In today's Construction Simulator review (2022), Reggie will explain why this one caught him by surprise.
Generally speaking I find myself addicted to simulator style games. I just can't help myself picking them up even though I know many of them have poor animations, janky graphics and are buggy as hell. So imagine my surprise when I saw how much polish had been placed into this sim.
The review will provide plenty of issues but overall, this is absolutely super fun and one you should all consider if you are a simulator nerd like Reggie.
Construction Simulator is back - bigger and better than ever! Take charge of over 70 machines, dozens of them brand new to the franchise, and build to your heart’s content on two huge maps - on your own or with your friends!

Construction Simulator is back - bigger and better than ever! Get back to work with a vehicle fleet whose size will knock your socks off. Beyond brands like Caterpillar, CASE and BELL that are already familiar in the Construction Simulator series, you can get behind the wheel of new licensed machines from partners like DAF and Doosan - over 70 in total.
Build to your heart’s content on two maps, inspired by landscapes in the USA and Germany.
Over 90 exciting tasks are waiting to be completed in both maps combined, so there’s always something new to explore!
Each map has its own campaign through which you become the owner of your own construction company. As you start from scratch assisted by your mentor Hape, you get bigger and more interesting jobs to grow your company and expand your fleet. You’ll also meet different clients that will challenge you. Tasks like renovating the harbor area to attract more tourists or helping the struggling inner city to recover will demand all your skills.
On the European map inspired by the idyllic cities of Southwest Germany, you’ll find rolling hills and beautiful riversides. In Friedenberg your mission is to help design solutions for renewable energy and improve the city’s infrastructure during the campaign. Aside from these larger jobs, you’ll get assorted tasks to test out every bit of equipment that you earn. Take pride in your accomplishments as you ride through the city!

Surprised how polished this game is but I've seen some mixed reviews too. Where do you guys stand?
U just say "build his pedo playground"? I been saying Hape or whatever the bosses name is a wanted pedophile
Think it’s wicked pal. MP bit glitchy ffs but . I saw your matchpoint review and subbed from there on . Not watched all of this video as I’m doing Europe campaign, didn’t want any spoilers lol as soon as I heard build a theme park I turned off , but 😂I agree Hapé looks like a paedo 🤣
About to buy the game. as someone who worked in the heavy equipment operation industry, its nice to see how realistic it is. Especially the complicated controls, While you understand the basics in a few minutes it takes several hours to become "smooth" and several weeks or months to be able to operate a machine with precision, and years on one machine to learn the tricks and gain the ability to do fancy things.
did you buy construction simulator ? is it realistic as you have worked with real heavy equiptment. i want to learn to become a excavtor driver thought this might help get. some practice in what do you think? worth it or not
@afrosamurai-swordplay Yes i did buy.
Its not 100% realistic. Its will help you develop the coordination to operate. I highly recommended 2 joy sticks and lookup ISO controls for excavators. Map the controls to the iso controls.
Their are 2 things that are hard to learn. The operation of the joysticks to get the machine to do what you want, its not natural at first. The "oh shit" factor when you do something and have an unexpected outcome. Ie grab a boulder and the back end comes up. The first you can learn in the game. The second is only learned in the seat. Their are videos tbat cover other areas of operation on youtube.
You have the kind of channel were I’m surprised to only see a 1000 subs. Your should have many many more. Subscribed!
Richard you utter lad! Thank you sir, appreciate it.
Many congratulations Reggie! 🥳🎉 1k awesome! Great review as always btw 👍
Thank you Stu and as always appreciate your support.
Nice review. Yes, the controller helps a lot. Good suggestion to have everything loaded at the site all at once as an option versus back and forth. The bridge in the US was the toughest task so far. Fun game though, thanks.
Thank you Blackarro lad, appreciate the comment. I’ve yet to get to the bridge part but I have a vacation coming up so this might be my time to catch up!
You have just sold me on the game mate! Cheers for that! Also got a laugh out of a few ways you described things. I wonder if the game is crossplay cause would love to join you on it lad
Thank you Chris lad! It’s definitely a particular type of game but it’s decent for sure if you like the simulator genre. Thank you for feedback too… good to know the style is working. Cheers fella
Thanks this really help I am thinking about getting it first time watching you I like the way you review the game definitely will be subscribing
Thank you lad dad… appreciate it.
Yeah possibly one for my collection, i do have the hrs atm but often hear its pretty hard solo, and best played with peeps, however the idea to maybe bury some bodies in the concrete sounds like a great job and only bury UFO in america I guess, have your tried the EU maps?
Great one Reggie, blooming good show.
I like it you say bloody means dam just a an English slang for dam but can't wait until I start playing looks like a cool game thank you for the video mate from the USA Missouri 🇺🇸
Thank you Nathan lad, appreciate the comment. And yes I actually quite like this but do check out other reviews as some have been quite negative to it!
Well done Geeza
such a great game im a few hours into it so much to do. i would love to play this game on mobile!
will a ryzen 7 2700, 1080TI 11GB, 16gb ddr4 2666mhz run it over 60fps at 1080P?
Yes I’d have thought so. I wouldn’t say max setting… but for sure will run it.
I can’t run ultra at 4k but medium to high at 1080p for you should be fine. Some of the most demanding graphical features are barely noticeable so you can easily turn those off anyway.
what platform are you playing this new game on? if it is a PC, what model do you have? If you don't mind me asking. Thanks.
No worries mate! This was PC, using a 3080 at the time and an i9 9900k with 32gb RAM.
@@cockneygamer thanks a lot! I might be migrating from a Mac just for the game 😂 I’ll have your specs in mind cause your graphics look stunning and the game itself smooth as heck!!!!! Have a blessed day
Thank you kindly good soul. I wish I could comment on a MAC performance but indeed, I went big dog on specs so I can provide you lovely people some nice videos. Thank you for watching!
@@cockneygamer ohhh Man! I even bought Parallels Desktop for emulating Windows on my mac, but it consumes a lot of resources for what’s worth, and the Simulator loses graphics quality, smoothness and general performance. Instead of getting a more Pro Mac I’ll just migrate to Windows again. It’d be fantastic tho if the developers made available a MacOS version but, we be asking too much of them 😂😂 I’m happy with what we are given because honestly there’s nothing close to this type of game out there, I’ve been playing it since ConSim 2012…. Just a random fan of heavy construction machinery spending free time on these games.
I could be wrong but I believe it’s available on console too!
Have you tried the multiplayer on xbox series x if so how's it run
Sorry lad, I’ve only played on PC so can’t comment on this I’m afraid. Hopefully another cockney gang member can help!
@@cockneygamer No worries dude :)
Thanks bud 🤜🏻🤛🏻
C*NT HOTEL Brilliant! 🤣
The control scheme for tracked vehicles is quite odd when you start off, Y and C is not particularly a logical combination.
However I checked the controls and it seems to have been edited from the start of the game as it has an asterisk behind it.
I changed the controls to be Z and C which removed the asterisk, indicating that it is supposed to be the default keybind.
Having Q and E forwards, Z and C backwards is at least a lot more logical as it is a grid pattern on your keyboard, so you could give that a try too.
Edit: You can also turn off traffic violations like speeding and red lights, imo they make no sense in a construction game. It's not ETS2.
(You'll find that you are fast travelling most of the time either way)
Thank you lad, and great investigative work! Hopefully this helps others!
Y and C are where your Z and C are on the German keyboard. And I think the devs are German, so that'd explain that.
God you are the bloody funniest game reviewer I've ever come across! Subscribed! Keep them coming!
Very kind of you Geonosi, and welcome to the gang! Appreciate your support!
Subscribed, ur hilarious mate
Super kind of you Remco lad. Thank you
Y and C are next to each other on my keyboard. XD
Accidently subscribed didn't regret it
Awwww you kind wolf, thank you!
Now I have to turn the bell on with that reply
Polished? It looks like a game made over 10 years ago, lol.
Go look at a construction sim from 10 years ago lol, very rare one looks as good as this one does.
As a big fan of niche simulator games, this is a very well polished sim for what it is lol. I was surprised to see actual cutscene dialogue 😂
Only sound complaint is the fucking skid steer its quiet in real life its loud it feels like disrespect it pissed me off
subscribed from East London , but not the 1000th sub :(
Thank you for your support lad. And you go down in history as 990 subscriber!
It's not bad
Bro I’m high as shit an this creased me
Glad it served you well Mr Silvano
The argument that we should appreciate that they couldve made a worse game is weird.
I absolutely agree. Good review.
For me, the game doesn't even have to exist. It is simple, boring, without ideas. The goal of the developers was only to see money.
The quality of work is similar to Farming sim 22.
3/10
The driving is just like the firefighter game from the same creator. waste of time holding up the action
It's kinda wierd, that every youtuber push this game for all it's worth, but spend some time and really watch it, it's not that good... So what if the graphics are good, when the gameplay are lame AF, and not close to be a simulator what so ever..
When you play a lot of “simulator” games, whether it be prison simulator, police patrol officers, gas station simulator, cowboy simulator, contraband simulator, bus simulator etc, you start realise how well polished this is.
Is it Microsoft flight simulator levels? Of course not. But compared to other janky simulators, this is actually very good.
It is NOT a simulator, far from it!!! You don't even have to finish you're tasks, so this is NOT a simulator, it's cheap try to be one..
You know, Ive been thinking about this comment a lot. Because whilst I think it’s way better polished than many other “simulators” out there, what I think you raise as a question is “what makes a simulator a simulator”. You’ve sort of inspired me for a potential future video there!
Most construction companies I know in real life don't finish their tasks (or at least properly) so its definitely a simulator 🤣
@@TheGunnerRyan HAHA, very true!
@@cockneygamer yup and that's coming from someone that works in construction lol. I just bit the bullet and bought the game. Just doing the tutorial now. It's my first time buying a simulator game
@@TheGunnerRyan oh good job. Simulator games are a strange place. First you’ll feel weird and embarrassed when others are playing CoD and the like. Then you’ll feel like “actually this is at least different”. Next thing you know you’re buying gas station simulator and loving them all!
