78 years old and am going to give this a try. Just finish my cup of tea and I’m going to my paper and brushes and paints. Maureen. Sheffield. U.k.
My dear friend, while others may have already done this technique in the past (or not, I have no idea), to me you have taken your skills and your presentation to an entirely new level. This was just a complete, unexpected blast to right field, zipping over the bleachers and into the parking lot. So well done and you make it seem effortless. How ten people clicked "dislike" shows they are just incapable of handling this kind of bold, courageous step outside of one's comfort zone and into the sheer realm of pure learning, experimentation, and fun. Again, I've never seen you do this before, so maybe it's something you've been at for years, but for me - this was the epitome of The Mind of Watercolor. ~ Mark
Wow, I blush under such compliments. Thanks my friend. Your words means a lot.

P.S I am behind a few days on the Month. Trying to catch up which as you know is not always a good thing. !
Really wonderful painting. I love it. Thank you for showing.
It occurred to me that this ability to tease out a painting from drips, has to be a result of many years of practice and devotion to your art: l have little experience, but l realised my ability to coordinate my mind and my body has improved with the little l've accomplished. And, congratulations!
Looks like fun .. Thanks... Will try it for sure. It's good for scardy cat artists like .me.
You show us such cool.things
It’s amazing looks like a lake or river in the front ⭐️
Fun! You're right! So much fun!
I just joined Mind of Watercolor...….Steve I love your tutorials on line wash w/pen and ink!! TU
congratulations! Well deserved. This painting is amazing!
love your work, and you are so entertaining
gosh thats nice beyond nice but I think you know what I mean . as I'm playing with water color this month , thanks to you I am understanding things better. I made a bunch of miniatures which I framed today and posted on IG . I am totally thrilled with it . the littlest one is 3 by 3 inches. and yes I used reference photos and adapted every single piece . I always make it my own. the train rails I did from my head . and the tree in the centre of the frame .
its like watching Bob Ross only with water color... all you need is some happy trees! Amazing talent!
I'd lost my water colour mojo and came back to your paintings, thanks. Find your videos inspiring, calming and instructive. So enjoyable to watch and learn.
Amazing. Watercolour at its best.
Congratulation! And thank you sharing this technique. I'll try it today because it's just so intresting and fun!!! Kiss from France !
So amazing thank-you for these spontaneous tutorials I just love them.
Congrats on your milestone!! 🎈🎊🎉🍾🎈🎊🎉!!!
Big congratulations! I really needed to see that verse too.
Wow! Congradulations Steve on Subscribers. Not sure how long I've been a subscribing, but was going thru old notes from when I started watercolor & found notes on 2 of your video my date was Oct 2015. So I must have found you in your First year of UTube. One of the videos was on making a color viewer. & the other was on finding good Art Instruction sources & "Visual Overload" you likened to Carnival Barkers. Bravo to you & your honest content.
Another fantastic spontaneous painting. I purchased Nita Engle's book at your recommendation. It is a great resource! Looking forward to trying this drip method! Thanks, Steve!
Delightful landscape. Thank you for sharing watercolor techniques with us for 5 years!
Congrats on 200k and beautiful painting
Congratulations on 200K+ subscribers! Thank you so much for sharing and teaching. You have a heart for this I think.

I just love your style and technique !!!! On top of that, your explanations are clear ! Thank you so much !!! I am still a beginner but I am going to try a free landscape very soon!!! . V. G. From Lomé, Togo.
That's some really striking granulation! The painting is really beautiful. And congrats on the milestones!! :D
Thanks so much Eve. I was very surprised at how much the Cobalt Violet granulated. Works well here though I think.
Omg. This is so fabulous! I can wait to try your spontaneous techniques. You certainly need an imagination. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talents with all of us. Congrats too❤️❤️❤️❤️
I don’t know how I stumbled across your channel a couple months ago, but I am so glad I did. I’ve watched about 3/4 of your episodes so far. I hadn’t painted for about 20 years, but was inspired BY YOU to gather my old supplies, let go and paint. Thank you for inspiration, positive vibes and wonderful lessons!
Please tell me the size of that quill you began with. This is a beautiful, peaceful painting and I’d like to give this technique a try. CONGRATULATIONS on inspiring over 200,000 people!

Congratulation Steve! Fun video also.
Congratulations 🍾🎊🎉 revolutionary in a way of why didn’t I think of this before 😍
Wow. I am new to watercolor and this just amazed me. Your work is spot on but I do see that I have to change my paper. I just watched your video comparing paper and I see what I’m using just won’t make it. Your work is wonderful thank you for sharing.
I’ve started to watch you much more often. In the past I’ve watched you from time to time and have learned a lot from Elem. The more I watch the more I learn and enjoy. These last two paintings I watched with you using this technique I’d just love. I can hardly wait to try them myself.
Steven you made magic!! I too have Nita Engle's book which I love.My husband who doesn't paint was most impressed. At last he understood more why I struggle with wet on wet and other techniques. Love your videos, and thank you.
Amazing and fascinating and beautiful!
Congratulations!! Gorgeous painting!!
Gorgeous painting and colors!
Just wonderful!!! Thanks 😊
Hi Steve! It is just past 6 years now and I have loved all your videos 2 or 3 + times each. I look forward to your new videos and I am a Patreon subscriber of yours also. I have added many more tools in my art chest that you have taught, THANK YOU. I have the book you showed and have many times used it as a reference. This looks so fun, I am going to give it a go. Thank you for all you do for us out here in You Tube land.

Reaally great demo to have a go at. Thanks Steve.
THIS DID TURN OUT AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL! NOW I'VE BEEN WISHING THE LORD WOULD GIVE ME MORE TIME & STRENGTH & ENERGY HERE ON EARTH, PARTLY TO SEMI-MIMIC SOME OF YOUR ARTWORK 😁

Oh, and congrats on the 5 years anniversary and 200k subscribers 👍
Oh and congrats on the UA-cam milestones. I'll check out Engle's work, thanks for sharing.
What a great painting!!
Congratulations. What an achievement. I have watched all your videos and live shows many times. Without a doubt you are the best on the web.
Wow is right. Gorgeous!
Amazing little areas of depth and great subtle contrast 😍 yes, I'm watching it again 🤣🍒
Congrats on 200k viewers! Thanks for what you do!!!!
Wow! I’m not very good at loose & splotchy but I might have to try this!
Fantastic.you are soo talented. Thank you so much.
One-third the way through this wonderful book! If you struggle with trying to be looser in your painting, this book will really help and yet, Nita's results are also startlingly realistic and impressionistic at the same time. What is also of tremendous value is her explanation of how to develop your own style by means of thinking about a vision you want to achieve.
There is sooo much to get from this book and her exercises have also helped me. Once again, Steve, I thank you. BTW, your adaption of her technique ,though admittedly simplified, is a helpful way to start. I began with a seascape and used your guidance by directing the free flowing water I sprayed on and later added contrasting touches when the paint dried, as you did in this video.
I had given up on Watercolour books,(PS I'm Canadian and that's how we spell), but this one is a must read. Encore, Merci Steve
I have to keep trying but so far have not been able to get the spontaneous "mess" to develop into the amazing art you do! That's why you are the master and I am still a student. Thank you!
Great tutorial! Beautiful outcome
Beautiful!!! thanks for sharing!
no guts no glory - beautifully done....
Wonderful idea. Thank you for explaining as you go along. So many of the water color videos on UA-cam are worthless; the painter merrily goes along while we watch AND SAYS NOTHING by way of explanation. This video is very helpful.
Congratulations on 200,000 and 5 years on youtube! Love your videos, learn so much from you.
Thanks Steve!💜
Wow beautiful painting, thank you
Spuperb... I will definitely try this..
Congratulations Steve!! This is a fabulous painting!!
Nice to have such an audience. Congratulations. My drip painting turned out magnificent!
The Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer will give you spatters. It has two setting: fine spray and spatter spray.
Good to know thanks!
Wow! I love this painting and congrats on hitting that 201K! I love your videos!
Five years??!! Didn't it go by in a blink! 200K subscribers! Bravo! Hats off! So well deserved! Words can't express....your sense of humor, awesome T-shirts, conversations with Reece, and one of the best watercolorists and teachers on UA-cam. Thank You Steve! 💕
That was so fun to watch! But also a bit unnerving. It's so hard for me to just let things run and pool. I'm trying though. The finished painting is beautiful! I really love the colors.
Really impressive and inspiring
This turned out great!!
