Was a Punatic from the 80's to late 90s. I.had a small video production office next to.Luquins, The Mexican Restaurant that burned down a few years back.along with the Akebono Theater. I still have digitized videos of Pahoa and the shops residents hanger ons etc.
The day I discovered Punalu'u was one of the sweetest surprises of my life.The palm trees rooted in black sand with the ocean foaming over mesmorizing black sand made me feel as if I were transported to another galaxy.There was a mystical magical magnetic pull which transformed the experience into a mermaid exploring the new birth of black sand virgin beaches.The green horn billed sea turtles were delighted to be swimming alongside jubilant children. From a distance you could hear squeals of joy.
My son and I visited that area last October and as I sit here looking at tons of snow at home, this video made my day. We stopped at all of those places and others.
Hello! I stayed on the big island a couple of weeks ago in Keaau. I loved it so much. I went to Pahoa and explored the surrounding area several times during my visit and your footage of the roads and beach-side views vividly reminded me of how special the place is. Thank you for the videos and narration - I’ll be watching (and rewatching) them in anticipation for my next trip! Btw I read the comment about your father and I wanted to express my condolences for your loss and respect for your move back to the mainland to take care of your mother. I hope you can find your way back to paradise or create your own version in the future wherever you may be. Mahalo🤙🏽
Appreciate you sharing puna, I was born on the big island and raised my whole life in puna. Alot of natives of Puna don't like tourists but only because they don't come some respect for the area. Some do though, but they gotta understand you get respect if you give respect. Don't leave vehicles unattended In Alot of areas, no expensive belongings out in the open in your vehicle, pull all the way off the road, pick up your trash. And if your not sure you should be in an area, ask respectfully. Besides that brah, enjoy 🤙
More to come! Just been on a hiatus. Lost my Dad in Sept. and now making life changes. Moving back to where I grew up in Salt Lake City to live with Mom and take care of her.
