Not sure if you mentioned it in the video or if I just missed it. You said that the Boots of the Shadow Flame should go to dagger rogues, but why should sword rogues go for 8 set piece more than dagger rogues?
The assumption going into bwl is that ages core leather gloves and the individual best items will be better than 8 set t2 for daggers. This could change depending on t2 proc chance
The Proc is better for swords. The extra procs from sword spec combined with a higher chance to proc per hit due to how ppm procs work result in more procs.
Hey man had a question I have trouble finding where felstriker works in all of this is it better in offhand than corehounds? Should I be using it main hand if I have corehounds? Please let me know! Thanks!
to all my fellow rogues.. the reason why DFT is so high on the list is because basically every PDPS Class wants it.. my guild is running a DKP System and all the other Rogues already spend points on T2 Set items this week while i currently save all my Points for either DFT or CTS.. if you're playing a Human Combat Sword Rogue you can skip MALADATH completely Brutality Blade in the OH is better for Humans than Maladath. DPS wise the 2 best Upgrades in BWL for you are T2 Chest and CTS...while these items are better upgrades DPS wise now though in long term thinking DFT is BIS until P6 so you might wanna get DFT first if you can.
@@Zatar oh thank you for answer my question. Ancient Qiraji Ripper is really good ,but it is 58 damage per second too, so if i get chromatically tempered sword, i dont need to change my weapon before naxx right?
The reason we are assuming dagger is not going to use it is because of aged core leather gloves. The increased damage from the weapon skill combined with the fact that you don't have to equip every piece of tier 2 will outperform the 8 set. This could all change depending on the proc rate in classic.
as a dagger rogue im planning on t2 head chest bracers belt pants for my 5set. And core leather glove fs,as long as shadow flame boots. But how would u suggests between t2 shoulder and dragonhide(30sta,46ap)
Why is that every time someone comes up with some kind of BiS list they want you to stack hit like there is no other stat. This is the same. Hit, hit and more hit?
It's not that we are intentionally stacking hit, it is that all the good items have hit in blackwing lair. You can choose to use items without hit, but then you'll have less crit, attack power, and hit. Also hit is really good in raiding.
because it's a proc which does damage as well as heals, that's big. Dagger rogues have other items they need to have equipped like core hound gloves with the +daggers on it.
But that's not how Rogue damage works in pve. Most of your damage will come from auto attacks, and depending on how many buffs you use, you might already be at the auto attack crit cap. Meaning that unless you get more hit, you will miss so many of your auto attacks that you lose out on crit percent. Even if you are not facing the crit cap, one percent hit increases your damage almost as much as one percent crit.
I think it could be debatable depening on proc chance that going 8/8 as a dagger rogue would be better. You already get +5 to daggers from talents. So the other +5 you get from aged core is wasted because the ideal wep skill is 308. After that its not efficient to keep stacking wep skill. So I would assumed losing out on 3 wep skill would be ok considering you would be gaining that massive proc chance from 8/8. Would love to hear other’s opinions on this.
I never wanted to tank and i always ad my eye boots of the vanguard and i said give it to someone else but still they gave me shadow flame boots bro they gave me the head i never used it even once rofl. F
regarding your glancing blows dmg, it's incorrect, it decreases over all weaponskill bonuses, at 5 weapskill you are down to 15% glaning dmg instead of 40, and at 8 skill you're down to 5%
Why am I not super stoked about Maldrath? I just really like a faster oh. Anyone else agree? Sure its great but its not anything absurd. Id prefer 1.7-1.9 ias oh
@@Zatar if you have CTS MH, is BB still better than Viskag for offhand? I would think Viskag would be an upgrade due to higher DPS, and slow offhands are no longer an issue due to normalised procs across all weapon speeds right?
Carbon sorry wrote +15 while looking at agi. Anyways +100 str occasionally is not better than 150% of +5 wep damage every Backstab. Backstab scales off of weapon damage + ap. If your weapon is 100 top end damage and you enchant it to 105. Your backstab scales 150% or 105. That’s more than 100 str
9% to not miss yellow hits against a boss. every point in hit ontop of that means you hti more whites. since these make up to 50% of your damage, you will want to maximise it. also, the higher your hit, the further your crit cap expands, but that's advanced stuff that you shouldn't worry about yet.
Doesn't give Drake Fang Talisman and Boots of the Shadow Flame far too much unnecessary hit for rogues? They get for free 5% in talents and don't need that much additional pieces with hit, becouse set pieces and necklaces alone are enough to get the crucial 9%. I think warriors (tanks and dps) und feral druids have much more prio and benefits with DFT and BotSF.
Its kind of the opposite actually. Rogue is the only class that needs hit past the (6/9%). So while it might be harder for pther classes to hit their hit cap, rogue is the only class that never stops getting hit (hit cap is 25% for us).
@@Zatar I read about that 25% hit cap too, recently but the infos are very unspecific. I think with 9% hit all your abilities should always hit. Additional hit should only benefit ur auto attacks. Is it worth to stack that much hit when u rather can stack other useful stats like crit, agi or ap?
@@RhoxTheHero Most of a rogue's damage comes from auto attacks, which means hit is still very valuable beyond the soft cap. You're not purposefully trying to stack hit after soft cap, you just go for whatever items that increase your dps the most, and in bwl that happens to be items with a lot of hit. And that's actually very good for dagger rogues because in current bis gear and with full world buffs they are hitting crit cap, which means they need more hit. (More hit increases the crit cap).
First of all u cant reach 25% hit. While u can say that hit is useful above 9%, its not that beneficial if you aint hitting that hard cap. You can get better stuff instead of excess hit. But on current phase you dont have that many options. It all comes down to how good t2 8 piece set is. But definitely having 15-16% hit is just nonsense.
@@ΠέτροςΜεσουρίδης you clearly have an agenda as to why your class deserves it more than rogues. 15-16% hit is huge cause our autos now do more damage which is where more than 50% of our damage comes from. Its not about missing in this situation as to why we want the hit, its due to the fact that it allows our autos to hit harder. Warriors should not be prio on this item (exception to the main tank, but wars are getting flask that gives 75 strength so really its not needed still), warriors can heroic strike queue and not have to worry about their autos missing. Feral... maybe if you have a good feral tank who's ACTUALLY tanking bosses, then yea I'd consider him. People above have given you plenty of good responses as to why the hit is important to a rogue, but you continue to ignore what they're saying and claim they're wrong. Eat your vegetables big brain boy.
I talked about it toward the end. TL DR it's really good, but it is not bis in main or off hand. For that reason if you do not already have epic daggers It's really good and worth picking up, but obviously still worse than perdition's blade and Core Hound Tooth.
Zatar oh okay i must have missed it- thank you for the reply! I’m actually highest in dkp and I’ve been waiting on perditions for weeks now and I was debating on whether or not to take this or keep waiting for perditions so I’ll def stick to waiting on perditions if it ever drops :/
Taut dragonhide shoulder pads are way better in terms of pure stats. If you are going for the nightslayer 5 set, depending on which pieces you have nightslayer shoulders can be better Even the blue PVP set shoulders are better, because they're about as good, and you can pair them with another piece for the set bonus. All in all you are pretty much never equipping these shoulders unless you have the eight set in PVE or you don't have any other shoulders available.
The worst advice you could possibly give a melee class, is prioritising a trinket over any weapon. Despite the hit which is already obtained through pre BiS; DFT's 4 sustained dps vs CTS' base damage alone, isn't on par to any other upgrade, in addition to the 2 dps from the swords' stats. If you're a sword Rogue, DO NOT hold out DKP for this trinket over the main hand. If the CTS drops, go all in. Mala drops more often.
I agree if the sword drops first, that it would be a good idea to spend dkp for it, however, if you would ask me which of two items I'd rather have, focusing purely on PVE, I would take the trinket. You also imply that you get the hit you need from pre-bis, but as a rogue hit has value until you are hard hit cap at 25% While the immediate damage increase from CTS over Viskag is greater than dft over crit trinket, I think the long-term value for DFT cannot be overstated. If dft dropped before cts, would you all in on it?
@@Zatar Rule 101 weapons are better that any other slot regardless of PvE focus or not. And ironically, if PvE is your priority, then you should be favouring all the hit you can get. Edit: And no, as mentioned, I hold out for the biggest upgrades first. DFT can wait when you can run with DM's Seal.
@@kevinkennedy2819 And everyone will get it when BWL is on farm. It isn't a game changer in terms of damage meters. Roll this off to the rest of the raid so you get sword priority, and then you'll get this for free because everyone else has it. There actual difference is that everyone hears how DFT lasts till AQ40 but it really isn't worth shit.
You shouldnt. Corehound has 1% crit, 20 ap and 1.6 speed vs 16agi, better dps and 1.8 speed of Dragonfang. Corehound wins easily since it boosts your main attacks more. Also Dragonfang never really competes against CTH since DF is mainhand due its speed and CTH is offhand. DF is forever a weapon with "use it if you dont have anything better"-tag on it.
Even thou i enjoy watching your guides, but one thing bothers me, too much jada jada, u may want to keep it short and skip extra jada away. I actually had to skip some of the stuff cuz it was getting boring and not required information. Anyways keep em coming.
What are you valuing crit and hit at, as a dagger rogue your gonna have like 19% hit when you equip full bis, at that point is it not better to take stuff like bf boots due to the fact your also picking a bit of crit up instead of massively overcapping on hit?
Simply put your auto attacks will do more damage to raid bosses if you have 308 weapon skill. I explain it further in this video when I talk about Maladath.
4:20 its not that its not good for human rogues, its just not *as good* for human rogues as it is for non-human rogues. but then, if you're alliance and you're a non-human rogue, why are you using swords? use daggers.
@@autistusmaximus8040 I'm not familiar with Skarm. I'm guessing Skarm is a feral druid? But the stats on those boots would be great for a Feral Druid. The stam and armor is excellent for druids. If there's no Feral I would def take em. I play a dagger rogue.
@@slaen1500 Skarm is a very competent tank in general, and the hit on those boots make them the perfect pair for ferals both metigation and threat wise. It woulf be cruel to counsil these to a rogue over a feral tank. If no feral tanks in the guild, sure a rogue could benefit but not nearly as much as ferals could.
Combat rogues are not touching Boots of the Shadowflame whatsoever. Any guild that has a feral tank and gives the boots to a dagger rogue first is a shit guild. Combat rogues won’t break 8/8 T2 until T2.5. Master Dragonslayer’s Ring is not bis until Naxxramas. It’s replaced by Signet Ring of the Bronze Flight.
Once ferals / daggers have the boots, they are great for combat until they can assemble 8/8. The two rings are nearly identical. Most people rate agi as worth 2 ap (when buffed).
why do you think items without agility and critical strike for dagger rougs? we have daggers, isnt that obvious? only swords should have items with attack power and hit .....we are doing more dmg from abilities than sword rogues and need only 6% for that i use only backstab and it uses weapon dmg, not stupid attack power and 20% hit or what you think should we have....so if i have very very high crit (40%) and crit every backstab with 100% hit.....i think its much better than what you choose.....you should calcute it
First of all attack power increases your auto attack and ability damage. Also, in PVE over half of your damage will come from Auto attacks even as dagger. As you get more agi and crit will hit the crit cap with your auto attacks if you do not have enough hit. Basically what that means is it you miss too much you will be missing so much with your auto attacks that it eats into your Critical Strike. This is because you obviously cannot crit on an attack that misses. So hit is very important for Rogues, even dagger Rogues. And keep in mind while you can gain crit from various consumables and world buffs oh, you cannot get hit so easily.
@@Zatar then it makes sense, i thought AP only adds damage per second - dmg from auto attack, not from ability and dmg is the most important with single bosses, as i can for every boss use adrenaline rush + thistle tea, with 40% crit i think the auto attack is just a pure joke for daggers....also, did you consider perditions blade + 5dmg enchant + 8dmg sharpening over instant poison?
1. You gotta edit your videos. So much stutter, breath taking breaks, random pauses, and plenty of useless talk. Makes all the useful info hard to get to. 2. With Maladath -- how about it giving human rogues the ability to spend 1 of their talent points somewhere else?
Due to the nature of how the combat tree works the extra talent points are near useless. You could get 2% increase poison damage and another combat Talent that doesn't increase damage. All in all not worth when you could instead using offhand that increases your damage. On your first point, would you kindly point me to what was useless. I would appreciate it and I appreciate the feedback.

@@Zatar Yeah that makes sense! Thanks for the answer dude! Good video as well :)
Why 8piece T2 bonus is for swords and not for daggers? Thank u for the answer!
The Proc is better for swords. The extra procs from sword spec combined with a higher chance to proc per hit due to how ppm procs work result in more procs.

to all my fellow rogues.. the reason why DFT is so high on the list is because basically every PDPS Class wants it.. my guild is running a DKP System and all the other Rogues already spend points on T2 Set items this week while i currently save all my Points for either DFT or CTS.. if you're playing a Human Combat Sword Rogue you can skip MALADATH completely Brutality Blade in the OH is better for Humans than Maladath.
DPS wise the 2 best Upgrades in BWL for you are T2 Chest and CTS...while these items are better upgrades DPS wise now though in long term thinking DFT is BIS until P6 so you might wanna get DFT first if you can.

why is bloodfang set so good for sword rogue?
The reason we are assuming dagger is not going to use it is because of aged core leather gloves. The increased damage from the weapon skill combined with the fact that you don't have to equip every piece of tier 2 will outperform the 8 set.
This could all change depending on the proc rate in classic.

Also hit is really good in raiding.
best ring set for combat spec into bwl? QSR and Don julios band, or Major Mojo infusion set
Band of Accuria and Master Dragonslayer's ring.
The major mojo infusion set comes out in zg and is worse than the 2 rings I mentioned

it is.
what makes you say that 8pc bloodfang is good? i cant find any info on why a sword rogue would want 8pc over the offset items or BiS for that phase.
because it's a proc which does damage as well as heals, that's big. Dagger rogues have other items they need to have equipped like core hound gloves with the +daggers on it.
@@SkullatorNZ but is the proc better DPS than having the off pieces for a sword rogue? Not talking about daggers
I think you should say that these items are only BIS and most wanted if you arent hit capped. you should go for crit and agi after that
But that's not how Rogue damage works in pve.
Michael Simpson going from 305 to 310 weapon skill increases glancing blow damage from 85% to 95%, seems pretty significant.

regarding your glancing blows dmg, it's incorrect, it decreases over all weaponskill bonuses, at 5 weapskill you are down to 15% glaning dmg instead of 40, and at 8 skill you're down to 5%

Why am I not super stoked about Maldrath? I just really like a faster oh. Anyone else agree? Sure its great but its not anything absurd. Id prefer 1.7-1.9 ias oh

Yes for pve
a guildy said i need 13% hit with my gear out of BWL what is the meaning of this. is the 9% total not enough?
9% to not miss yellow hits against a boss.
every point in hit ontop of that means you hti more whites. since these make up to 50% of your damage, you will want to maximise it.
also, the higher your hit, the further your crit cap expands, but that's advanced stuff that you shouldn't worry about yet.
Hybridsixtynine 6% to not miss yellow. New values found months ago
What about Dragonfang Blade?
I talked about it toward the end. TL DR it's really good, but it is not bis in main or off hand. For that reason if you do not already have epic daggers It's really good and worth picking up, but obviously still worse than perdition's blade and Core Hound Tooth.
Zatar oh okay i must have missed it- thank you for the reply! I’m actually highest in dkp and I’ve been waiting on perditions for weeks now and I was debating on whether or not to take this or keep waiting for perditions so I’ll def stick to waiting on perditions if it ever drops :/
Why are the shoulders not good in pvp? Dodge is great for pvp plus they have better stats than any other shoulders for pvp.
Taut dragonhide shoulder pads are way better in terms of pure stats.
If you are going for the nightslayer 5 set, depending on which pieces you have nightslayer shoulders can be better
Even the blue PVP set shoulders are better, because they're about as good, and you can pair them with another piece for the set bonus.
All in all you are pretty much never equipping these shoulders unless you have the eight set in PVE or you don't have any other shoulders available.
@@Zatar Ok, that's a fair point but dodge is still really good in pvp even without the 8 set, especially if you don't have epic shoulders yet.
You also imply that you get the hit you need from pre-bis, but as a rogue hit has value until you are hard hit cap at 25%
While the immediate damage increase from CTS over Viskag is greater than dft over crit trinket, I think the long-term value for DFT cannot be overstated.

Roll this off to the rest of the raid so you get sword priority, and then you'll get this for free because everyone else has it.
There actual difference is that everyone hears how DFT lasts till AQ40 but it really isn't worth shit.
@@YTCENS0R Its a 15% drop chance. So 1 every 6.66 weeks. Most raids will have about 15 melee. That's 100 weeks for everyone in the raid to get a DFT.
I honestly preferred dragonfang blade in offhand compared to the tooth.

What are you valuing crit and hit at, as a dagger rogue your gonna have like 19% hit when you equip full bis, at that point is it not better to take stuff like bf boots due to the fact your also picking a bit of crit up instead of massively overcapping on hit?
As a rogue you don't stop getting hit until you're at 25%, the hard cap.
@@Zatar ok cool but with that said, what's your crit value in terms of ap, and what is your hit valued at before and after 9% if you dont mind?

Master Dragonslayer’s Ring is not bis until Naxxramas. It’s replaced by Signet Ring of the Bronze Flight.

@@Zatar what does that mean 1 agi is worth 2 ap?
Very helpful. a like and sub from me 👍
why do you think items without agility and critical strike for dagger rougs? we have daggers, isnt that obvious? only swords should have items with attack power and hit .....we are doing more dmg from abilities than sword rogues and need only 6% for that
i use only backstab and it uses weapon dmg, not stupid attack power and 20% hit or what you think should we have....so if i have very very high crit (40%) and crit every backstab with 100% hit.....i think its much better than what you choose.....you should calcute it
First of all attack power increases your auto attack and ability damage.
@@Zatar then it makes sense, i thought AP only adds damage per second - dmg from auto attack, not from ability
and dmg is the most important with single bosses, as i can for every boss use adrenaline rush + thistle tea, with 40% crit i think the auto attack is just a pure joke for daggers....also, did you consider perditions blade + 5dmg enchant + 8dmg sharpening over instant poison?
