Takes you back into time? Great Gig in the Sky. ;) Nice review. I liked your reviews of the Roland Street EX and the Jensen speaker replacement. Cheers!
I tried a bunch of digital pianos last week for a few good hours at a local store, playing various Roland and Yamaha digital pianos up to 1500eur. I completely neglected Korg, but I tried the G1 and immediately fell in love. The action to me felt so much closer to what I am used to having an upright at home, it was really the only one I actually liked and wanted to continue playing.
Korg is on top of the game... Kronos by far the best workstation out there.... Pa4x by far the best arranger out there.... SV1, the only stage piano that comes close to giving you the direct controll of a Nord stage(if they combine it with a kingkorg and name it SV2, they have a true competitor to the nord stage). ..... Also Korg has the best sounding ipad apps, (gadgets and modules) ... Now lets hope they will someday finally release that high end stagepiano ensemble(arranger) workstation... Maybe call it WASP.. (Workstation arranger stage piano)
Great post Chuck as usual, your review of the Kronos was a had a big influence on why I bought my Kronos X. Best purchase I ever made. As you said Korg is an awesome company. Thanks again!!
Yes I resolved that issue of low output volume on the Nord, turned out to be a bad cable. I have had the Kronos since 2012. The Kronos still amazes me to this day. Be well my friend.
I use Korg MicroKey mini controllers and they are terrific. Good balance of quick key action and synth weighted. Wish Korg would package that in a full sized key version for a little more money
hello pianoman chuk... you have the best review of keyboards... and also you made me buy this korg kronos2 platinum.... thankyou for your time making review.. now im using korg kronos....
Hello pianoman chuk. It would be great if you make a masterclass in how to mix the keyboard effecs and reverb also how to layer sound for solo and live performance..... this is a simple request from your fans in the youtube......
The Tube in the SV-1 isn’t just for show. It’s a low wattage power-amp with a dummy speaker circuit and feedback. Of course, it’s mono, because there is only one tube, and unfortunately the stereo tremolo, which is before the the amp stage turns to mono when you use the tube drive.
KORGMan Chuck ;-} Yeah, yeah, yeah...KORG-addiction, as I usually call that. I know exc. what you mean: it's the overall sound, the overall feeling, strong intuitive play...deep and atmospheric warmth....through the decades, every KORG seems to have built in these secret ingredients: always seems that one sound rolls out to an endless new one and therefore you could easily state, KORG gives you a keyboard with limitless (timeless) possibilities, don't ya think? Thanks!
PianoManChuck, if you are not already, you should join the Kronos Enthusiast Workshops on FB. Lots of good stuff. Someone shared a 6+ Gig Steinway D patch for free. Can't wait to try it!! :-)
Was sitting there thinking I wonder what Chuck thinks about the SV1 and then like magic you brought it up! I've always wanted one, but every time I'm about to pull the trigger, reports about keybed problems scare me away (which was incidentally also a problem for your Kronos). I remember playing the Kronos in a music shop not too long ago, and being less than impressed with the action. Wish it had a feel closer to the studiologic numa concert. Have you spent any time with that board? Saw the nice job you did with the sl88. An official review of the sv1 would also be cool. And while we're making wishlists, have you reviewed the Cp4?Take care!~Mike
hey chuck, what was your impression of sv1's action? I have been trying to get my hands on one but apparently they are a rare beast. Aesthetically I'm in love but am more concerned about feel.
I just got some external piano samples from Synthcloud for my Kronos 2 I’d like to know is it possible by mistake to write over the internal build in piano samples which I’m afraid of losing.
I've always preferred Korg over Roland and Yamaha for the user interface experience. I've owned a lot of Korg and Roland gear over the years but Korg was always easier to use. I must say that both Roland and Yamaha beat Korg when it comes to certain acoustic guitar sounds, particularly the Motif ES/XS/XF.
Korg kronos is great with one major flaw. All the pianos are BAD in 2017, all other brands have way better pianos...the metal feeling in the middle part of piano is just awfuly bad. So if you look away and use pianos form other sources like nord, roland, kurzweil even casio, kawai you are happy with korg. ;)
The kronos would be a good or bad choice depends on your playing and ears😀. Also i agree with you if you are only looking for a piano feel or piano sound, alot of brands that are cheaper are better.. but people/consumers don’t understand is, a Kronos is a WORKSTATION... its not a digital piano.. the digital piano part is only a bonus.. the workstation part is the serious part about this keyboard..
But you can always expand the Kronos with new sounds. So if you are not happy with the piano sound find some on the internet and upload it. I have build a number of Roland MS20 piano sounds from wav files for my Kronos.
Really enjoying these experience videos Chuck!!

Great review. FInally one that is definitive and to the point and blows all other reviews out of the water ; - ]
When you started playing pink floyd shivers went down my spine literally 😫

I'm the first kid on the block to have a Kronos 2, but it's a tiny block.
Great post Chuck as usual, your review of the Kronos was a had a big influence on why I bought my Kronos X. Best purchase I ever made. As you said Korg is an awesome company. Thanks again!!
Thanks, Tim! Glad to hear about your getting the Kronos! Do you still have the Nord as well?
Yes I resolved that issue of low output volume on the Nord, turned out to be a bad cable. I have had the Kronos since 2012. The Kronos still amazes me to this day. Be well my friend.
Amazing what a bad cable can do. I've had the Kronos a year longer than you have, and I too, am still very, very amazed by it!!
I use Korg MicroKey mini controllers and they are terrific. Good balance of quick key action and synth weighted. Wish Korg would package that in a full sized key version for a little more money

Nailed it!
Thanks man! And I nailed the 100th thumbs up for this upload, too! ;-} Thx for your friendly uploads!

The Kronos' built-in "German D" piano IS a Steinway D, and is a multi-gigabyte sample with 12-layer velocity switching.
Thanks for the info! I will compare the two.
wild399 I’d love to get that Steinway sample do I just look up Korg Enthusiast Workshops on facebook
Have you reviewed the Korg Grandstage? Have you played it? Are you planning a review? I am comparing the Grandstage to the Electro 73HP

I have a KORG MicroSTATION and it rocks!
I pressed 'like', the moment you finished playing! Am curious to hear the full piece or at least know its name
If you're referring to the song I played at the beginning, its Pink Floyd's "Great Gig In The Sky" off of their "Dark Side Of The Moon" album.
I thought everyone knew that song
I've had my Kurweil K synths for 15 years.
PianoManChuck, do you know anything about the Korg B1? I've seen a few of them on the internet.
Saludos PianomanChuck!! have you tried the Korg M50? Does the M50 has the RH3 Keybed??
PianoManChuck, and opinion on the Korg Krome vs the Korg Kross ? Thank you.
Mike Rutigliano Krome all day.
hey chuck, what was your impression of sv1's action? I have been trying to get my hands on one but apparently they are a rare beast. Aesthetically I'm in love but am more concerned about feel.
Should be very similar to keybed on the Korg Kronos. Same action although the Kronos may be using a slightly newer version.
howmuch is the weighted keys of kronos differs from keys of digital piano?
great review. thanks.
Thanks, Chuck.

Please post Kronos questions in the Kronos forum at www.korgforums.com

Hi can anyone give me a review on the korg c1 air digital piano?
The dark side of Chuck :)
Yes, Korg sound are better. But i cant play it because the dam tangent. All to heavy ,make my finger caput. 🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰

Have been looking at the Korg B1. Is this one of the BAD ones for 2017? Thanks.
I believe the one major flaw in this situation that's bad really really BAD is your ears pal...
