One of the tricks you may have heard of with the turbo Buick community is to put a lock-up switch in the ashtray or somewhere accessible. It's actually fairly simple to do and you can lock up the converter manually if you want better gas mileage. Even if you forget to unlock it while coming to a stop, it unlocks during first gear. There are people claiming better E.T. in the quarter at the track with the converter locked up as well. Basically turns the car into a shift-free manual transmission with no slippage
Nice addition Joe. You now have the best of both worlds, (3.42 and OD), and calibrating the tranny with the vacuum sw just makes it even more fun to drive. "Almost" as much fun as a stick. :) (Thanks for posting)
456 is better with 27 inch tires better e.t. original pressure switch use relay and brake light switch to trigger. Extend TV cable to accommodate carburetor location. With a quadrajet make the pulling device have a 1.1in. radial swing starting at about 15deg. Towards the steering wheel. At a idol

200-4R is so good. The entire package makes cars SO much more drivable on a regular basis
I have a 2004R in my '76 TA (455 with 3.90 gears) and my cruise RPM is about the same as this. Best upgrade I ever did!
Nice im doin it in my 70 bird 455 with 3.73s, 😎💪😎💪

2200 rpm at 70 is pretty good! My 81 is running 2900-3000 at 70. That's where I usually cruise at on the highway even when the speed limit is 80.
@libertysgarage8411 what gear were you running
I truly have a soft spot for these cars after owning one !
Always been something about that RTS badge that i love.
KOOL im doin the same thing in my 70 bird 455 with 3.73s this spring. 😎💪😎💪
Do you know if there's and change in performance such as horsepower and torque?
There is better performance due to the gear change in the rear and the lower 1st gear of the 2004R trans. It has better acceleration off the line.

When you first started driving, why was the oil pressure pegged?
Do you like the 2004r better than the 350?
Have you done an MPG highway run?
Joe, just curious how this has affected your gas mileage in this turbo T/A?
I never tested the MPG as it was a customer's car. I will be installing one in my car and we can see how it does
