Actually I did a little digging into this "Einsteinian Pain wave theory" and i found out that the word pain here is metaphorically used not literally. Basically this theory suggests that there are three types of Seismic waves that cause earthquake, 1. Primary , 2. Secondary , & 3 Pain waves. Primary and secondary seismic waves move swiftly and cause earthquake meanwhile pain waves build up pressure on the crust of the earth and after reachin a threshold earth crust breaks and reacts with earthquake.
Putting it Simply the word pain is metaphor in this theory and this theory has nothing to do with any kind of pain that living beings feel.

agriculture depends on cyclic availability of rains. too much or too less rain will destroy crops. Similarly earthquakes can lead to damage of crops and even change the entire course of river which again can cause havoc on agriculture.
Northern Indian plains is an ideal region for agriculture, we have abundant amount of alluvial soil in what is known as Indo-gangetic plain. we have plenty of land available for agriculture. thus over millennia people in India had to rely less on hunting and slaughtering of animals for food. which is why the Indian subcontinent historically have an affinity towards vegetarianism.

Uttarakhand and Gujarat are both some of the most vegetarian states in India and we know how well that worked out in stopping the Bhuj and Uttarakhand earthquakes.
