- Inside look as Peter Green talks through his extensive guitar collection at his storage cage in London. Rare and vintage guitars used by the legendary Peter Green throughout his career.
The man had such a hard and difficult life. I am sure Peter is in a better place now. Peter, you and Danny were phenomenal.
He sure did have it hard he was rich famous, and adored by millions he chose to take the drugs that destroyed him...hmmnnnn...
@@markjohnson9485Peter was born one 18 months before me, one street away. Bethnal Green was a very poor area. We were both lucky to escape. If you had lived there you might understand. You are a moron.
He was alright till he got his drink spiked in Germany which completely blew his mind
RIP Peter Green (1946-2020) the greatest british blues guitarist of them all
One of them for sure...
Agreed. Always underrated and understated. And not just compared to other brits. He was simply awesome, by any standard. RIP Peter Green.
Greatest white blues performer in my opinion, his vocals were way ahead of the rest...
R.I.P Peter...
Thanks for all the great music..
He was one of the greatest that's for sure.
@Jackie Hart Green was god long before Eric
Riff In Peace Mr.Greenbaum
God bless his soul.
He lived with schizophrenia, as I do, and he came back from isolation to recapture his gift, and he made his legions of fans happy.
Love to you in Heaven Peter.
Peter described his life in the 1970s as a mouse had a better time than him.
I am glad people like peter and brian wilson found a way to cope and create again.
I hope you are coping with this disorder
GREATEST.
I’m not sure I knew he had schizophrenia. If I did I’d forgotten. I knew it was a very difficult time. FleetwoodMac is because he was. 🙏
Rejected wealth??? Sure, it doesn't look like he rejected wealth! His guitars are worth more than most houses!!
It’s nice to know he enjoyed his guitars in the late stages of his life.
For me Peter is one of the top 5 guitarists of ALL time
top 5 anything is amazing, however u rate him, Peter Green will always be remembered in the same breath as all the greats.
Alan George- Absolutely... Jimmy Page and Peter Green are my two favorites.
joey - makes sense, their blues style was similar.
t a- It was more like the two complimented each other. Jimmy is an aggressive player, while Peter (who can also play aggressively) is more eccentric and laid back.
yes sir. Peace
Such sad news to hear of his passing today :(
For me,.....this guys Tone,....lead writing,...and just his musical presence in general was awe-inspiring for me. Peter and Paul Kosoff were huge inspirations while developing my own style. I feel both guys are extremely underrated and overlooked in many respects to all the "guitar hero legends" lore. R.I.P. Peter and Paul.
I cannot help it, but for me the most special combination between the guitarists
was Peter Green and Danny Kirwan - That is what I always have heard when they played together.
Maybe more people heard this.
I did ...
Danny Kirwan was the biggest tragedy. Pete came back but Danny never did
My opinion also. I loved the way they played together.
bizarre,, i bought a guitar on the afternoon before his passing.. i was listening to his solo album when driving back and from to the shop.. got a Gibson les paul cs 59 lemon colored. felt greatly inspired by his beautiful work. So sad. my condolences to his family and the world.
I sure hope he is still doing well. This guy is the best blues player I have ever heard, from his Mayall days ... just incredible stuff, and that's coming from a player of 57 years ... His "Looking Back" lead break is one of the best solos EVER recorded.
Peter Green and Paul Kossoff had many jams together. I’d do anything to have heard those jams
If you ever come across a Green/Kossoff jam, please please let me know!!!
Poet, true bluesman, inspiration to great making of musicians...AND humble as they come. RIP PG
I discovered Peter Green's music late, after hearing Page, Clapton, Townsend and Santana for years. Once I heard him, not to put down all the mentioned artists (who are all incredible), I realize where they got much of their inspiration. And even as far as Fleetwood Mac goes, for the longest time, I didn't pay attention to them because I had only heard post-Green stuff. I also recently discovered JJ Cale, I'm ashamed to say. And while I still respect Mr. Clapton, I now just consider him a very good guitarist who played other people's music. So I tip my hat to the understated musical geniuses of this world, may they all rest in peace. I'd like to think that Peter and JJ may be chilling up in the clouds somewhere, sharing a beer, and jamming together. RIP Peter Green.
Johnny are playing with Green ?
THE Master has passed. RIP
So touched to watch this man..
In my ignorance only thought of albatross but heard him sing and play
“Love that burns” and was immediately
Converted...tone is impeccable
And ...his voice ..heartbreakingly
Beautiful
Xx
One of the best guitarists to ever grace the earth, great to see you back fella, thank you for the music.
It's amazing how clear his is on the details of where he bought each instrument...I can't remember what I done or what I did with about 20 some guitars I've had in my life of 65years, ...blessed mind Peter had indeed! RIP
I cant even name the models of some of mine i have to google it lmao
Always makes me feel sad when you see your hero’s getting older, the young only see an old man looking at guitars, not the rock god who lies within 🍃
I had an opportunity to play that Les Paul. It was on display at The Philadelphia Guitar Show maybe 10 years back. I caught the guy who had it at a very slow time during the show and he was kind enough to sit me down and carefully place that guitar in my hands. I played it for about 10 minutes unplugged..truly awesome experience.
Thanks for all the great songs Peter Greenbaum, RIP
Peter Green got his marbles back into his head going on 20 years now. A hard road. Battled schizophrenia all through the 70's & 80s. But he's back on planet earth now. And he knows it. Maybe not quite got it together 100% and he prolly never will. But he's back with us.
"prolly" doesn't even count as English slang mate😉
I'm pretty sure he never got his marbles back.
Thank god Santana covered Black Magic Woman which became a smash hit allowing Green to retire in financial security with royalties. What happened to him in Germany was CRIMINAL
@68’ Rumble Bee amen
greatest blues guitar player RIP PG
I find him deeply lovable and humane - and sublime guitar player on top of that.
So good to see Peter again and still in love with music and guitars. His playing was and is such a total antidote to the sterile thrash and shred which so many young players seem to think is the be-all and end-all of playing guitar and making music. Long may he live and continue to enjoy life.
Great video to watch , his passion for all his guitars especially as he has now left us. 💙
God bless peter sleep well
Fantastic off the cuff interview here and very intriguing insight. As each case opens and is accompanied by Peters words a whole world of nostalgia hits you. I find the bit where he is asked about whether there are any Les Pauls especially interesting. The guitar had a profound effect on Peter. It possibly reminded him of what could have been etc. Can you imagine opening one of those cases and finding a Les Paul. It’d be like finding El Dorado.
Wonderful Peter
What a man. We miss him..
I'm glad Pete is getting on,,,,,,and is doing well,, I love the old Mac,,,
Up there with the legendary blues and rock guitar god Irishman Rory Gallagher
You need to learn respect! Mr green is a legend !
Master of tone and feel and such a great guitar collection , lost his way in the 1960 s hope he's ok now thanks for the music Peter
Loved him, love the way all his guitars are tuned to play oh well , god bless you peter green
True legend sad loss you will always be remembered rip pete 🙏
Peter was very lucid with great recall on the history of these guitars. Don't know what year it was but if this was his state of mind until he passed.....he was ALRIGHT !
In his later years he would randomly phone up to ask for a specific guitar which would be on his mind, and we'd go up and dig it out for him and let him know it was there. It was pretty surreal hearing the legend on the other end of the phone. Sometimes we would send them out to him but other times nothing would come of it.
Such a lovely guy too.
nice gear, I came to appreciate Pete this am, that song albatross , really did the job for me, beautiful song, no doubt played on one of these guitars, song really relaxed me, was all wound up, that's the magic of music, gets me felling better
Dave Green not played on one of these guitars unfortunately
I think he said he played a strat on albatross mostly
..and ovrrdubbed bass lines as well
2:45-3:20 He really seems to love that seaweed Tanglewood Memphis! It might be the cheapest axe of his entire collection and he pampers it as if it were his baby.
If you’re Peter Green you wouldn’t really need much to sound good.
@@lukekelly4360 Btw, Tanglewood is also making all solid wood acoustics these days that are NOT cheap. I saw a solid mahogany back and sides guitar with a solid spruce of cedar top with cutaway and LR Baggs electronics from them for about €1350.-
So, it's not only about selling €200.- oriental boxes anymore. They're aiming at more market segments now. I was surprised to see that a Tanglewood was the most expensive brand new acoustic guitar in the shop. You should check their website. There are really interesting developments going on at Tanglewood's.
For me it's too late. I'm a Blueridge guy, and I have a Maton with cutaway and a AP-5 pre-amp from 1999 that beats them all. It's the EM-325C.

@@gingerbeer914 I’m only saying what I said because that’s no high end tanglewood and to prove a point it’s not about the guitar it’s about the player.
Snowy White - played with Peter - he was a great lead guitarist - he really rocked on the Pink Ffloyd tours
You could tell he was very proud of these guitars and it made him happy reliving the fun times of his life. Rest In Peace Mr. Green.✡️
There's actually three guitarists that I feel so sad for.... Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, and Syd Barrett.
Not only a blues player. The best guitarist in every style. His musical legacy is huge. Groundbreaking. Even albums with him playing with Fleetwood Mac were held back and unreleased, kept under lock and key for 15 - 20 years, until finally being released. Such a shameful act.
Amazing composer, singer, the best guitar player of the world, RIP my pretty Peter ❤
@@Rebecca-pr4zp, he was so magnificent, so gorgeous 👑💚
@@elowyn9664 He was perfect ❤
@@Rebecca-pr4zp, he was indeed! ♥️♥️♥️
One of the greatest Bluesmen that ever strapped on a guitar.
LEGEND! R.I.P mr Green. :(
Some flew too close to the sun and fried but one came back ....tanned and ready. Tunes
Have a finally nice trip, Peter.
I like watchin’ people with passion talkin’ ‘bout their shit. Enjoyed this
Lovely man
The epitome of a Rock and Roll survivor. Guitars are cool, too.
Peter and I shared the same affliction: collecting whether you need it or not. Ah, a huge vault of guitars is just heaven to me.
Einer der besten blues Gitarristen all time. Rest in peace..Peter 🎸
Iconic Peter Green
i have the same tanglewood in black and creme, frigging brilliant guitar, part exed it for an epiphone custom and never regretted it.
RIP Peter, we'll miss you hard
he could do more with a lo budget plank than half the diddlers on the planet.with all the gear and no idea. Thanks for the memories Peter..
GOOD TO SEE PETER IS OK
R.I.P brother.❤
RIP Peter!
Now when the day goes to sleep and the full moon looks
And the night is so black that the darkness Cooks
I think he was trying to say (toward the end) that it is easier to tone control one pickup and get it set so that you can just play with a sound that you know is right for your ears. Just a guess ...
My first professional guitar was a cherry '58 LesPaul junior, the guy I bought it from said it was Peter's but they all said that in the '60s
🤣👍🇬🇧rip Peter
The real bluesman. Buys guitars because he likes them, rather than buying because of the brand
he has always been a tone man , he once said the best guitar he ever had was a framus Nashville , i happen to own one from 1974 (they dont make them anymore ) and its tone is amazing , its selection of tones is out of this world its made better then most guitars and the pitch pine is durable beyond belief !! if they made new versions BUT to the exact same spec they would be a big seller (framus like most seem to use stock pickups these days rather then the specials they had designed and made for the Nashville ) , it was i believe called the Nashville as it was designed by chet Atkins and the pickups were his spec , gretsch made the super axe which is very similar at around the same time , im guessing they contracted chet to design it and it happens to be almost the same guitar
There are guitars and there are guitars they are not all made equal believe me...
even gives love to Tanglewood :D he's a naive and generous soul
Just like Rory Gallagher was with his guitar collection ❤
I just saw Mark Knopfler on TV for the first time since the 1980s and he looks like Greeny does here!
Always seems a shame with these guitar collections, they probably never get played from one year to the next!
Really interesting ...from the master himself
just the two of them . they should make a vid a show us the guitars .
One guitar to rule them all... and its the one missing!
He had such a great flow of hair when young!
Enormous stress and mental breakdowns made him bald at an early age IMO. Also the other schizophrenic icon Syd Barrett was bald before 30 years of age.
Yeah man we all did! 🤣
@Old Crow ?
Jewel Eyed Judy, at 3:57 it sounded a bit like the interviewer guy played a few chords from that song.
True artist explorer . Not scared to take a risk . If you want fruit you have to go out on a limb . RIP Peter . I nearly knew you .
Beautifully put: artist explorer. He sure was.
He is a old man now but the fact he is still here and playing again and collecting guitars he actually held his old gold top les Paul after Gary Moore passed away and the new owner wanted peter to see it
A left handed Strat that Peter Green doesn't remember much about? I have heard that Jimi once said that Peter Green was the only guitarist in England that made him feel unnerved.
The most essential one is missing.
The Greeny ?... He hated it... never wanted it back....
it was just a guitar dude peter was done with it a long time ago !!!!
and he had more les pauls not only the 59burst and he still owns a les paul btw!!!
These days its been used to play master of puppets and enter sandman...
김기태 That's the real tragedy.
He doesn't want that Lester back. GREENIE likes newer axes these days.
peter green on form was the best ever. music legend
He obviously went way over the top with buying guitars.
But if I had the money, I would probably do the same.
God bless Peter Green
😪 legend
Amazing being from how talks
I'd love to see him play a Vintage V100 Lemondrop, since it's based on his old Les Paul
I’d love one of them
does anybody know what kind of guitar this is? 4:13
Did he ever really come back down! ..rip peter genius
The only 1 to give me the cold sweats - BB King
Need a better camera and should focus more on his guitar. He is a legend.
dont even point
Nigel Tufnel lol
Wish he had demonstrated them
I owned that Ibanez iceman prior to Mr. Greenbaum (1994-99)
Now, that's interesting information. Do you recall what the serial # was?
I'm pretty sure that there's going to be an auction that's comparable to the Richard Gere and Peter Gilmore guitar auctions.
Maybe you can buy it back at 20x the price you got for it in 1999.
This is the only Iceman I would like to own. Peter was one of my three electric guitar heroes: Hank B., Carlos and Peter.
Normally I don't care for guitars with horns that look like stiff dicks.
WOW got em all locked in a cage
Really odd choices for someone whos revered for the classic les paul / british combo tone
Is this at the Sunday school bermondsey
Muito bom o Maradona da guitarra
He had no Idea the Ibanez was Paul Stanley From Kiss"s signature guitar,Id like to have heard his thoughts about that...
Not that one, that was actually Steve Miller's signature model. You can tell from the weird single pickup. I think that model is more rare than the natural korina one, and even with that rash on the back I've never seen one in that good of condition with what appears to be the original case. A collector's item for sure, made even more so by having belonged to Mr. Green.
I don’t understand, I read he was homeless for a while after Fleetwood Mac, how did he manage to keep all these? Or were all these guitars bought later?
R I P !
he didnt seem to have ANY guitar snobbery whatsoever.... you often find that in a lot of gifted artists... they have something you cannot buy or learn...
Just got to locate this building and I'm in...I'm joking...but not at the same time...if I found them Peter would understand and be cool with it...I'd only take one and I'd pray...so,don't be judging me.
Why is all this stuff in a cage? Am I missing something here?
Wild he let the Greeny Lp go for 150 pounds.
Same resonator as Mark Knophler
