I can definitely confirm this (particularly the job part) from the "other side". Before retiring I did 40 years of jobs, none of which I truly enjoyed nor was actually interested in. Not every day was "bad" by any means (although there were some...) and I tried to do a good job. My co-workers / employers were generally very good and most remain good friends to this day. But doing something for which you have no passion will absolutely kill your enjoyment of life.
