Thanks, I felt that a little tech/computing background for each year was important when talking about games as how they evolved was often directly related to emerging changes and breakthroughs.
Thanks! I'm glad you like 'em! I'm also running Obscure DOS Games series, and the new episode should be out end of this week, and there's plenty of little known games in these too. Arguably some of them are really really bad, but they're all interesting. :)
I remember Warlords 2 very well. It was actually there was a PC game I really wanted, but were unavailable on the Amiga. And that feeling came along A LOT from then on! Also, remember well how a friend with a PC had a huge smile when I arrived and said, "I have something to show you". He put on Doom on the PC and said "let us see your Amiga to this".
Yeah, I too remember friends of mine all getting PCs before me, and switching to newer and better experiences. Better cause their system was still getting good and new games... xD
@@steinarvilnes3954 that's news to me but apparently there was a version for the Amiga that came out a year later. I remember talking with my cousin about the game in 1993 and at that time there was only a PC version. (my parents bought me a PC in 1993 so I didn't really follow what was going on on the Amiga anymore)
@@poppers7317 I remember that I thought several games like Fields of Glory, Syndicate, Castles and several more was not available on the Amiga, because the local shops did not stock them!
I totally felt the same for Epic Pinball. Pinball Fantasies had a little something more that make me play for hours (and still do on Steam Deck), especially Partyland. Every table of Epic Pinball were a bit meh. At least, not good enough for me to bother learning their rules.
I don't think they feared it at all. I mean it did so well that you hear about it even today. People just raise its subject in random conversations, it's part of our culture. Right? ;)
@@burntyper Oh, my bad! I should've know straight away. Yeah, that one's great! It's so good in fact, nothing comparably as good has came out since. It's in the league of its own. Literally. And not only cause it doesn't exist. ;)
When the series originally was made, I was working with a set of very strict pre-defined rules for it. Which also limited not only length of commentary but also number of games per year. I don't have limits like that anymore, but this particular (and Amiga's too) series are still affected. Sorry. :/
I love your little "history of the internet" bits at the beginning of the video, it's good history to know!

Thanks for all the work you put into these, I'm finding all sorts of gems I wanna try

I had that feeling for Sim City 2000.
@@poppers7317 But I think Sim City 2000 was available for the Amige as well?

Love that betrayal at krondor. Been replaying that one on my rp3+
It's a good game, that I always somehow sucked in. Despite being mainly a RPG gamer. xD
x-wing / tie fighters in vr is a nostalgic fantasy, especially if you have some sort of hotas setup
I would've loved to try those in VR.
Amazing video, thank you so much.
Thanks for watching!

Oh, Partyland is easily the best table! Are you running those through emulation (DOSBox) on your Steamdeck or through GOG installer?
@@OldAndNewVideoGames through Dosbox, with a controls remapping. Getting a good control layout for these old games is also a game in itself!
@@mathieucuny8872 I think I'll run it through DBGL cause I don't think that D-Fend has Linux port... :)
I got my first PC in 1993.
It was a great time for gaming!
Great video, the the game in the beginning is Alone in the dark 1, not 2.
Holy c-r-a-p! You're right! I just double checked it. How did I manage to mix the videos up? xD
Super Fighter lol how did Capcom not go after them?
