I used to think that “My family lives in a different state” meant a state like Wisconsin or Alaska. But after losing my little one, I now feel it more as a different state of being or life. After suffering a loss, even if it was inevitable or a blessing after a period of suffering, you can’t help but miss like hell little things about that person, like just seeing her face each and every day. We don’t have a reset button in life, no matter how loudly we beg for one. And so my family - my whole life as I knew it for all those years - lives on without me in a different state. One that I cannot visit until my time comes. Those that tell you to just “move on” don’t really get it; they cannot relate. You have to experience tremendous loss to know what it feels like. It’s lonely and heartbreaking, but I carry on each and every day, holding onto hope that one day, we will all be together in our new state. ❤
Just "moving on " isn't easy at all!! You have put all those memories and pains into a closet in your mind. But you KNOW they are still all in there, and sometimes you just HAVE TO open the door and let them tumble out, both good and bad ones. You sit there thinking about all of them, finally put them away, until the next time you want to see and feel them.
End of summer 2016. I spent 5 months working with a bunch of strangers in the middle of nowhere Alaska. We became a tight knit group of people all running from something, searching for something or trying to become something in the last frontier. The last night of the season, a bunch of us all mobbed out to a bar called The Spike which was a refurbished train car in the middle of the woods. The bartender put this song on before closing and every single one of us sang our hearts out. That was the most alive I’ve ever felt and I miss it ever day..

The Head and the Heart is an awesome band of singer-songwriters in the indie and folk genres (similar to Colorado's Gregory Alan Isakov, whom I strongly recommend to those who like this music). Their music features great guitars, violin, and banjo; which in my humble opinion are three of the most beautiful musical instruments. Their voices and music are soothing and refreshing and the lyrics are poetic and beautiful. I'm so glad and blessed to be discovering this kind of music. Great things can happen when we allow our minds to explore and when we mature with time...
This was my brother's graduation song which was yesterday... we were never close and after he walked out of the school a ran up and gave him a hug for the first time in probably 6 years. I'll miss him so much and I've been listening to this song and thinking about all the subtle things he's done for me that completely define who I am... I love him. I literally been crying for an hour I was watching a TV show called New Amsterdam ( it's a medical one) Where I got to this scene of an 18 yrs old boy who has diagnosed with cancer and he only has 4 months to live ,and he decided not to tell his parents that he is dying , so he recorded a goodbye video for them , and here I have matched my situation where I'm living far away from home forcibly and not getting to see my beloved mom in person , not seeing my whole family and close friends anymore , having to deal with this new life all by myself , gosh it's sooooo hard. I literally cried my eyes out.

This band and this song are MUCH better than any TV show. So please - give thanks to the band for being awesome and creating this music, not some TV show.
