I love watching your tutorials. As a retired digital arts teacher, I find your teaching throughly understandable, interesting and doable. So many artists are good artists, and poor teachers. You have the gift of both. I’m new to watercolor and have learned so much from your tutorials. Please please keep your wonderful tutorials coming. God bless you for sharing your amazing talent.
Hey Steve something I'd like to try is using the spontaneous technique on sections of the painting versus the whole thing. For instance, areas that are left after painting a strong center of interest. Sometimes I have a bit of trouble deciding what should go in those areas - spontaneous painting could provide an interesting way to fill in the rest of compositions. Thanks for developing this idea for us!
I found this so interesting - I am a spontaneous painter - seldom have much of a plan first, nor do I make a color chart or anything like that. Can't wait to try this - I was expecting you to do water - making the lower half reflections. Loved this - thank you.
Steve, when you added those rocks, the painting really came alive. I have enjoyed watching you progress in your skill. Your tenacity is inspiring! Thank you to you and Strathmore for these videos! So kind! I feel now as if I can reasonably try this form of painting with some success. God’s blessings!
Thank you so much Steve, I really really enjoyed watching and listening to you create this beautiful and superb piece. I absolutely love ❤❤❤❤ it. You are very very talented and creative too and I’m thoroughly enjoying your work shops. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
Good morning sir, it is really great to see how paint tell us what to do next, and the landscapes are very beautiful indeed. In this particular exercise I saw the reflections of the trees in water, whether a river or a lake...but you left the paint running on on side. That is a choice I guess. Thank you so much for the videos, very useful and relaxing like one of your landscapes
Hullo Steve, I may wait until another day to watch your last offering from this series. You an amazing Artist, yet I am feeling to much envy at the present moment! This is another wonderful painting, thanks for continuing this process and I know I just need to do more and I will take your advise and just not take it personally when it is not as fabulous as your creations! See ya next time Steve. Please take care and have yourself a lovely day!
I love this one even the colors are so summery, the rocks are so cool! I want to walk through this and just be absorbed in the forest, to smell the earthy fragrance. Thank you Steve this one really is special to me.💖
What a great learning experience! Teaching a looser type painting and using your imagination. I need to try this method…..81 YY and still learning! Loving this! Thank you!
I am in awe, thank you so very much, this has been so very helpful and inspirational, I lack confidence as a beginner, I now feel I can practice this and really understand more how watercolour works, absolutely wonderful. I look forward to more 😊😊😊
Wow! Such wonderful lessons! Always something to learn....Going to watch next lesson and then do some practicing...Can't wait! Thank you SO MUCH, Steve! Invaluable!!
You’re such a good teacher! 😮 I’m now very inspired to make a spontaneous watercolor. I had almost given up painting. But you made me take it up again. Thank you! ❤😊
oooohhhh my Goodness me!!! I'm so glad I've stumbled across your tutorials, I'm so looking forward to trying this type of watercolour, I absolutely love this style.
I imagined you making a lake in the front with those bottom parts as reflections 😊 I really want to try this. Loved all 4 episodes. You are a good teacher with great explanations. I've watched loose painting before but you made it make sense. Thank you.
Am I the only one who saw a big bird (belly and legs) into this round thing he found disturbing ? And then, he worked on it and it looked like a horse... And I see the face of a little boy down on the left side, looking at the horse with sunglasses on. Very interesting tutorial series, thank you !
Steve this has been the most exciting and informative series on spontaneous landscapes. The main thing I will take away from it is the water control ... when you bleed away the edges there is hardly any water ... I would normally flood that area to blend it out!?
Love this series. These types of Landscapes I enjoy doing the most. By the way, I love your water pots. Are they an available to purchase or one of a kind? The ridge rims would be useful it seems for wiping the brush.
I don't understand how this is wet on dry if you are spraying your paper and then putting the wet paint into the water on the page? Isn't that wet on wet?
Who else gets excited watching paint run down the page by itself 🤩🤩🤩
I am LOVING this technique. Thank you for this series!
Beautiful, dreamy, so talented.
Wow! Came together like magic. You’re a master with that rigger.
Stunning! Thank you so much!!!
❤❤❤this!!! Cannot wait to try!

Interesting. Before you defined the rocks, I saw reflections in a pond. I love these spontaneous paintings! Thank you.

So pretty!!

I usually paint acrylic dabble watercolor and I want to paint more abstract this is the perfect way to do that. Thanks enjoying this immensely.
I love this style. I’ve spent so long doing portraits that I really enjoyed doing my first one. Thanks so much.
Such an inspiration. Can't stop trying these techniques! Thank you so much, Steve.
You’re such a good teacher! 😮 I’m now very inspired to make a spontaneous watercolor. I had almost given up painting. But you made me take it up again. Thank you! ❤😊
I can’t wait to give this a go. You have ignited my imagination.
thanks for doing these! I've admired your work for a long time.
Thank you for this superb demonstration, your commentary added so much. It was so inspiring , I can’t wait to get back into my studio
That was spectacular! Thank you so much!
oooohhhh my Goodness me!!! I'm so glad I've stumbled across your tutorials, I'm so looking forward to trying this type of watercolour, I absolutely love this style.
Thank you. I personally would cut off the bottom drips, beyond the rocks.

I love that you did some rocks in this one, that’s something I fine more challenging in my attempts. Great video.
An amazing idea. I will definitely give it a try. I bet it is harder that it looks.
❤😍❤

The roundish green area, looks like an Emu running away from the forest. Lol. This is so fascinating to me. Thanks Steve!!!

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I have just found you and have really enjoyed how it all evolves. I’m going to give it a go
I think my eyes are getting a bit better seeing this negative spaces….at least while I am watching you. I need to go test myself 😊
Love this series. These types of Landscapes I enjoy doing the most. By the way, I love your water pots. Are they an available to purchase or one of a kind? The ridge rims would be useful it seems for wiping the brush.
And I just love landscape vignettes ... now at least have an idea WHERE TO START ... thank you
Is spraying the paper with water, first, considered wet on dry?
I think I see two vases of florals, side by side….only the outline of the vases need to be outlined.😊 The lower lines look like stems.
Love this loose painting ...can,t stand detailed , hard ridge paintings...
I don't understand how this is wet on dry if you are spraying your paper and then putting the wet paint into the water on the page? Isn't that wet on wet?
Fabulous!
