I just swapped out a Vista Pro shaft on my Tour Edge Exotics E722 for a Ventus Red 5R. Adds 10 yards to my drive. Arrow straight. Going to get Ventus Red for my 3wood and 20 degree hybrid. I was a skeptic that a shaft would do much for an average golfer. Been proven wrong about that. I’m 70 years old, 12 handicap, driver club speed 90 mph.
This is great. I have found equally similar results. Ventus tr blue never went the farthest for me but dispersion was just soo good, i sacrificed a bit of ball speed from ventus black because i just feel with the tr blue i know where the ball is going almost every time
No tipping, standard cut from the butt and length. I actually ended up swapping it out for black TR with the same head to produce the same effect, but not lose length. I’ve picked up more speed (118-122 club head speed).
The Ventus Blue is the best shaft that I ever had. Just the stock TM one that came in my SIM2 has blown me away. I would say the Ventus line is the most welcomed/used/popular shaft since the NV Green
I’m about to find out. I’m just a little faster than that, not much (102-105 right now) and going from 5s Red to 6s TR Red. I turn over the 5s too much (TSi3 head), hoping this is the setup.
Always used a rather whippy shaft. Just always felt like I could feel the load. Then just tried a buddy’s driver w Ventus black and was just killing the ball. Time for a new shaft
Been waiting for the new TR series embargo to be over for a while now. Great to get eyes on them, awesome look. For me the TR Red is going to hopefully finish what the Ventus Red started. Very nice part.
@@ScottDreyfus I was in an OG (2014) Speeder 661x from my 2016 build and took a little time off from playing much. Came back and had lost a lot of speed. Went Ventus Red 5s and it was way too far of a compensation (although it’s fast!) …but I turn it over too much. I gained back a little speed and have some more to go, about 104-105 now and looking for 108ish. When I stopped playing I was around 110-113. I’m 55 now and probably won’t see those numbers but it’s nice to have gained back some. I am putting in the TR Red 6s this weekend (and 7s in fwy) so looking forward to hitting.
@@baldwin9281 Ventus red tr is a different animal than the 661 motore speeder. From a feel prospective. The tip is actually very similar but a Ventus red tr even in 5s is going to play a whole flex stiffer in the handle. The 661 kicked like a mule. The tr is very non Fuji feel. They've almost always been lower handle stiffness. We finally caught on to com only giving you relative butt stiffness
@@ScottDreyfus Hmmm …very interesting, Chad knows my numbers and pretty solidly suggested I go 6s. Was back and forth for a bit. Hopefully it works out well. I won’t (can’t!) pay $175 just to swing a club at ClubChamp, etc. Looks like it’s gonna be an interesting weekend.
@@baldwin9281 have you ever hit anything from matrix in the mid to late 2000s, because that’s the feel of the tr. it’s not crazy demanding outside of black but it is incredibly stable and these shaft allow for quicker lead deflection with the stiff butt and it’s why most people are seeing a slight uptick in speed as well. If you have a good positive AOA you’ll be able to play with slightly lower loft which will also increase ball speed.
Interesting review 👍🏻 Played with the Ventus Blue 6s last year with my TS3 driver and really enjoyed it. (Felt I could hit it hard but my spin numbers were too high). Changed to Rogue ST Max with GD Tour AD xc and having a great time with it. Took a while to get the timing right when I went after one but over time, the feel is excellent and my numbers have improved significantly. Spin is down, carry and total up and fairways found much improved. Expensive upgrades but worth it even at my level of golf.
I'm playing blue tr in my driver....what a hammer. My strike just comes out of the middle so often. I was playing black before but tr blue is just a little more forgiving. I'm putting a red tr 8x in my 3 wood. I think it's going to be a real weapon in the sim2ti. Ian if you want to play less loft the red is the way to go. I have a 6x blue tr at 44.75 in an epic ls and it just goes straight. Almost scary straight even in the tour sleeve at -2 to the point you are scared to aim down the middle of the course all day
i switched to the Blue TR from Regular ventus Blue..and I didnt think it could get better but yeah..it really is! PIcked up a few MPH ballspeed and dispersion is tighter.
Can you order the Velocore+ yet? And is there a video, think you play the current blue now. Like ot see a video, some are out there and love your videos.
What are your thoughts on Rocco Mediates bag? He plays super stiff in everything for his swing speed (ventus black tr 7x in driver). He says super stiff helps with a draw and if it’s too soft it’ll just go high right. I’ve put some softer shafts in my driver and noticed it flying high right, maybe I should try a ventus black like him!
Hi Ian, Hi Mike... I am curious as to if you guys have the Project X VRTX Blue Shaft in your studio and if you regularly fit anyone into that shaft. I was recently fit into this shaft for my woods during a full bag fitting but I wasn't completely sold on it, and I was wondering if there were any alternative shafts to this one that would fit into the same mid-low launch and mid spin category. Thanks!
This is interesting. I'm off scratch and my bad one is a hook. I used tour issue Aldila TX 60g tour green for 5 years. Bought a Stealth and it came with a Kaili 70X, the heavier shaft has completely eliminated the left side of the course like the black TR did in this vid, even though results improved, I'm not a fan of the heavier shaft, it's taken feel of clubhead away. Maybe the 6X TR blue or normal black might be a good option. I do like my new baby fade, just want the feedback with it
I am playing a Ventus TR Blue shaft in my driver (I actually have two of them in two different weights, one in a Titleist TSi4 head and a 9 grams heavier one in a Tour Edge adapter that I play in either a C722 or E722 Exotics driver) and I love the TR Blue shafts. In fact, I love them so much that I am considering trying a TR Red 70 Series shaft in my TS2 4-wood. So far, the only thing holding me back is the fact that I love the 77 gram Miyazaki Kusala Mizu shaft that is in that 4-wood.
HZRDUS RDX Red 6.5 75g in my 3 wood has been a game changer. Keen to try the TR Red in my 3 wood and see how that stacks up. Side note, how good are the TSR woods. Always been a 3 player but the new TSR2 is phenomenol and is the best looking 2 model I've seen
I think Ian already answered that in video. The TR versions are essentially handle stiffened versions of original. The Velocore tip sections are carryover thus tipping would be equal across entire line. That said, talk to your fitter and/or Fujikura authorized builder as Fujikura specifically does not recommend tipping of the Speeder nor Ventus shafts. You trim tip 1/2” on fw, drivers are untrimmed, at least if you follow their guidelines.
Really want to see a test with the Ventus TR line compared to the regular Ventus Line. But would also love to see the Ventus lines vs the HZRDUS RDX line.
I can tell you from personal experience the RDX black is way more board-likethan Ventus Black (my driver speed is between 111 - 115mph). Really had to work hard to make the RDX work, but that’s just my experience. Could be wildly different for someone else.
Question for you guys. How can I reduce my back spin? Currently using a tensi orange 1k TX 60 in a sim 2 7⁰. Swing speed average around 122mph, going all out 130+ but my spin average is around 3000 and higher. I use a skytrak "I know its not a GCquad" but ill carry 305 with 3000+ spin. I feel it's accurate because I have the same results when playing golf. How can I lower my back spin. Thanks.
interest and good test, nice addition to the Ventus family. Anyone know if the Ventus Blue or Blue TR is equivalent characteristics to Hzrdus Blue, anyone tried them both ? - i dont have a way to test them so need to ask. :)
I would say Hzdrus Blue and Blue TR are closer. I couldn't load either of those without back pain whereas Standard blue profile was my one and done. I believe Ian has said before that Hzrdus Blue has a tip profile stiffness stiffer than the Hulk Green one.
I went from the rdx blue 60TX to the blue tr 6x and the blue tr is a firmer feel through the mid while still a great feel. The rdx blue felt a bit soft in the mid for my feel. The blue TR in my g425lst is the straightest driver I’ve ever had.
@@jeffreygentes That is great info Jeff. What SS are you at with the driver? 113-115 is pretty standard for me, but can get into 118-120 when warm. Currently play RDX Blue 70(6.5) and it can get a little loose. Not sure if I have the gas to step into a TX.

I realize it’s completely psychological but there’s just something about red anything that’s a hard no for me 🤣. I did demo the original Ventus Blue and Ventus Black. I wanted to try the 60S version but my fitter didn’t have one to demo, the 60X was actually his personal driver. Sounds like the Ventus Red TR would be most suitable to my profile but the Speeder NX is such a fantastic shaft, it’s also in my 3-wood, that I can’t see it getting replaced in foreseeable future.
