Two hours well spent. I disagree with some of the things he says about comics, but so what. The first half really is a magical experience, and if it was all in Moore's head, wow, what a head! The second half demonstrates his enormous integrity and groundedness, and his love for Steve Moore. We should all have such a friend.

I don't think even Moore would say that all the people he had to deal with were assholes, although the assholes were mainly in charge. I think he respects Karen Berger, for example. Good interview. Reading Jerusalem at the moment and its such a good read. Its a joy to read. Watchmen was great and interesting to hear his take on the aftermath. Get his swamp thing books.
Fascinating. What he says about magical experience is true, although he understates the dangers. I'm not sure if a lighthearted book on magic ritual is a good idea. It's only a fact that people have been driven mad by it. There is a reason why magic books are generally so hard to read. I guess that's changing now. The danger in magick is to the ego. Since we now have a world being run on ego, then spreading magick can only be a good thing. People are already being driven mad by everyday society. Just trying to earn a living and navigate the sea of media-brainwash and black sorcery being pushed at them from all the ruling elites. Weird thing, I went to sleep with UA-cam playing videos about board games and I had a dream that I was in a hotel and the hotel porter insisted that I partake in a magic demonstration for some of the staff in that very same hotel room I had only just checked myself into,, cue bizarre turn of events. Then I woke up and this Alan Moore video / pod cast was playing at the part where he discusses his experiences with 'magic'.

when Moore is describing his spiritual experience, he talks about how he found the entity to be charming, and a bit fun. It's humorous to me that the Goeta explicitly warns that Asmoday is a demon prone to deceive and betray those who call him, if the summoning has not been preformed properly. Furthermore, I suggest everyone google "asmodeus alan moore" to find his beautiful illustration of the entity.

I had an experience like this. I had to forcefully prevent something from forcing itself into my mind. I had to forcefully shout ( in my mind) at it to go away. Then something invisible walked across my bed. It felt like a small creature. I was completely freaked out. I mentioned it work the next day and I found out another engineer had the same experience a month before and vowed he would never stay there ever again. I’ve stayed a lot but it’s a particular room and all of the rooms above it. I did some research and the hotel is built on an old Roman fort! The room is 111 ( and 211 and 311) at the Westerwood in Cumbernauld, Scotland.
Jesus, I just listened to the bit about Glycon. A snake ( a small creature I sensed). It was popular around the same time the Antonine Wall (140 Ad) was built in Scotland and the hotel is next to the wall. Glycon was associated with money and you won’t believe this ( you can google) but people have bought houses in the area to dig up the cellar in search of Roman treasure and have found hoards of gold!!! The houses are built on top of the Antonine Wall!! Please relay this info to Alan.
I only found out about the Watchmen because I heard about the movie, I did read the comic first though so in a way the movie has done some good when it comes to making a new generation of people aware of the comics. Of course the movie wasn't as good as the comic, but if it wasn't for it I never would have known about Alan Moore

Watchmen is by far the best comic book ever made that even people who hate comics can get into. This is because all the Watchmen characters are more realistic versions of typical comic book heros, AND critical parodies of them at the same time! Night Owl is washed up Batman, Dr Manhattan is a detached inhuman Superman, The Comedian is a brutal sadistic Captain America, Silk Specter is a burnt out Wonder Woman, Rorschach is nihilistic inversion of The Spirit, and Ozymandias serves as the ultimate villain of the piece in so far as he thinks he is doing good, no matter how horrible he is, and how many people he kills, which is the worst kind of evil of all. Thats why its the greatest comic book 'hero' story ever written. And thats why Alan Moore is a genius story teller.
Dr Manhattan is the reverse Superman. Superman is a non-human god who gains humanity. Manhattan is a human who becomes a god and loses his humanity. Rorschach is more Batman: an insane street vigilante who doesn't care how much pain he inflicts on who he considers criminals.
Yes. But you see, I for one don't *believe* in "inverted" superheroes, "washed-up" superheroes, or any such thing. And I don't see the need for them. 😏 (Especially not those devoid of any sense of humour or proportion, rather like their author.) From a couple of interviews of Moore I read a few years ago, I got the impression Moore didn't think much of Morrison's work and felt Morrison was copying, almost stalking, him. Moore said in the 80s and 90s practically everything he did, Morrison would then do. Moore wrote Watchmen; Morrison then wrote Doom Patrol. Moore wrote Marvelman; Morrison, Zenith. Moore, Killing Joke; Morrison, Arkam Asylum. etc etc. Then Moore got into Magic and soon enough so did Morrison. The final straw for Moore was in an interview he mentioned an idea he was tossing around for a new story and less than a month later Morrison talked about the same idea, as if it was his own. Morrison also talked a lot about how much he would love working with Moore and how they'd been in contact. According to Moore, he barely knew Morrison and had only met a couple of times professionally. Imo, I felt Grant Morrison at that time just as he was starting out was in awe of Alan Moore and became a bit of an obsessive fanboi, and this turned Moore off Morrison completely.
Regarding the 2nd interview, I wish he would have learned to record all verbal comms with these vultures. Creatives are far too gentle. It kills me, it really does.
Do you guys really think that Alan has NEVER watched one of the movies from his books? If I was him the curiousity would KILL ME i know I would end up watching it.. But he has a lotta good points about comics not really translating well to the big screen although I'll admit I enjoyed From Hell, V for Vendetta and The Watchmen.. I actually really liked the WAtchmen film at first but watching it now I see a lot problems and flaws with it. I still really like From Hell though although basically everything in the book is left out. But the From Hell movie has a great atmosphere in my opinion.
He probably has, but, honestly, as separate entities these movies are pretty cool. As adaptations, they celebrate those who aren't really to be celebrated and focus on premises and characters that weren't the most important or relevant perspectives that the comics were trying to get across. In V for Vendetta, race consciousness was kind of glossed over. Guy Fawkes was a symbol of catholic totalitarianism. From Hell focused too much on the detective and far less on Jack the Ripper. Watchmen was a warning against omniscient heros with the power to direct our lives without question or oversight. So I can understand his disdain as a creator.
Alan Moore is a very intriguing character. I discovered him very recently on UA-cam when he interviewed the comedian Stewart Lee, who is incidently both an atheist as well as a member of the Humanist society. Two things I have noticed about many good comedians, is that they are; 1. Invariably very intelligent 2. Usually atheists. Stewart Lee (who I think, is a brilliant comedian) is no exception. I am convinced that Mr. Moore is talking about a very real and authentic experience (I am a Christian and believe in both angels and demons). I also believe that the Holy Bible is the Word of God.
Why into 2 parts? It covered the relevant points for it's run time excluding the squid scenes, which I think was wise to cut out as the general movie audience may have gotten lost with the movie. Studios tend to split films to if they fell they can make more money from it. E.g. Boring Hobbit, Hunger Crap Games and others.
+CosmicUndeadElf the whole look was off. He made the action look like matrix and made the costumes "cool" when that was decidedly NOT the original intention. The action should have looked like it did in SUPER, goofy most of the time and gory and horrible when it was too much, it was never supposed to be cool.

Watchmen is by far the best comic book ever made that even people who hate comics can get into.
This is because all the Watchmen characters are more realistic versions of typical comic book heros, AND critical parodies of them at the same time!
Night Owl is washed up Batman, Dr Manhattan is a detached inhuman Superman, The Comedian is a brutal sadistic Captain America, Silk Specter is a burnt out Wonder Woman, Rorschach is nihilistic inversion of The Spirit, and Ozymandias serves as the ultimate villain of the piece in so far as he thinks he is doing good, no matter how horrible he is, and how many people he kills, which is the worst kind of evil of all.
Thats why its the greatest comic book 'hero' story ever written. And thats why Alan Moore is a genius story teller.

What he has done to comics seems like a giant category mistake. He has basically removed all that is positive, from a basically fairy-tale-like form. If George Lucas had done the same with Star Wars, he would never have been successful

From a couple of interviews of Moore I read a few years ago, I got the impression Moore didn't think much of Morrison's work and felt Morrison was copying, almost stalking, him.
Moore said in the 80s and 90s practically everything he did, Morrison would then do.
Moore wrote Watchmen; Morrison then wrote Doom Patrol. Moore wrote Marvelman; Morrison, Zenith. Moore, Killing Joke; Morrison, Arkam Asylum. etc etc.
Then Moore got into Magic and soon enough so did Morrison.
The final straw for Moore was in an interview he mentioned an idea he was tossing around for a new story and less than a month later Morrison talked about the same idea, as if it was his own.
Morrison also talked a lot about how much he would love working with Moore and how they'd been in contact. According to Moore, he barely knew Morrison and had only met a couple of times professionally.
Imo, I felt Grant Morrison at that time just as he was starting out was in awe of Alan Moore and became a bit of an obsessive fanboi, and this turned Moore off Morrison completely.

Do you guys really think that Alan has NEVER watched one of the movies from his books? If I was him the curiousity would KILL ME i know I would end up watching it.. But he has a lotta good points about comics not really translating well to the big screen although I'll admit I enjoyed From Hell, V for Vendetta and The Watchmen.. I actually really liked the WAtchmen film at first but watching it now I see a lot problems and flaws with it. I still really like From Hell though although basically everything in the book is left out. But the From Hell movie has a great atmosphere in my opinion.
He probably has, but, honestly, as separate entities these movies are pretty cool. As adaptations, they celebrate those who aren't really to be celebrated and focus on premises and characters that weren't the most important or relevant perspectives that the comics were trying to get across. In V for Vendetta, race consciousness was kind of glossed over. Guy Fawkes was a symbol of catholic totalitarianism. From Hell focused too much on the detective and far less on Jack the Ripper. Watchmen was a warning against omniscient heros with the power to direct our lives without question or oversight. So I can understand his disdain as a creator.

Alan Moore is a very intriguing character.
I discovered him very recently on UA-cam when he interviewed the comedian Stewart Lee, who is incidently both an atheist as well as a member of the Humanist society.
Two things I have noticed about many good comedians, is that they are;
1. Invariably very intelligent
2. Usually atheists.
Stewart Lee (who I think, is a brilliant comedian) is no exception.
I am convinced that Mr. Moore is talking about a very real and authentic experience (I am a Christian and believe in both angels and demons).
I also believe that the Holy Bible is the Word of God.

Why into 2 parts? It covered the relevant points for it's run time excluding the squid scenes, which I think was wise to cut out as the general movie audience may have gotten lost with the movie.
Studios tend to split films to if they fell they can make more money from it. E.g. Boring Hobbit, Hunger Crap Games and others.
