  • Gretchen Rubin is the author of the #1 New York Times and international bestseller, The Happiness Project-an account of the year she spent test-driving the wisdom of the ages, current scientific studies, and lessons from popular culture about how to be happier. On her popular blog, The Happiness Project, she reports on her daily adventures in pursuit of happiness.
A "happiness project" is more than a book and a blog-it's a movement, an approach to life. Happiness Project groups have sprung up across the world, where people pursue their own happiness projects; book groups discuss the book, psychiatrists suggest it to their patients, professors assign it. The Happiness Project was even an answer on the game-show Jeopardy!
A graduate of Yale and Yale Law School, Rubin started her career in law, and she was clerking for Justice Sandra Day O'Connor when she realized she wanted to be a writer.
About TEDx: In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
