Hey, I have an idea, why doesn't Congress just break-up the NFL monopoly and require the NFL to operate the way every other business in the entertainment industry operates. If the Panthers want a new stadium let them pay for it themselves, stop looking for the taxpayer to subsidize their product.

    • @Mrcharles.

You don’t have to have a dome for corporate boxes or restaurants/bars. Actually the stadium not being a dome makes the boxes & bars even more appealing. Look at Lambeau Field people are gonna pay even more to be able to have an enclosed area with air con to watch the game & are more likely to go into the enclosed areas of the stadium to eat/have a beer & warm up. Except for the field & seats every part of that stadium is enclosed.

Jaguars are a major threat as well & probably will end up moving at some point in the next 5-10 years. There’s a built in apathy towards the team there plus with a large navy presence there you’re guaranteed to have a lot of fans there cheering for the away team regardless of who it is. @@RB01.10 Yes and no. You're not wrong but like everything else in life it's all relative. All the New York teams have won something, but for someone like me that remembers back to '81 with the Jets, '82 with the Knicks and '83 with the Rangers and Mets I've seen one WS with the Mets, one cup with the Rangers, two Finals losses by the Knicks and four AFC title game losses by the Jets in 160+ seasons. That's...as bad as it gets. It's not about me of course, just pointing out the only perspective I know. I wasn't around for the "glory" years of these teams in late '60s/early '70s, but it's not even a conversation to compare them to Chicago teams who have all won something more recently, including two dynastic runs with the Bulls and Blackhawks.
The best part though is the interesting dynamic that really only exists in New York with more than one team in every sport, especially so when you look across town and their fans are celebrating multiple titles in the case of the Yankees, Giants and even Devils, including a head-to-head win in the 2000 Subway Series. So yeah, there are a of sad sack franchises and cities out there, but at least when Cleveland was devoid of a single championship going back to the early '60s it was probably a good bet that everyone felt the same way at the water cooler on Monday mornings, unless of course they cherry-picked non-local teams.

I honestly dont think the league would give Tepper approval to relocate the franchise. After the controversy from the Rams relocation debacle in which the NFL had to pay over 700 million to the city of St. Louis. And David Tepper also isnt in very good standing with fellow NFL owners either, who the majority of still see Charlotte NC as a very viable hub for the NFL. In 2003 then Vikings owner Red McCombs threatened to move the team to San Antonio if he didnt get a publicly funded stadium, the federal courts placed an injunction on McCombs efforts, and the commissioner was prepared to sanction McCombs as owner. Red sold the team 2 years later to Mark and Zygi Wilf. If past history is any indication, i dont see David Tepper owning the Carolina Panthers for much longer.
