I love the sound when you kicked on the Bluesbreaker. I assume that would sound great with a Princeton as well, which is what I'm currently playing. Thanks as always, Korey!
@@JohnWDGTandTele Joyo Sweet Baby is like $200 - Chinese made I believe. Monoprice has one too. Also, I hear they are a fun kit to make from Mojo tone or stew Mac!
I use a Joyo/Fame Sweet-Baby-Champ clone modded with a 10‘-Jensen speaker and a 12ay-preamp tube for mostly jazzy stuff with some pedals. It‘s loud enough even in a Bigband Setting. And with a mic on bigger stages - absolute no Problem to keep up with the Rest of the band!
Thanks for the video Korey...how did you have the champ set up on stage? with drums & other instruments did you have it coming back through the monitors?
We all had in-ear monitors, but I’ve used it on many small to medium size gigs as well up to about 1000 capacity with just a stage wedge helping out. Really the only difference between a 5 W amplifier and a 50 W amplifier is twice the volume, it’s not 10 times as loud, you’d be surprised at how loud a champ can be on six or seven!
Got two old ones, a red knob and a silver face? They both have circuit boards vs point to point. They sound ok but need more modding to get what I desire in tone. They are both barky sounding. I also have two Epi valve Jr’s modded with new trannys etc etc. Nothing beats my Peavey classic 30 though.
Can I go wrong with any of them, the Victoria is darker, sounding less boxy due to the slightly larger cab, the Swart has its own vibe going on and is less background noise and hum to the better and more meticulous wiring, but only one of them says “champ “ on the front, which kind of makes me smile when I play it.

Love my 5 watt tube amp. One rectifier, one 6v6 and one pre amp tube. Sounds great and simple to maintain and cost of tubes is minimized. Great video. ✌️
How many of you have played a Champ? What are your thoughts?
Got a tweed blues jr IV & totally love it. Might have to grab a champ. Thank you!!!

Thanks for this video Korey! I've been waffling between a Champ and a Princeton.
Both are fantastic amps, just a different vibe!
Thanks for showing it clean. Are there other less expensive champ style amp options that you could recommend?

@ thanks! You know I have an old practice amp that is around the same size. It might make for a good cabinet and speaker if I decide to make my own.

That recital was 🔥, was that mostly improvised?
Yup!
I just got a smaller amp. Its a Headstrong Santa Cruz.
So what is your preference? Fender? Victoria? Swart? Or you can’t go wrong with either one?

You mentioned you have bought 6 , are they really that bad quality?

I love my Champ ! So does my back …😂
That’s the best part!
