Decluttering, working through what I have samples of, and using up some bottles. By the end of the year I hope to be with a better focus and more curated collection. As you have referenced Hannah Louise Poston's journey, I truly believe that this exercise in restraint will give you pause in the pursuit of all the 'shiny new' offerings in future. The mindset shift and increase in vlog-style content (whilst on holiday etc) are indications of this. I am inspired and motivated by your journey, with my No-Buy year ending in Jan 2023 (only 3 on my wish-list and decluttering 20% of what I currently own). Cheers to 2023 !
I go ham buying all the perfumes that contain a certain note, such as rice, linden blossom or pistachio; I feel high and then I'm so disappointed in myself when I have them in front of me and realize I will never use them all. This mindless cycle of buying and then decluttering needs to stop. I do get satisfaction looking at my collection arranged by color on fragrantica and just shopping my stash. I enjoy photographing little vignettes with all the beautiful bottles (yet I don't post to Instagram or fragram), so maybe I will try to exercise my creativity with them more so it's not an utter waste. I will be binge watching your videos while I try to get a grip and practice self control in 2023. Thank you for these videos. Wishing you many blessings for the new year ahead! 💗

What I'm mostly excited about is getting to know my collection better and really using the perfumes that I already have and maybe even decluttering some. Right now I'm at about 60 bottles, although I used to always say I never want to own more than 50 :p So happy new year and good luck to everyone on a no-buy!

I tried to make 2022 a low-buy year, and managed to do it at certain times, but didn't solve the most important problem: that I keep buying as a coping mechanism, so I guess there is no other way 😅. Personally I haven't purchased perfumes ( bottles of 30 mls and more ) since June 2022. My rule is to start buying bottles again after having emptied 20 . During this period I allow myself to purchase only samples or travel sizes. This makes it easier to keep my promise I don't have many perfumes, not more than50 but the more I abstain from purchasing the freer I feel. It's time we enjoyed what we already have and thus fight our greediness to own even more. I'm so happy for you because it must have been hard for you to stick to your intention, since you have sooo many perfumes!!

Good job, Cherie! I did a no-buy in all of 2021, and did a low buy in 2022. It is possible! I appreciate my collection and now add to it in a very conscientious way. I usually have about 20 - 24 choices out for a 3 month period, which seems like a good amount. Hope you add again as you really consider and want the new fragrance. Happy New Year!❤️🌹
I don’t think I am going to do no-buy… but I do think I need to test perfumes sufficiently prior to purchase and cap the current value of my collection. Basically the value of my collection grew by about $1k near the end of 2022. Already did some more big purchases this year and just trying to get back to the net value from prior to the holidays (I keep a spreadsheet) 😉 I was gifted lots of vintage/used perfumes by my dad (he is a garage sale flipper as his hobby) and he bought me things worth maybe 1k total. I’ve sold about half so far and did keep a couple special ones. My big purchases have been: TF Cherry Smoke and a Byredo Grand Collection sampler set (that comes with full bottle redemption). I used to have Bal d’Afrique and haven’t tested Byredo in years.. I was curious but so far not finding one I like better than Bal d’Afrique of the 24 scents.
Tested all 24 and I also like Flowerhead and Rose Noir.. but not sure I would prefer a full bottle of those over Bal D’Afrique. I just tested Vetiver Tonka yesterday and I do definitely prefer Bal D’Afrique personally.
Fabulous video Cherie and congratulations, a real achievement for a perfume addict. My recent house move got me down to 18 bottles but I have purchased three over the Christmas break. I have recently returned from a week in Hawaii and my only perfume purchase was Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere which I love. My downsized perfume collection is perfect for my downsized living arrangements, I simply don’t have the room for a massive perfume collection anymore. I got it down to 18 bottles but am back up to 22 bottles. I will be happy to keep it at 22-25 bottles as 2023 will see me back to doing quite a bit of overseas travel and I prefer to use my money for that ✈️

Haha thanks! Yes definitely wanted to expand the skills on making videos. It’s more fun to edit things that are more dynamic than my talking mug! 😂 I’m so glad someone suggested HLP to me early in my no buy, her video’s definitely helped me to stay on track
