    Great tutorial!from the outside it looks like I have the same post. The trouble is the bottom disc with the hex key is rusted and won’t budge! I’ve used a wire brush on it and in the edges, plus put Rust converter on it too. I bent an Allen key trying to remove it!
    Next method I guess I’ll just have to blow torch the end….

    Could you measure the exact diameter of a 27.2 mm suspension seat post you have with a caliper? Such as Zoom or XLC. I bought an XLC and it is 27.1 mm instead of 27.2 mm and its wiggly, I would like to know if it is normal. Thanks.

    I have this exact seatpost on my Giant bike and my problem is that the top grooves for the seat bracket assembly have stripped. Do you know if the top part (with the black rubber piece that attaches to the seat) is removeable? If so, I'm hoping that I can replace that part instead of having to buy a new seatpost, since the post has low miles on it anyway. Thank you!

    Bicycles are interchangeable. I think you may equip a pair of cantilever brakes with a suspension fork having post V-brake mounts.

    • @RJTheBikeGuy
      @RJTheBikeGuy  10 років тому

      It's possible. But the cantilever brakes need a cable stop, that the V-Brakes don't need. So you would have to mount one somehow.

    The grease used looks just like standard lithium grease. There are so many "special" products which are just repackaged and cost many times the original product. I see no reason whatsoever to NOT (edited, sorry I wrote the exact opposite of what I meant! 🤦‍♂️) use lithium grease in this application.

      I agree wholeheartedly, and that's what I do. I've learned over the years that most products are multipurpose, so at home I deeply stock the basics and I use plenty all around the house, vehicles, toys, etc. without issue.

    Since the Ebay seller of this (?) seatpost and XLC (manufacturer) aren't replying I will ask same questions here:
    1. (Idea for suspended stem for handlebar) Why don't you modify the seatpost XLC SP-10 or any similar one so it can hold a handlebar, why are there no stems with same suspension and similar look? Why does for example the stem XLC ST-T02 not have a suspension (like the seatpost XLC SP-10)? If anybody here knows if this kind of suspended stem in general exists please tell me the model.
    I have the XLC SP-10 seatpost, 25.4x350mm, and figured it would work with few modifications as a stem too for at least my street comfort bike which has a cruiser handlebar with an angle-adjustable stem which I pointed upward vertically to ground. It would look nice, be cheap, practical to install (no need to change to suspension forks etc) and sufficent for comfort riders (or would it disturb the rider's balance/control too much?).
    2. (Suspension-adjustment) Does turning the bottom screw at bottom inside the seatpost pipe adjust suspension hardness or suspension activation treshhold? Is there a way to adjust suspension of this seatpost with this screw or other simple way?

    • @RJTheBikeGuy
      @RJTheBikeGuy  4 роки тому +1

      1. Why are you asking me?
      2. Yes.

      20 years ago some handle bar stems were like hinges and had polymer dampeners. Different colors meant different strengths. I thought it was a good idea, but they are no longer seen anywhere, as far as I know.

    You actually think interchangeability has something to do with bicycles everywhere in the world?

    • @RJTheBikeGuy
      @RJTheBikeGuy  10 років тому

      Not everything is interchangable. You have different sizes, different threadings, etc. Many bike parts are more interchangeable than they used to be. But some Campagnolo stuff is not compatible with Shimano stuff.
