  • Many countries around the world are facing a shortage of qualified doctors. Several countries have taken steps in recent months to make achieving qualification as a doctor more accessible. But these attempts have been met with pushback from doctors, especially younger junior doctors, with many expressing frustration at having undertaken long and expensive degrees that will no longer have the same value. Some have taken their frustrations to extremes, with patients dying as junior doctors in South Korea strike.

We have so many doctors here in South Africa 🇿🇦 (the country that did the first heart transplant) that some of them are struggling to find work.

Governments funding college education including medical school and other professional and vocational programs and reforming healthcare systems would surely alleviate if not altogether eliminate these problems. Profile Cuba which educates way more doctors than they need.✌🏿

The vast majority of doctors don't want to climb down from their pedestals, yet they abandoned being prestigious doctors when they became pill pushers.

      Not all ...
There is still dignity in the field and this individuals have to work with dishonest people and disrespectful public...for Christ sake.. let's respect our police officers teachers and doctors more? Especially volunteers

@@jcmagnus Why do you feel the need to specify "not all".
The vast majority means not all.
There are some amazing doctors that deserve all the respect and prestige.

Absolutely!! I have a lot of serious health problems which means that I meet a lot of doctors in different disciplines and hospitals. Almost all of them are extremely professional, especially when you meet them in a&e . To keep their patience and humour in a busy a&e department is a true test. Yet everywhere I go I see posters pointing out the obvious which is that medical staff should not be abused and attacked! I meet wonderful doctors from all around the world and have a huge respect for how they manage.
