I think what David was trying to say, we are in this world, but a part of us also transcends the world and is therefore beyond the physical world.
I don't think English is this man's first language, so maybe he could not articulate what he was saying, I can't blame him, I don't' think I could do this in another language either.

7 :30 - I aslo like that many Da'ees are emphasizing that there is one truth, Allah's name is Al Haqq. There is that one Truth with a capital T that is objective, then there are small truths or personal truths with a lower case t that falls under that, that which disagrees with that aren't personal truths but personal lies or errors...

Most indonesian use "karma" because of the cultural assimilation between Hinduism and Buddhism with Indonesian society in the past..in islam itself, a concept "like karma" is also known (we just don't called it as karma)
Quran [42:30] _"And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much."_
Quran [16:61] _"And if Allāh were to impose blame on the people for their wrongdoing, He would not have left upon it [i.e., the earth] any creature, but He defers them for a specified term. And when their term has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede"_

@@Assyaroni please don't liken Allah's judgement to karma. It's very dangerous to use these mushrik concepts & terms, for several reasons.
      1. karma says good actions = good outcome in this life. But Islam teaches that good believers can be tested with hardship. They can even be tested much harder than others.
      2. karma says bad actions = bad outcome in this life. But Islam teaches that some evil people might be left alone to become even more rich & do even more sins in this life. So that they can earn the worst punishment, and so that any good deeds they have done will be given to those they oppressed.
      3. Karma is said to lead to good or bad reincarnation. That good actions will automatically equal good next life. But we know that it is not our actions which determine our destination, it is Allah's mercy/wisdom.
And we also know that a mushrik who does good in this life will ONLY receive their reward in this life. Because they will die on shirk & so will suffer in the next life. But karma says he will have a good rebirth.
If you really read into karma, you'll see it is the opposite to many Islamic teachings. This is why we should be careful using other religions' terms & concepts. Especially if the only reason is to fit into their cultures etc.

barakallahu feek for reminding me, brother
I am well aware of all those points, brother..but what is developing in Indonesian people is no longer the same concept of karma from the polytheists..
this happened due to language assimilation for _"karma"_ has already done in Indonesian language from very long time ago, so that term is used by Indonesian people even though in their understanding ofvthe word does not refer to the concept of the polytheist..basically, they simply saying about _"you reap what you sow"_ that's all, nothing more..and that concept is also known in islam like in Quran [55:60] or Quran [17:7]
but ofcourse, for muslims, they also know about tests and istridraj

I agree, I like Muslim Lanterns energy, he's very calm and respectful.
I don't necessarily agree with Islam on some point, but I still think it's a great religion.
I don't agree with the concept that God can harm innocent people as a "test." Harming innocent people imo is unethical regardless of the reason.
We believe in the east everything that happens to you is karma. If you suffer, it's your karma to suffer, you did it to yourself.
You also aren't punished for believing the wrong thing, you are only punished for causing suffering to others. I don't understand why an atheist must get eternal hell, even if they were good to others generally.
An atheist is not punished because they caused lots of harm to others, the are punished for incorrect beliefs? This doesn't make sense to me, like a person is being harmed for ignorance.
Even the idea of infinite punishment for finite crimes makes no sense to me. It's hard to believe in the concept of an eternal hell for finite crimes.
Buddhism is based on the concept of monorealism, of a single Absolute. Even the concept of a supreme being like what you have in Islam would be tantamount to metaphysical idolatry in Buddhism.
The Absolute in Buddhism is beyond being or non-being. Being being an entity or non-entity. The Absolute, in Buddhism, is a perfect, self-sufficient eternal reality that depends upon nothing external to itself.

David, we also have spiritual practices in islam. Tazkiyah, purification of the heart, is something every Muslim is encouraged to do. We also have moderate meditative practices, where we recite the name of Allah SWT and short prayers. You will feel a superior sense of inner peace compared to Godless meditation. Try it. Barakah Blue may be someone you should look into. He is an American convert to Islam and does a lot of teaching on this.

@@hamzanocap Personally, I will avert from what people prescribe as Tazkiya unless one is separating it from being part of the religion. As for Tazkiya, It comes from words which has appeared in the Quran itself in different forms such as وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ ۚ in verse (2:129). "Our Lord! Raise from among them a messenger who will recite to them Your revelations, teach them the Book and wisdom, and purify them. Indeed, You ˹alone˺ are the Almighty, All-Wise.”
Reading Quran with intention of understanding it and not being arrogant to just follow ones whims in feeling like the new Interpreter innovator 5Head of the Quran is a good way to do Tazkiya. Also doing constant charity and Zakah (specially some of them being hidden from the public eyes) for the sake of Allah rather than the self is a good way to do Tazkiya (Zakah means literally to cleanse. For the money and I will argue that It will also work with the self if It is done correctly ).

"it is they who hasten to do good deeds, and they are foremost in them." [Quran 23:61].
▪The Muslim should start these days with sincere repentance to Allah, then he should do a lot of good deeds.
▪Repentance is obligatory at all times, and repentance at special times is also very important because in most cases people’s thoughts turn towards worship at these times, and they are keen to do good, which leads to them recognizing their sins and feeling regret for the past.
▪Let's hasten to make the most of these first ten days of Dhul Hijjah.

Virtues of the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah: The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) commanded us to recite a lot of Tasbeeh ("Subhan-Allaah"), Tahmeed ("Al-hamdu Lillaah") and Takbeer ("Allaahu akbar") during this time.
Abdullaah ibn Umar (radi Allahu anhuma) reported that the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "There are no days greater in the sight of Allah and in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Him than these ten days, so during this time recite a great deal of Tahleel ("La ilaaha ill-Allaah"), Takbeer and Tahmeed." 7 :30 - Allah's name is Al Haqq. I also like many Da'ees emphasize there is one truth with a capital T that is objective, then there are small truths or personal truths with a lower t that falls under that, that which disagrees with that aren't personal truths but personal lies or errors...

Ibn Abbaas (radi Allahu anhuma) reported that the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." The people asked, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allah?" He said, "Not even jihaad for the sake of Allah, except in the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause, and came back with nothing." [Hadith: Al-Bukhari].

It was narrated that Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (رضي الله عنه) said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
‘There are two qualities which no Muslim person attains but he will enter Paradise, and they are easy, but those who do them are few.’
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘The five daily prayers: After each prayer one of you glorifies Allah (سبحان الله) ten times and praises Him (الحمد لله) ten times and magnifies Him (الله أكبر) ten times, which makes 150 on the tongue and 1500 in the balance.’ And I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) counting them on his hands.
‘And when one of you retires to his bed he says the tasbih (سبحان الله) thirty-three times and the tahmid (الحمد لله) thirty-three times and the takbir (الله أكبر) thirty-four times, that is 100 on the tongue and 1000 in the balance.’
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “So which of you does 2500 bad deeds in a day and a night?”
It was said: “O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), how can a person not persist in doing that?”
He said: “The Shaitan comes to one of you when he is praying and says: ‘Remember such and such, remember such and such,” or he comes to him when he is in bed and makes him fall asleep.”

Virtues of the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah: Allah swears an oath by them, and swearing an oath by something is indicative of its importance and great benefit.
Allah says (what means): "By the dawn; by the ten nights" [Quran 89:1-2]. Ibn Abbas, Ibn al-Zubayr, Mujahid and others of the earlier and later generations said that this refers to the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah.

Merits of the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah..
▪The ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are among the great seasons of worship which Allah has favoured over other days.
▪So, the Muslim should start these days with sincere repentance to Allah, then he should do a lot of righteous deeds in general.
▪Then he should pay attention to doing the following deeds: observing fasting, reciting tahmid, tahlil and takbir, offering Hajj, Umrah and Udhiyah.

"... So hasten towards all that is good ..." [Quran 2:148].
▪The Muslim must understand the value of his life, increase his worship of Allah and persist in doing good deeds until the moment of death.
▪Therefore, we must take advantage of the opportunity of the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah and do more good deeds.

    Benefits of seasons of worship..
▪"This season of worship brings many benefits, such as the opportunity to correct one’s faults and make up for any shortcomings or anything that one might have missed. Every one of these special occasions involves some kind of worship through which the slaves may draw closer to Allah, and some kind of blessing through which Allah bestows His favour and mercy upon whomsoever He will. The happy person is the one who makes the most of these special months, days and hours and draws nearer to his Lord during these times through acts of worship; he will most likely be touched by the blessing of Allah and will feel the joy of knowing that he is safe from the flames of Hell." [Ibn Rajab, al-Lataif].
▪May Allah Almighty grant us success in seizing this opportunity, and help us to do many good deeds in the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah.
