    Table looks great. Planning to use your video to make one.

      Right on thank you! Mines still doing well. I think I’m on the third summer and I have a little heat damage around the inner edge that’s closest to the stove from a couple really hot fires so if I were to do it again I would maybe add a half inch to the hole for the stove for some more breathing room but other than that it’s been great and people that see it love it.

    Cool! I see your video is 3 years old now. What are your impressions 3 years later. Would you have done anything differently?

    • @HighPriority
      @HighPriority  День тому +1

      @@IvanLopez-dk1bw it’s been holding up pretty decent. Barrel is just fine I wouldn’t change anything with that, I think the holes drilled is adequate. The top I’d add maybe 1/2” or so of circumference to the inner circle, my top is a little charred and darkened from the heat there. Also I’d make the top out of pallet wood to keep the cost down as well, no need to spend money on nice looking boards that are going to get weathered and beat up.

    How is your setup doing so far? Does it have a lot more burn time on it, unscathed? I’m just curious since I just bought the Yukon and it gets HOT when you get it going for a couple hours.

      Yea it is working out really well. Everyone that has seen it seem to like the look. I did have a longer piece of wood in it that was burning and fell on the top and let’s say added some character to it but other than that it’s been great.

    Just came across this as I got a Solo Stove Bonfire myself. My local Lowe's had wooden barrels that are around 17 inches at the bottom, and 22-23 inches on top. I have a stand too, but do you believe that would fit the bonfire sized fire-pit from them?...

    • @HighPriority
      @HighPriority  2 роки тому +1

      The bonfire is 19.5” in diameter and the stand is 17” in diameter so it may be real tight if not too small. I just measured my barrel and it’s 20” at the bottom.

    Just used your video to make the same thing for my solo bonfire. Waiting for the poly to dry and will light it up in the next day or two. You been using for a while now, any issues with the heat after running for hours? I’m a little concerned but figured I’d keep a fire extinguisher on the deck with me for the first few burns! Looks so much better!

    • @HighPriority
      @HighPriority  2 роки тому +2

      Yes I used mine all last summer and no issues. I did overload it with wood and a piece fell onto the top and burned it a bit so I won’t make that mistake again. The barrel does get warm as well at the top but it has never gotten hot to the touch, just warm.

    But now you have restricted the air flow to the bottom has it made any difference

    • @HighPriority
      @HighPriority  Рік тому +1

      I was a little concerned the holes I drilled wouldn’t be enough but it’s been working well, it’s still able to draw enough air and burn clean.

    The table looks great! I just purchased the Solo Stove Bonfire and am looking for a surround. What length did you cut each of the table top boards to and what diameters did you use for the inner and outer circles? Thank you.

    • @HighPriority
      @HighPriority  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you! I cut them all at 40” and cut the outer diameter at 40” and the inner at 20”. The stove itself is 18.5 or 19” in diameter so the 20” gives some breathing room. Overall table top diameter is just whatever works for you. I debated doing 36” but I thought the 40” would look better.

    What sealer did you use?

    • @HighPriority
      @HighPriority  11 місяців тому

      I used Behr Premium semi transparent waterproofing stain and sealer made for decks and fences. Tint base on the can is no: 5077.

    Why not treated lumber or cedar?

    • @HighPriority
      @HighPriority  Рік тому +1

      Oh I thought about cedar but honestly I wanted to keep it cheap. I even thought about using pallet lumber which I think would have given a different, more rustic look and been practically free. I don’t leave it out in the rain often but it has gotten wet and is still holding up well.

      Barrel gets warm and the top will get warm as well but not hot. Much safer for kids as well.
