The men had got the wrong address and the homeowners kids where in the front room and had got covered in glass. They stood there dumbfounded with shock. To have a shotgun is increasingly difficult and only allowed under very specific circumstances. The travelers don't need guns for the most part because the people they rob don't have guns. There are 3 main groups of Travellers in the UK. Irish Gypsies, Roma and New Age Travellers. For Irish Gypsies think of Tyson Fury, or Brad Pitt's character in Snatch. They are not the same as real Gypsies who are the "Roma". The Roma's much older ancestry actually originates from India.
New age travellers are more like hippies that live in communes and take copius amounts of drugs. None of them really mix, but all of them are infamous (and sometimes warranted) for fighting and stealing.

They are possibly the reason Northern European languages have a close connection with Indian Sanskrit as does Romani, and they probably fled the Mughal and Mongolian Empires in India and Central Asia but those are just guesses to be honest. Can you confirm?

Something similar happened 20ish years ago where I used to live. The homeowner actually pulled the yob through the window and kicked the crap out of the kid in his living room. The men had got the wrong address and the homeowners kids where in the front room and had got covered in glass. They stood there dumbfounded with shock. At that point the neighbours had come out and pasted the lot of them. They then made the gobshites empty their pockets to pay for the damage. Never saw them again. That's Firth Park for you. Used to be one of the most desirable places to live in Sheffield.

I live in a small town in cork where there is a lovely beach and every summer these knackers come down from the holes they have crawled from and rob the shop i work in constantly and shout abuse at us and everyone else for absolutely no reason it’s the only time me and the locals don’t feel safe here
