Yeah unfortunately I did let the S14 go to focus on the S13, but don’t worry, the hatch is getting this same level of restoration with equal attention to detail. With the low mileage and backstory on the hatch it’s a forever car for me and I couldn’t afford to build both the way I wanted. But I definitely plan to get another kouki one day!
Oh man, I believe they have been discontinued by Nissan so you'll probably have to go aftermarket. Here's the Nissan Part number in case that help: 72712-70F05
Yes sr20 definitely. My s14a is currently in the body shop having kouki wing fitted with racing edition skirt (euro ltd Ed.). Can’t wait. Why not use the standard manual transmission? Good luck with the build
SR20 is the only motor for this car! And I'm concerned about the factory 5 speed holding up to the power we're going to be pushing so hoping to secure a NISMO 6 speed for the car for the oem fit and increased durability.
Unfortunately both of those have been discontinued, so your best option is looking for them secondhand. I always look on Facebook marketplace and I’m a part of a bunch of S chassis and S14 Facebook groups so I pretty much watch those daily for parts
You should look at the s15 Silvia option b seats. They’re alcantara and come in 2 colors, 1 is bright orange and the other is blue/purplish. I think either one would look great in a all black kouki.
It's getting tougher and tougher these days, but it's all about patience and checking everyday. I most use FB marketplace and the various s-chassis groups on Facebook. Or if you're willing to pay top dollar, check out bring a trailer. There's been a few clean ones on there recently.
What are your power goals? Tbh if it’s around 350hp don’t waste your money on sr20, you are better off just using a ka and putting a turbo on it. Any car can be drivable you just need a good tune. I have a cd009 with a ka and it’s fine not that much mods. You just need to bang in transmission tunnel in a few spots. Also shaved down transmission on a few spots as well.
I'd love to be between 400-450WHP. And I was going back and forth between at K24 and the SR, not a turbo K24. With the CD009 I'm more worried about how low it sits, it's the lowest point on the car when in an s-chassis.
@@avengednick I've never had any problems but at end of day it's your build and up to you. Imo purchasing a sr is quite expensive when you can get a ka24 and build it/ turbo it.
I’ve driven a few LS3 powered cars and it’s a phenomenal motor and a ton of fun to drive. I’m going up piss some people off by saying this, but I just can’t get behind an American motor in a Japanese classic. It just feels wrong! Haha
I got super lucky and found this one on FB marketplace. The guy said he wasn't willing to ship so I offered him more than his asking price to ship it and sent paypal right away. There used to be a site in japan that had them but they've since been discontinued so finding one second hand is the only way.
I guess I'm going to have too look harder lol. I had one brand new in the box years ago and sold it. I regret it big time. I'm excited for your s14 build and can wait to see how it turns out.
This guy is selling an OEM kouki wing if you’re still looking: facebook.com/groups/SchassisBST/permalink/4841084005986791/?sale_post_id=4841084005986791
SR20DETs are cool for sure, especially back in the day when you could pick up a complete swap for $2k. Fast forward to 2022, SR20DETs are expensive, tough to get parts (like you said They are from Japan) any SR you get will need a complete rebuild. Best bang for you buck will be KA24DET ,especially with all the aftermarket support. Get yourself a KA24DE, install pistons, rods, bearings Etc. Add a turbo kit , ecu of your choice, 550cc injectors will probably max out around 350WHP. CD009 transmission and you got a nice build. Think about it . Also next parts for you …maybe should be oem jdm front lip and jdm rear Kouki valances 🤘🏽.. good luck
I should have specified in the video, I was debating between a Honda K24 and the SR20. I guess I'm a sucker for pain and overpriced parts though because I just pulled the trigger on an SR20... Haha. Plan is a full rebuild for it though. And I love by CD009 in the Z but they just sit so damn low in an S-chassis, probably going to go with an SR trans for OEM fit/no swap kit and pair it with a nice ACT clutch. And those parts are definitely on my list!
Transmission wise, I think if you want to go for an OEM+ build, don't go with anything that will require trans tunnel modification. I think of it as preserving the cars body as much as possible
Totally agree! At this point my plan is to use an SR transmission to avoid having to modify the transmission tunnel and not have to use an adapter kit. Just need to do some more research to see what the best option is for holding the power I'm looking to make.
@@avengednick That's great! SR's are a very good platform to work on, but I believe they cannot hold much power without having it rebuilt. So stoked on what's to come!
To be honest Nissan told me the exact same thing about my driver fender being "the very last one in the country." Seems they may be pulling one on us lol
I really want to know how much money you spent just for these OEM parts. I own a S14 Kouki too and everytime I'm looking for cool new stuff, I almost cry when I see the price-tag xD keep on going with this great project. Greetings from Germany
Parts sell out and Nissan and other manufactures regularly discontinue parts for older vehicles. You can still buy the hood and both front and rear bumpers new from OEM Part Specialties and other sellers, but like I said in the video when I bought the fenders they were the last ones in box from Nissan in the US. The Kouki wing I sourced second hand as they have been discontinued for years. Not sure how that's shady?
That would of been nice too know. Just found your page. Just hope I can cancel my credit card on time. They will tell you your transaction can’t be completed but will still try charging your card.
Dude, I can't wait to see this thing finished! It's going to be so cool!!
Thanks Rod, appreciate you!
got an SR in mine man, you won't regret it!
hell yeah man, I'm stoked to experience an SR!
Unboxing parts is the best part lol
Dude it really is! Haha
Man I seen you selling off some s14 stuff on fb. Makes me sad we didn’t get witness this getting done. This build is what I’m going for
Yeah unfortunately I did let the S14 go to focus on the S13, but don’t worry, the hatch is getting this same level of restoration with equal attention to detail. @ any eta when the vids will start up again. Love the s13 content as well. Just want to match that build level
This had been fun project to watch. I look forward to hearing about your drive train decision.
Appreciate you watching and supporting!
Good clean speaker bro subbed and along for the ride now!
Thanks for the sub! Appreciate the support
You are so lucky I'm looking all over for a s14 kouki wing
Keep looking, they’re out there! Just need to be prepared to buy right away and pay top dollar when you find one you want.
OEM+ FTW. Let's get it!
This is why we get along! Haha
Will you be installing an OEM bumper crash bar or going street fraction “bashBar” ??
I’d really like to stick with an OEM crash bar if it fits with a FMIC and the JDM bumper
wanting to purchase a s14 windscreen in Miami. Suggestions?
Oh man, I believe they have been discontinued by Nissan so you'll probably have to go aftermarket. Here's the Nissan Part number in case that help: 72712-70F05
I’ve done the sr20 with the cd009 trans which is great if your going to track the car. I would recommend the s15 sr20det with the stock 6speed trans.
That’s exactly what I’m thinking! The car won’t see any track time
Yes sr20 definitely. My s14a is currently in the body shop having kouki wing fitted with racing edition skirt (euro ltd Ed.). Can’t wait. Why not use the standard manual transmission? Good luck with the build

Helll yeaaaaa I wish i can find another s14 sold mines back in 2004 for cheap with really low miles lol
Damn, that’s a bummer! Hope you find another one
You should look at the s15 Silvia option b seats. They’re alcantara and come in 2 colors, 1 is bright orange and the other is blue/purplish. I think either one would look great in a all black kouki.
That's not a bad option! I'll consider that when I make some changes in the future
Where did you source all your exterior kouki parts?
They mostly came with the shell, which is why I bought it. Only thing I sourced separately was the JDM kouki wing and I found that used on Facebook.
I’ve been finding it difficult to find a good s13 or 14 for sale where do you suggest I could look?

Where did you get the front and rear bumper I've been looking for those.
OEM Part Specialties, link is in the description. Code “AVENGED10” will save you an additional 10%

I think you should definitely keep the Z with the 240, love the content on both, definitely a dream setup
Thanks man, I'd definitely like to keep both since they'll be built for different purposes and I do love the Z!
@@avengednick sickkk yeah 2 of the best Nissans built haha
What year and model is that subaru
It’s a 2005 Legacy GT Wagon
Where did you find the new oem wing? I've been looking to find one new or used for forever.

Just do an SR transmission with an SR20DET … just saying
That’s my plan at this point! Still researching 5 speed vs. 6 speed
