- BEFORE WE GET 1 MILLION HATE COMMENTS - This is just our opinion, it wasn't our favorite comeback of Red Velvet, but that doesn't take away from the fact they have an amazing discography and are a very talented group.... but the fact is we're not going to like every song the group puts out. That being said visually they all looked amazing and we are looking forward to their next comeback.

Hey Guys, thank you for talking respectively about our girls. Part of the reason I love RV is their talent for being diverse, being able to pull off many concepts and musical styles..so it makes sense that a fan will not like every song they produce. I like their r&b side more, but they always look so happy performing their red style...it makes me happy to see them having fun. Power Up is a fun song and interesting production, it's definitely not boring.
I get concerned when fans say things like, "Yeri can't dance", "Jennie is lazy", or "Wendy is a racist" because it spreads like wildfire. Artists are humans, they aren't perfect, they make mistakes, they have bad days, they read comments....most of all, they sacrifice their personal lives to entertain us. Everywhere they go, there are cameras on them 24/7.
When they do make mistakes, or have a bad day, I think they deserve to be forgiven and feel supported, because I don't want to live in a world where they go away because of what a "fan" said.
You guys did a good job of that here, pointing out how you feel while remaining supportive, I hope more fans can learn to be more understanding.
Yeri was always supposed to be part of Red Velvet along with the other girls that appeared in the Happiness MV. In my opinion she brings more personality to the group especially on variety shows since Joy is the only other outgoing member. They debuted Red Velvet early to distract everyone from all the controversial stuff happening at the time. The other girls probably would have been added like Yeri was, but she got so much hate and still does just for existing that SM left them as 5. I feel like for Yeri her poor performance on stage sometimes is do to her lack of confidence because the people sending her all the hate are ot4 Red Velvet fans. I also think they perform better when they're allowed to sing live because at their concerts all the members are in it to win it. Wendy's really a disappointment though 😒 I can't even make excuses for her because she knew what she was doing.
Yeah, in some live stages Yeri gives 110%, and others she looks like she wants to go home. I wish SM would let them sing live though because they sound really good live. As for Wendy, I don't think she's racist. On variety shows she tries too hard to be funny, and she did that in an attempt to be funny. She failed. It was really disrespectful to both black and white people the way she used stereotypes to imitate them in order to be "entertaining".
@@justme2398 Honestly I started stanning Red Velvet because I saw them on a variety show and thought Yeri and Joy were hilarious. I'm still a ReVeluv, but Wendy turned A LOT of people off of Red Velvet. What makes me mad though is she's the main vocal so I can't even ignore her 😂
@@tays1592 SAME. Wendy was my bias but now it's Joy. As a dancer it annoys me that people always come for Yeri, but the other members lazy dances sometimes and people don't come for them. They seem to really enjoy performing RBB so lets hope they keep it up.
Sooo we edited some of our parts - but i actually DID come for Irene because most of the time she has no facial expression while dancing and sometimes puts in minimal effort, same with yeri and she was really off sync this comeback. I get they're tired but its also like so many people would kill to be in their place you know? They are talented and have quality music so i wish their lives would match that!

With wendy (as a black women myself) i do not feel like she was being racist, just stereotypical and a bit insensitive. In fact she did it twice and shes from Canada, shes been around other races, so she should know not to do that but i don't think she was being racist at all, sorry i just wanted to get that off my chest. Also i do agree that this was not my favorite comeback from red velvet, i felt like they could've done better with this one, its not even that bad, ill still bop to it but its just not my favorite song. 😐❤

My thing is because she grew up in Canada she KNOWS what she's doing is a stereotype and wrong and the fact that she did it twice.... do you really think all black people sound like that? How do you view black people? It just begs the question especially because the first time round people told her it was wrong and they were offended yet she did it again. At the end of the day this isn't gonna stop us from listening or enjoying red velvet's music, but it is a turn off!

Hey girls 💗💗 what I love the most about your channel is how honest you are & it’s always a space for us too to express our opinions - I’ve been a fan of Red velvet since debut and honestly I never thought much of Yeri joining them because I love her personality and i was like it’s okay she’ll catch up they are still rookies but at this point I totally agree with Sammy’s point yet at the same time Yeri as the maknae AND as the last member to join she’s been getting unnecessarily out of proportion hate for literally everything I’ve never seen a member being hated so much so we never know what’s going on with her or her mental health but I genuinely hope she gets better and catches up with the group because she’s such a bright girl. Coming to the others let’s be honest every reveluv should admit that Seulgi is the one member who excels at literally EVERYTHING !! Performance? Dance? Singing? Variety? Personality? Supporting the members?? Literally everything. Her energy on stage in every performance is always 10000000% which makes her standout in every aspect AND make us notice the lack of energy from the other members. Irene everyone knows she’s an ice queen but i swear her performance and overall dancing remains better in comparison to Joy and Yeri’s continues lack of energy on stage - this is not me hating on any of them in any way but it’s very noticeable especially with how big they got now. Wendy is a whole different case, people have every right to feel how they feel about her but I totally get you on How because there is so much going on it gets harder to support them as a unit and not be tooo biased towards certain members. I just want them to do well they gave some of the best music and I hope one day they reach their full capacity as a group

I love the song also a reveluv and this song didn’t pop off here in the west (really wasn’t expecting too) but it did Korea. The live stages tbh I don’t know what was going on if they didn’t like the choreo or they were tired because RV has been non stop promoting/performing since Red Flavor 2017 idk but it was slacking. The whole Yeri situation I think she was always meant to be in the group but because of SM controversies the sped up RV debut and the group got a lot of hate for it. Wendy too many words ain’t leavin it but I hold no ill feeling but that’s me and understand the feelings toward her. All and all RV is my ult gg of the 3rd gen listen to RBB for good health.

yknow i really agree with you on the wendy thing and it sucks that she even did it twice even tho she should know better but it kinda rubs me the wrong way when everyone n their mom has this much to say about a relatively minor incident while other groups are pulling major problematic shit but nobody bats an eye, like that doesnt mean u cant criticize the smaller issues but i didnt see this much discourse when ikon were being openly homophobic or exo being colorist n racist multiple times (colorist comments about kai since debut + chen and the kunta kinte thing) because overall its just boygroup privilege if we're being real on this one. like, momolands nancy got shit for not wanting to date a fellow member which was apparently homophobic (im gay and.. no its not) while ikon can be out there and pull a "im gay" prank on b.i's mom n then laugh when shes lashing out. like yeah gay people being rejected (or even thrown out/abused/killed etc) for being gay is sooo funny, prank gone wrong lmao!

I think everything you're saying is valid - that being said if you follow us on our personal social media you'll see we say a lot on there that we dont in our youtube videos cuz we aint trying to get death threats. This is Sammy - personally for me I spoke on Exo being colorist to Tao and Kai all the time and making fun of their dark skin, and Chen with the horrible kunta kinte incident... however Exo aint my favorite group - they are talented have bops and visuals, but i really dont fuck with Chen anymore and Chanyeol is questionable to me because of everything he's done in the past... another one is Zico, we barely ever react to him because even though he's talented the level of cultural appropriation and his lyrics - i got black soul? what does that even mean... so basically what I'm trying to say is nearly every group has done problematic shit because theyre human they're gonna make mistakes and SOMETIMES they don't know any better, shit if i was a celeb im sure i'd do something problematic accidentally - my issue is when this behavior is repeated. It means you know its wrong cuz there was backlash and people told you and you literally JUST DONT CARE. Also Wendy was raised in Canada, so the whole she doesn't know/ignorance excuse can't apply to her. I let it go after the first time, but when she did it again i was like... soooooooooo you really dont care sis? thank you for responding i really appreciate that!! i already suspected that you guys didnt mention either the ikon or exo thing on youtube because the backlash on here would be way worse considering boygroups got more obsessive fans behind their backs that will defend anything they do, which is also part of my problem if you get what im saying. for example if a bts member were to suddenly do something problematic, many armys would defend it 1. because theyre armys AND 2. because other armys would literally kick them out of the fandom for criticizing the "untouchable" boygroup. but for girlgroups everyone can just jump on the hate bandwagon and its totally fine? which is kinda fucked up imo but yeah im glad you recognized the exo issue cuz that shows that you dont blindly defend boygroups!!
lol no worries, but i do agree it does suck thats part of the kpop culture. We have said things in the past about boy groups and have been blasted and have ended up reediting the video etc., its tough. However, we're going to try to be as fair as possible in the future going forward bcuz you're right, we can't blast one group and say nothing about the other. :) Also with iKON - i'm not familiar enough with the situation to discuss it, like i heard something about it but dont really know which is why i cant address it. Anyway we always appreciate feedback that is educational and not hateful, so going forward we will put effort to be fair and share our opinions about all groups. Actually With the Songs i give SM all the fault because they got make Red Velvet bigger i think they don't want to or something. About Wendy she is was Actually my Bias but know it's like okay she has a beautiful voice and is a Part of this Group, i didn't know that it is her second time saying something like that until you guys said it as a Black girl i was like WTF. i agree with you guys this song was definitely not my fav but i dont love them any less bc of it especially bc ik that red velvet doesnt really have the same musical freedom some other SM artists have (even though that is still pretty little)

but as far as Yeri goes i mostly just feel bad for her because like you guys said SM debuted Red Velvet early to cover up their other scandals which was a really shitty thing to do bc they werent prepared and basically set them up to fail. Yeri was always supposed to be part of the group but bc they forced RV to debut early she didnt debut with them (I think most likely due to the fact that she was still a part of SM Rookies along with the NCT members and such and that she most likely was not ready to debut). I also believe that SM originally planned to add other SM Rookies girls to the group but poor Yeri (who is only a '99 liner btw) got SO MUCH hate after joining that I think they decided to scrap that idea.
Yeri suffered a lot because of this and has even talked about it on ig lives and stuff and you can just tell that it affected her a lot, especially bc she was so young (like 16) when she first joined and to immediately get hate just for being in the group was tough. She's such a sweet girl though and I just feel like a lot of her continued struggle in the group is due to self-confidence issues (which she has also talked about). Overall, I have no problems with Yeri. Still, I respect your guys' opinions and agree with most of what you said! Respect to you guys, I always enjoy your reactions!

This song was just not it for me. Rookie grew on me. I liked red flavor. But power up was not it. Now as far as my opinion on Wendy, im on the fence about her. (I would have to tell you why in a dm or something bc it would be too long).

Red Velvet is so hit or miss for me. This song was just...not it.
Honestly if Wendy wasn’t a mess and Yeri wasn’t a lazy performer, I would be more of a Red Velvet stan. I love them as a group and no one does what they do right now (Well F(x) but SM killed that for us) but there’s just things in the way that won’t let me stan them. It’s like how I was here for Blackpink then Jennie’s lacklustre performance and stage presence happened and now I am like, throw the damn group away! It’s frustrating cause both these groups should be killing it on a consistent basis but then they disappoint 🤦🏾♀️
