I drove down to Donnington with my kids aged 6 and 3 after listening over the radio. Just wanted to listen outside the gates. Gates had been opened. Police said OK, so we got on the back wall to see the set. Fantastic OZZIE never better. Cold evening fires and smoke blowing across the bowl. What an atmosphere. Kids wrapped up in blankets. Feel blessed.
For those perfectionists who have commented about quality - there were no mobile phones then that could do what you want - better to have a somewhat good camcorder video-I was at that concert and I doubt I could have done what he took - take it as is and stop being an arsehole - by the way i'm 52 so yes I was there !
Does anybody else remember that Tommy Vance came out and introduced the acts wearing a footballers helmet. A few weeks later he was interviewing Ozzy on his Friday night radio 1 rockshow, and Ozzy said "weren't the crowd at Donnington great" and Tommy replied "they were chanting Tommy is a...." and there was a moment of dead air when he realised that you couldn't say the next word on 1980s radio 1, before he rescued it with "... a mastabatorial character"
We went to the Monsters of Rock '86 in Germy to see Ozzy. Man, that Dude was Frekin' Awesome! Half his words to the Crowd was Curse Words "F'n Clap Your Hands!" Loved it! Ozzy has to be the Best at Pumping Up the Audience with His Feedback. Legend!
I was in Gran Canaria, pissed off, when this gig occured. I really wanted to go. I saw Ozzy at Sheffield City Hall in February 1986 and it was MENTAL! Crowd was that loud and crazy he did a SECOND encore of Over The Mountain! Only the 2nd time he'd ever done that in his career apparently.
I heard a recording of that Over the Mountain performance once here on YT. Seems to be gone now which sucks, I loved Randys take on the drumming on that track..

My first Donington too I was 15, Ozzy fab, Def Leppard was fab, was first gig after Rick Allen had lost his arm. Do you remember Lemmy storming off stage after someone chucked a flair at him. I was new to metal at the time so didnt know who the Scorpions were lol

There's something about many of Ozzy's music's intro. We find this in the songs Never Know Why, Mr. Crowley, Centre of the Eternity, Perry Mason, Diggin' Around, and any others
I thank you for sharing but instead of recording the instrumental part of the drummer, i would have recorded more of the songs that are sung. Never know why was cut all of a sudden for instance...I suppose something must have happened that impeded to record the whole stuff
Simple answer : This must be Castle Donington, England because Ozzy headlined the festival instead of Nuremberg and Mannheim where the Scorpions headlined it and as you can see it's very dark (not only the music).
