    I'm a Cuban jew my relatives escaping Europe...so I make great white Cuban rice...last nite I cooked some and added your burned sugar to it...I thought it would be sweet but no it added a bit of taste and a great color....I use jasmine rice...I'm sure I will be making it and adding the carrots and raisins to it...very cool

    I would love to try this dish. I love Afghan food. It is nice to know that traditional family dishes are being passed down to the younger generation. The chef is beautiful!

    Wow. As I was watching this, I smelled the cooking and flavors as it progressed. Thanks for sharing what I know is dear for you. Your mothers , one of her best dishes. I am so glad she passed it down to you. It's interesting that though labor intensive and everyone gobbles it up in a short time. I know it is very good for you. Thanks for sharing.

    well i have been cooking this for years and this is the exactly right way of cooking it. Different people prefer different versions of it. I just wanted to state that she has not cooked it in a wrong way. Go Afghan woman we are proud of you :D

    I'm a Filipina! I just came from a "World Feast" in Oudenaarde Belgium - 2012, and found out that Chicken Biriyani was the most delicious meal on that event. So, when I came home I opened youtube and looked for Biriyani, but this Pilau Rice has caught my attention 'coz it's not only special, it also is presentable...I'll try this recipe at home at a party!

    I make this dish every once in a while and I LOVE it, but not in this style; as you said every family has their own version. But I'm glad to see this version of kabuli Palau and InshaAllah I'll definitely try it.

    Im indian and had my first taste of afghan food the other day and I cannot stop thinking about how delicious the rice was, similar to our biryani but not many spices and it was brown like this no carrots though, where can I find a simple afghani rice recipe? Such a beutiful sister somproud of her for wearing hijab afghans cook lovely food

      +Mala Khan: All Pashtoons are Afghans, whether they live in Pakistan, Afghanistan or any place in the world.

      +Mala Khan All Pashtoons are Afghans by Race, But All Afghans are not Pashtoons. The Persians and the Mughals called the Pashtoons as Afghans, The Indians and the British called the Pashtoons as Pathans. Hope u understand the Difference now.

    I love love love Afghan rice! This is going to be my first time attempting this national dish so I'm really excited to make it and this video has boosted my confidence.
