the other end of a phone call, and even this is proof of nothing! Perhaps, and this is just something I apply to myself, the only reality is that of character, soul intention...ahh, who knows?

Who the hell do you think you are? Your comment is breaking your own rule...I mean to say, you are not talking about "What he is saying", just criticizing someone's harmless comment. Get over the notion that you are the arbiter of All Things Proper in the comments.

    I do love Burroughs.
But he is an out and out horrible, annoying speaker. His readings are good when you get used to his voice, but the speaking engagements he did were just awful.
