Peter Allen Greenbaum, such a humble and modest man. He shunned fame, money, notoriety, and anyone calling him great or a genius. Peter considered himself just a guitarist, like many other guitarists, who wrote a few songs, and strived to be a better guitarist. Yes, he had a few top ten hits, but he would never consider that anything very important. But Peter, did you know that we all loved you and what you created? We the people loved you. We do now, and always will. RIP sweet man.

@RG-mt2yr Yes Peter was lost for a time. He suffered psychosis and became a down and out disheveled mess in London, until he was rescued. But make no mistake......Peter Green was the greatest blues guitarist that Britain has ever produced. Fact. To see that watch: Oh Well, Albatross, Man of The World, Black Magic Woman, The Green Manalishi etc etc. They are all on You Tube. In later life Peter still played, but only showed a little of his former skill. Electric shock therapy, psychosis medication, and acid itself had affected him. Peter was so humble, had no ego at all, and was upset by those calling him a genius, or those pouring admiration on him. He had absolutely no ambition for greatness or wealth. All he claimed to be was a guitarist trying to become a better guitarist. He had nothing to prove. He had already done that before he left Fleetwood Mac. RIP Sweet man.

Really amazing that he isn't better known. Pretty rare to find someone who rejects wealth and fame. I really have to admire him. I've always loved the song oh well. Didn't know it was him.

Peter Allen Greenbaum (29 October 1946 - 25 July 2020),[1][2] known professionally as Peter Green, was an English blues rock singer-songwriter and guitarist.[3] As the founder of Fleetwood Mac, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. Green's songs, such as "Albatross", "Black Magic Woman", "Oh Well", "The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown)" and "Man of the World", appeared on singles charts, and several have been adapted by a variety of musicians

You are very loved, good sir.
The disdain for fame and fortune is what God wants from us. You don't realize that youve inspired more than just guitar players.
I rest assured knowing that a special place was prepared for you. Youve earned it and you deserve it. This world is only a short stop in the journey. Life is forever.
    Thank you Peter.

He seems completely with it here and I totally get what he’s saying. A big part of being a musician is drawing inspiration and learning from the people that you admire, but it’s hard to be original. Around 1:14 on “Oh Well”, after the second bottle tap, is one of the heaviest drops in Rock n Roll🤘. What a legend.

Because an art form can be ruined by fame and fortune. Music takes hours of practice. Hours of discipline. Drugs, sexual promiscuity and egotistical attitudes have nothing to do with a person's ability to be good at music. Those are all outside forces that shouldn't be part of music or a musician's life. They are nothing but a distraction from your creativity.

Peter is speaking a Cockney accent from the London East End. The old fashioned way. He changed it to 'common' English on stage.

It's hare to follow what he is saying but no problem when he sings and played his that guitar so brilliantly. Fantastic music 🎶 .Brave of him to give the interview considering he has had to cope with mental illness . Thanks Peter for the great music .

Yes he DID become ill after taking too many acid trips.
Although his behaviour and view of the world was odd when he was "crazy from acid damage" he was still a functioning person, well enough to make his own way through life and to fill in for a handful of gigs with his ex-band Fleetwood Mac when their new guitarist was ill.
After an incident concerning possession of a firearm he voluntarily went into a mental hospital and against his wishes was subjected to electro-shock therapy multiple times and kept constantly on powerful drugs for years.
He was brought out of the asylum by a writer who was visiting him there to gather material for a book and who realised that when he interviewed Peter in the morning he seemed to be clear headed and functioning very well, but when he saw him in the afternoon, after he had taken his meds he was a confused, useless mess.
So someone finally asked the vital question "Is this treatment actually doing him any good?" and a group of long-time friends got him out.
The bumbling etc that you see now is much more the result of the "treatment" than of the orignal illness.
