- While Dale was on vacation earlier this year, a Jimmie Johnson "fan" came up to him and had a quote that made Mike Davis burst into uncontrollable laughter. Needless to say, it was one of the funniest moments of the year!

Wait until you get in your 60s...it gets worse my friend. Last 2 big, big vacations, the whole family went on a big cruise...I stayed on the compound with our 8 dogs and 1 cat. Having a coffee, and worked on the floorpans on my 1971 Blazer. Only thing is, now the dogs think the Blazer is their new dog house. Anyway, I loved it. By the time your 60s roll around, you realize, your mighty BLESSINGS of still being alive, and everyday is a great vacation to just be with your family. ❤❤❤
Dogs are the one thing that can make me smile no matter what.
@@BwInNewJersey Yeah, since I retired, the 4 dogs that live here (4 next door at my daughter's house) think they should go everywhere with me. They will about knock me down to get to the truck so they don't get left behind. I sold my 4 door Tundra, and got a deal on a Tacoma, but it is a 2 door with the suicide doors in the back. I had to build a platform that was level. then put foam on it. It's tight with 4 dogs (3 full size and one little mouthy dog that thinks she is a big dog...and she wants to drive. Got to get my old Blazer finished so they can have some room, they will love it.
@@captaincrustyradio I love it. We sound similar in that I love making accomdations for my dog. Im sure yours are so genuinely happy to go with you its impossible not to fall in with them. I had to put my baby to sleep recently and now im a co-parent to my sister in law’s dog. Im so happy to have him and would love to get to a place where you are and adopt more dogs. They are the best.
@@BwInNewJersey It's so funny, we have 3 acres and in 1995 when we bought it, there was no one around at all...LOL...now folks around. I did plant trees and put up the zombie fence so still good, and the dogs can run. But my son is an hour away, he has 14 acres, told him, can I live at your house? He has chickens, goats, dogs, cats, a shooting range they built with his father-in-laws bulldozer. I asked him son, who has their on bulldozer, he said just wait...now they have the lumber mill going. Never give up on your dreams, at 30 years old, I was penniless (the whole divorce thing) Later, my brother, Crusty Kirk

Dale, I am sorry to say that I didn’t appreciate you or your father nearly enough when you were active drivers. The void that Sr left cannot be described and I know you understand that more than anyone. What you didn’t do in terms of championships or whatever, you have more than made up for with your efforts to preserve the history of NASCAR in a way that nobody else thought to even try. You are about the best ambassador for auto racing in the US that anyone could ask for, and that is beyond special.
As for the hater, some people just can’t wrap their heads around someone accomplishing something in their life. Don’t let it bother you.
I haven’t amounted to much personally in comparison, but I’m not about to ruin someone else’s day over it. I can at least be a man. That guy slipped in that moment, hopefully for him it was just a bad moment.

I will have to admit that I was not a fan while you were racing. Not a hater, just not one of the screaming fans. It wasn't until I ran across one of these podcasts that turned me around. I would say current day, I have the most respect for you than anyone else in NASCAR.
100% the same for me. I've always been a Ford guy so nothing Earnhardt was ever particularly positive for me, but the way Dale carries himself on these podcasts and his other ventures has made me a huge fan.

The best response to someone like this is to ignore them. It shows them how little their opinion means. Having said that I'm not certain I could follow my own advice. You responded in the best way you could.
I swear you were in my head at the begining. Im sure im not as busy as you, but even when i get away I am still always thinking about what im juggling. And I swear I feel guilty about relaxing and being on vacation. I always feel like im just wasting time, like i should be doing something while im on vacation!! But everyone needs a break and sometimes it takes a day or two for me to even get into the groove of enjoying a vacation! Easier said than done but don't let the drunks get under your skin, its just what they want to do!

Dale I was recently visiting my brother in St. Cloud Florida. We had tickets to the Daytona 500. On the 25th of February we were at Kennedy Space Center in the gift shop. I thought I saw you but wasn’t sure. I didn’t wanna ask and invade your privacy or ask and it not be you and feel like an idiot. I guess I’ll never know.

We saw Chocolate Myers at the RCR museum. He was doing business with a guy in a suit & briefcase, we just nodded and said hey Chocolate, This man paused what he was doing to ask how we liked the museum, took a picture with my wife and then told the guy hold on , went an got 2 hero cards and autographed them. Shook our hands. Hugged my wife. IT WAS COOL AS HELL!! The when we left I noticed RC behind me obviously in a hurry, I pulled over and waved him by he waved real big and hauled ass down the road.

For me even if RUM induced would never try to insult someone... famous or not. If I met you on vacation I would leave you alone... or maybe just talk normal stuff like people do on vacation with other vacationers.
The place and time means alot... if you at a restaurant or on vacation... with your kids... you are not going to get anything more than a head nod from me... if you are on the street alone or at an event I want your attention and time... maybe an autograph...
