Not to rain on the PVC parade but here is a better way. buy a steel portable air tank, these are usually 5 or 11 gallon. plumb it in line as needed. Mine holds 11 gallons of vacuum, as opposed to your PVC at what? 1 gallon?. These tanks are dirt cheap, I have been using one for years for my race car, then stopped racing and the thing is now just in the way until I realized it would make a kick-ass vacuum tank.

Vacuum pumps are meant to run continuously why would you shut it off even after vacuuming your chamber?
That's what the surge tank is for.
