First image that came to mind is the grizz running One Direction while Pat Mac is running the other after they sprayed each other.

I grew up near Augusta. Saw my first Grizz when I was about 4 or 5. Beautiful awesome creatures. They demand the utmost respect. Pat, check check out Doug Peacock’s story. He was a 5th Group Green Beret in Vietnam. He lives here in Montana. He knows Grizzlies.

I have only seen one Grizzly close up, it peaked its head through some low branches. It’s head was the size of a servers tray, and it’s front paws were like large dinner plates. It had a sniff then disappeared into the undergrowth. Worst thing about the 1.5m encounter was I never heard it coming or going. So silent for such a massive creature 🧸 beautiful though.

As a youth at the ripe age of 10, I had a subscription to " Outdoor Life", "Field and Stream", finished every Jack London book in the classroom, and had enrolled myself in the NRA.
"Outdoor Life" was ranked supreme in Grizzly attack stories, and calibers for bear defense.
High winds, moose hunt, sounded like a fox trotting in the woodline, and bears bulldozing right through groves of saplings. .......I always remember the story, how a charging grizzly at 4 hunters who with different calibers, were trying to stop a charging grizzly, all landing various hits, but ultimately it was a round to the foot by a 30-30 that turned the charging bear. ...They say if you wound a grizzly foot it will turn him on a dead charge .

Over the past 60 years, documentation has showed many handgun calibers to be effective against bears including 9mm in multiple cases. But the winner goes to .44 mags 37 cases with 0 failures to stop the attack. So I carry a .44 and practice with. I also have .45 super as an option as well.

I saw one in Wyoming walking in the background beyond a herd of buffalo, probably 100 yards away and it was huge even at that distance.

Known and respected Alaskan guide for over 30 yrs, Phil Shoemaker was forced to shoot and kill a grizzly bear to protect himself and his clients while guiding a fishing trip. His handgun in this episode was a 9mm S&W 3954, loaded with Buffalo Bore 147 grain RNFP hardcast ammo. He likely fired 8 rds, obtained hits with all. There are at least two printed articles on the episode. I copied and pasted the article

When I was 5 or 6 my dad and I where headed back to the car after we caught our limit fly fishing. We were almost back to the car and a black bear showed up out of nowhere behind us. Ended up tossing half our catch to it in the opposite direction lol. Coal creek, OR . That place was one of my favorites as a kid.

Glock mod 20 or Glock mod 40 in 10mm should suffice , not too heavy to carry in the woods and has adequite power, capacity and with the right ammo to subdue a bear.. also bearing (pun intended) in mind that shot placement is king

You can't out run them and you can't out climb them. Remember, mass in motion tends to stay in motion, think freight train. 12 gauge slugs are your best bet, if evasive actions aren't working.

Grizzly runs into Pat Mac - Grizzly apologizes and asks for Pat to show him the way of the Mac with some training and shooting training drills. - Grizzly now becomes hidden from public to ensure the government doesn't find him.

Moose are big and mean. Forget those antlers, it's their hooves that they hit you with and it's like a baseball bat to the head. My neighborhood has plenty by the river. Bull elk are pretty big also but they are generally cool. If they see you, they just move away.

The black bear that nosed up to mine as I was in absolute awe and fully joyed to be in the direct presence of the 790 lb tagged male New Hampshire king of the mountain camping with my two kids up in the white mountain national forest in the Lincoln Appalachian trails
I quickly lost sight of the camera factor and lack of distance feeling as if I was viewing it from my house and not a literal foot away til it stepped up onto our picnic table solid oak and bowed it six inches down while ducking under my awning off our camper that’s when it lunged an inch from my nose with its ‘ snout
Feeling it’s warm statement breath in the 1:am hour of cool July Mt air on my entire face and hearing my kids crying in fear was when it all hit
I backed up slowly maintaining my same 5’10” height stepping into the camper off the table top and closing the door finally safer.
My Pride of Spain 10ga double B SBS hollow pts holding 25% more grain than any 12 ga would’ve put a hole through the skull which was the size of Oprah’s fat liberal ass
He was not a democratic scumbag
He was an absolute gentle Ben and continued eating our marinated ribs staining his enormous bright white maze with burgundy colored sauce and pulled my cooler out from the underside of the table ,chained!
It ripped the table legs right off made of 2”x6”’s
It took all our bacon and walked down the Pemmigossette River Rocky bank into where it emerged
I have all of this on a cheap Vivitar cam corded I bought my daughter for Christmas and also on my Verizon VCAST phone both not recorded with enough light to see anything other than bright maze on his huge chest
However with my iPhone and other technology I’m getting it brightened to post the entire event properly with full audio
The next day I’m cooking untouched steaks and suddenly fly four feet off ground in air on my back
I see a round hairy ass bank LEFT and it wasn’t AOC OR THE SQUAD but looked like Bi-DEN as it took off frightened I realized it was another bear encounter only 10hrs from last one but this time I had physical contact with it bum rushing trying to eat our steaks
I threw a half steak in the path it arrived from for its ‘ valiant daytime effort
I don’t know anyone else that had physical contact with any bear and
lived other than zookeepers or cubs raised by animal lovers or Jim Bridger
Not a grizzly but big enough to put my 220lb ass down with ease 🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸

Then it starts ambush hunting the hunters.
Like to see a full sized Bear on an adrenaline dump. Crazy
