Thank you! I managed to enable the timer feature according to your instructions. Protip: You don't need to pull out the spring to keep it safe. Mine would have been perfectly safe but I pulled it out and lost it while putting it back so I had to make a new one.
"I have a Casio DB-36 model, which supports the countdown timer feature. That's why I bought it three years ago, and I'm still very happy to have this watch."❤
Exactly what I was thinking. They're literally wasting time and solder (money) to hinder the watch's capabilities. I really am curious what the financial reasoning behind this decision is.
@@SpikeBachman: Not significantly. The biggest 🔋 drainer is Light 💡 than audio sound 🔊. LCD display takes very little energy. But process not shown on the screen takes even less than that (almoust nothing) ;-)
Probably a financial decision, to create more incentive to buy their more expensive models, but designing a different module would've been more expensive.
Perfect instructions, and they will work if you follow them precisely. You'll probably need a soldering iron with a fairly sharp point, as the pad that needs to be de-soldered is about 1/2 the size of a pin head. It is also important to have some thin copper wire or de-soldering copper braid to help soak up the solder that needs to be removed. The Countdown Timer is one of the most useful functions for me, so I'm happy to have it working now on my W-800H watch! Thanks 👍
The mod worked like a charm! Easy. I accidently soldered off entire pad of that jumper, but popping everything back together and worked without issue. No reset needed. Thanks!
Sorry but unfortunately it may not work on the W217H (I've never heard of anyone doing that, and haven't tried it myself) By the way, thanks for the appreciation :)
G’day @Nobody! I did open up the W-217H and removed the module, and didn’t see a way to do it. As one of my viewers pointed out, I’d probably need to remove the motherboard from this module to be certain though, so I need to check again. I’ll eventually do that, as well as attempt this on an actual W800H when I review it (got one ready to go!) 😁
Yes, that's because the buzzer/beeper is attached to the inside of the backplate (the thing that looks like a small round sticker), and get the signal from the springs that contacts the backplate and the front side of the buzzer.

Typical casio. They always lack one or two usefull features. Theb they can put out another model with that one single fearure. That said. When you do this the water resistance doesn't stay the same. You need to measure by pressure again...
Youve made a video to show something that youve learnt in a video from someone who learnt in a third video. Casio watches are creating a piramid scheme of wannabe youtubers 😂
Thank you! I managed to enable the timer feature according to your instructions.

If you press the light button once whilst setting your countdown time it will enable auto restart of the countdown!
awesome, thanks for the tips
Obrigado! Greetings from Portugal 🇵🇹
So cool! Now I want to try it on my old watch.
I bought my Casio w800 and used this method. The timer function is very useful for me. Thank you for the video!
Great to hear! You're welcome :)
Why did Casio cripple this watch model and not just keep the timer function available by default?
Exactly what I was thinking. They're literally wasting time and solder (money) to hinder the watch's capabilities. I really am curious what the financial reasoning behind this decision is.
I wonder if the timer function decreases the battery life, and Casio chose 10yr battery over timer????

Yes, I could use a sharper soldering tip, and also a better soldering skill hahaha.
Thank you for watching, have a great day :)
@@SamsWatchReview does this work for other modules too?
@@mhxxd4 as far as I know, this mods works only for W800, W96, and A178.
Successfully modded thank to this excellent guide!😎
Great to hear!

I followed your advice and scratch even more and this time worked perfectly, many thanks! Now its perfect for me. Greetings from Lisbon🇵🇹
You're welcome, glad it helps. Have a great day 😊
It really worked. Thank you!
You're welcome:)
Additionaly Try to lock jumper in right Side an y will get 5 alarms instead 1. I did it and it works actually.
THanks for sharing :)
can you tell us or show us which jumper?
I'm just finishing this mod. It works!!!
Thank you for your great demonstration 🤘🤘🤘
Congratulations. Glad I could help!
Straight to the point, and extremely informative. I'm gonna try this on another similar (W-217H) Casio! Thanks Sam.
Sorry but unfortunately it may not work on the W217H (I've never heard of anyone doing that, and haven't tried it myself)

You are very professional. From 🇲🇾🤝🏻🇮🇩.
Thank you. Salam dari Indonesia :)
it works quite well, though no alarm apparently at the end of the countdown?
Excellent. First class instructions.
Thank you for the appreciation :)
amazing!
Thanks for the video. Could you also show how to activate the 5 alarm feature please - i think it's a very useful feature to have. Cheers!
Sounds like a good idea, thank you :)
@@SamsWatchReview So you will make a video on how to activate the 5 alarms feature soon? That would be very helpful. Thanks.
Maybe not soon, but possibly some couple weeks from now :)
@@SamsWatchReview Great, looking forward to it. Thanks in advance !
Wow! now we need to find jumpers that will make the illumination "illuminator" instead of the faded crap in the corner of the dial.
Unfortunately there are no jumpers for it :D
@@SamsWatchReview,☹ that is sadly
Yes very useful. Why Casio remove this good functions?
Good question! Maybe that's their strategy for market segmentation :)
Making more money that's why.
Very amazing mod thanks ☺️👍 just try to find out for us which bullbar can be used on this model if you can please thanks 👍
Thank you for the appreciation.
By the way, haven't tried any bullbar yet, not sure which one will fit this series 🙂
@@SamsWatchReview okay bro try find if you can find and then post a video or reply if you can thanks in advance 👍😊
@@SamsWatchReview and by the way I already ordered the strap ae1000w 😂👍😊
Hello! Cool way to improve the watch! Does this method work with Casio W-217H, B650 models?
Great Video! Is this also possible with a W-218H?
Thank you. Unfortunately, it won't work on W218.
sorry, the timer does work; it is a soft beep. thanks for the video!
Thanks for the info!
А где сделанные 5- будильников ? :)
Why when u did the modification and before you assembled the watch there was no beeps sound while u testing? But the beeps works normally at the end
Yes, that's because the buzzer/beeper is attached to the inside of the backplate (the thing that looks like a small round sticker), and get the signal from the springs that contacts the backplate and the front side of the buzzer.
Can you try to do the same for the Casio CA-53W-1CR? Or any Casio calculator watch?
Unfortunately, nope. This hack usually works for W800, W96, and A178.
@@SamsWatchReview Dang it. Thanks though.
You're welcome:)
1:57 How do you do the reset if it needs it?
There are 2 holes, near the battery, and you just need to use a pair of tweezers to complete the circuit to reset it
will it still be waterproof?
If the re-assembly process is correct (rubber seal, screw tightening, etc.), then yes.
Had same question
hi, my watch dont have any sounds now, i still have the spring too
Could be the backplate is upsidedown, or the contact from the spring to the buzzer is covered by something
Is there a way to disable the button press beeps but keep the alarms working?

Why doesnt Casio have it enable by default?
That's a very good question, I also wonder about the same thing :)
makes no sense why casio didnt include this..
good point
On the contrary it makes lot of sense. This way, Casio can rip off more money from the people who want a CDT.
