Technically speaking, they did kill the child. He just came back to life due to magic. Either way that’s not the point. There is a message behind the cycle of violence in the game. The point isn’t that they were wrong or right, but rather that revenge is not the way to move forward and grow. Instead the goal is to move past vengeance, even if it is more difficult to do so, because it will lead to the betterment of yourself, and the world around you. It’s the philosophy of Wudan. Further context for the bosses if you want to read Fajar is suffering from a severe illness, hence why he’s mute, his mind is addled by drugs, and is clearly unwell all around. Kuroki feels extreme guilt because of what she did, and has her time reflecting her sense of guilt. The museum exhibit is literally all about dealing with feelings of loss, and anger. AkA her art is a reflection of her act of revenge, and wether or not she truly feels justified, and can move on. Yang was desperate to save his wife and child with Sifu’s medallion, but his master refused him and his family died as a result pushing him to seek revenge. What if it was to save the person you love most? What if your master refuses to help you? Would you consider your family’s death inevitable or would you believe that your master, refusing to treat your family, essentially killed them? Ying Fang’s whole motivation was taking down all Kung Fu masters, because like Sifu himself, they were hoarding the mystical powers that they could use for the betterment of the world, but instead kept it for themselves. Her detective file tells us she’s incredibly philanthropic, so we can assume the suffering of others is something that is extremely important to her life. We don’t have a full sense of what happened to her in the past, but we can tell from her old age that she had wished that this knowledge was shared for a long time, and Yang’s revenge on Sifu was an opportunity to do the right thing, in her own way. The only one I don’t quite understand is Sean. He’s by all means motivated purely by the thrill of combat martial arts. His body is covered in scars, and he brands his students when they graduate. The only thing I’m willing to point out confidently is that, in spite of his outwardly violent appearance, there’s something to be said for how much respect his lackeys hold for him, since they go through hell for his approval, and even if they’re serving someone else like Kuroki, they reference their disdain for how you took down their master. One last thing. Consider that, in the same way you took down all 5 bosses, and they were heads of their own respective empires, they did the same thing before you came along, at least if we can take the list from Ying Fang’s list at face value. Consider also that while you’re a one man army, they don’t posses a mystical talisman that allows them to come back to life. TL;DR : Sifu is about learning to move past revenge, and there’s a lot of hidden lore behind the masters/bosses which illuminate reasons why they all decided to kill your father.
