I am a backslider,and through that I caused my family great emotional stress ,I am sorry for what I did to them,but I can't seem to get rid of this addiction,feeling bad about my life isn good enough,How can I get to truly change ...Instead of suppressing all these evil desires...

Wow, I’m sorry that you are going through this. I think the key here is that you are striving to make changes when it is Jesus who will change you. The enemy wants you to continue in guilt and shame which drives you deeper into addiction. Jesus wants to heal you and transform you into something new. Remember, Jesus didn’t die, resurrect, ascend, and send the Holy Spirit in order to make bad people into good people. He did all of that to turn dead people into living people.
