Fate: "That wheel is not to be trusted, my rat brethren. It will take your sooooul!" oml now I'm imagining a conspiratorial tin foil hat rat converting all its rat kin and starting an anti-wheel cult XD
Funnily enough, that's more or less what happened! After Fate got spooked by the wheel, she refused to touch it and would run away if she accidentally brushed against it. Then she started "sacrificing" her favorite toys and treats to the wheel... she'd stash them in it, careful not to actually touch the wheel, and then pretend like they didn't exist anymore. She'd lie around bored because all her toys were sitting in the dreaded wheel now, and she could no longer touch them. Then the others started doing that too. In order to break the cycle, I had to take the wheel out of the cage until an entire generation of rats had passed, and the new babies never learned the old ways. Now my young rats (especially Smudge) love the wheel, and run on it all the time.
You would think my life of owning pet rats would have prepared me for the rat that I found in my pantry. NOPE. Waiting for hubby to come home and reclaim my kitchen because it belongs to him now.
This is such a clever idea! I'd like to commemorate mine this way but the first couple pairs were before smartphones. I'd say my winner troublemaker was the one who ate the earbud off of not one, but two Apple wired earbuds. Or the one who put a hole in my daughter's favorite sweater. Actually...there are a lot of examples.

My rats: Pixie: Absolute crackhead for cheerios, also half spider. Blondie: Teeniest girl I have ever seen, on the internet or in real life. So gentle. Poppy: Level 100 Sneak. *Activates camouflage* R.I.P. to Scout :'( Also, I used to have a leopard gecko that I named Parallax!! Such a good name. Oh, and my tiny girl Pixie also can't lick her butt without falling over on her back with one leg sticking straight up in the air lol

Why do so many rats sleep in the litterbox, I wonder? Parallax used to do that a lot as well... which is weird because she's such a clean freak when she's awake! She'd take toilet naps and then spend hours grooming herself 😂
My rat’s problem was that he used to bite me and latch onto my hand. He was never able to be tamed, but I still loved him and enjoyed watching him and talking to him. I really do miss him, he died last month. Rip Simon 💔

Kira: She'd be a little bit of an ass to her cage mate sometimes and she was a little shy but other then that one of the most well behaved rats ive had. Yetta: Ive seen her fall over into her waterbowl while drinking multiple times.

I used to have a rat named Bubbles. She was sweet but was a master escape artist. It wouldn't matter where you put her. She'd find a way to escape.
