      Thank you for the kind comments, yes your husband wants to be very careful as I am still in hospital now recovering from a discectomy operation. It was very tough on my back as I put every minute of my spare time into it. Ask some family/friends to help and just take your time and enjoy the project. Once finished it will be there for many years for you to enjoy! :)

    lovely pond and how do u manage to keep water clear, mine is covered with algae, even though I have plants, i have umbrella up at times to keep in shade and I've used barley straw.

    • @mothballjim
      @mothballjim  9 років тому

      A BIT OF THIS AND THAT Hello, I use a very big pump and filter, one that is designed for a much bigger pond. I also only top up with rain water from a water butt and have a lot of oxygenating weed in there also. The location is in full sun so that isn't a problem. Hope this helps!

    • @Boergy01
      @Boergy01 9 років тому

      +A BIT OF THIS AND THAT
      What do you need is a pump/filter sytem with an UVC lamp inside. You can get them for 50-120 € depending on the size of your pond. Always remember when buying, if the pump is designed for a pond size (xxx l.) you must double the pump size if it is a fish pond. Works perfectly. ultra clear water cause the UVC lamp is killing all algea in the pond.

    How often need to changed the water...?
    Any problem in winter season for fish...?

    • @mothballjim
      @mothballjim  7 років тому +2

      +Orchid Htang I try and change the water once a year when I clean all the filter etc but that's not essential. If you do change the water try and fill it back up with as much rain water as possible. That way it won't stay as cloudy for long and it's better for this fish. Winter season is fine, with the water fall always flowing it means that the top will never fully freeze over.

    • @duffgen62
      @duffgen62 6 років тому

      Can you explain about your water filter and how it was fitted please. Also, I've seen other videos where they put a carpet or sand down before adding the liner. It's refreshing that you didn't do this but any problems with the liner?

    • @mothballjim
      @mothballjim  6 років тому

      Psychotube Creations It’s never rained enough to cause me any concerns. The water is always naturally evaporating quicker anyway due to the waterfall

    i want to make a natural pond, i want to use the lining then cover it about 1 feet of soil so natural plants n plankton could grow!
    is it doable???

    • @mothballjim
      @mothballjim  4 роки тому

      100% do able, just make sure you do it properly so that no mud is able to fall in the pond

  • @ziljin
    @ziljin 7 років тому +1

    Does it ever overflow from heavy rain?

    • @mothballjim
      @mothballjim  7 років тому

      +ziljin Hello no it's never rained enough to cause this issue. Also due to the waterfall water is slowly evaporating everyday anyway so if we didn't get unusually heavy rain for a long while there is room before it reaches the top.

    • @leirgauk
      @leirgauk 9 років тому

      MyFishCare You're simply more sociopathic than other humans. You can't help that. But there are some excercises people like you can do to invoke empathy: imagine YOURSELF in a VERY tiny prison cell (fish actually swim GREAT lengths over a very big area). Is that a life worth living, even with free food and protection from mugging, car crashes and terrorist attacks? Think of all the things you miss out on! It's the same with the fish; adding some rocks, plants and a tiny diver doesn't improve its living conditions as much as you like to think.
