Good informative video, I have been thinking of getting a radio similar to that one, as these days you done know what is going to happen next. The thing I like about many of them is that there are a lot of ideas installed into the radios making them worthwhile to buy in the first place.
I have been looking for a portable solar/hand crank radio that has a mic and CB, some have short and long range but no solar. I also think these emergency radios should solar and crank at the same time for a faster/stronger charge. The main thing is radio and communication, not flashlight and charging things. The solar and handcrank shouldcharge the battery, and even charge your AA batteries if they are rechargable batteries. the crystal display is nice and used min power, but they can get moisture inside, especially bad weather. Knobs are better, as you can find some tool to get a broken one turned.
I purchased one of these for my Bug Out Bag for my big truck. I love it I just wish they included the AC/DC cords. I travel to most of the 48 continental states and through every kind of weather you can imagine. I think that the FR360 is worth every penny I spent on it. Keep up the good work. I purchased mine from Lowe's.
Totally! I just ordered the Eton Axis, as i read it is of better quality, although it doesn't have the solar charging part....BUT, i also ordered a wind/solar charger, a solar Powerstation with Air Compressor, and 2 crank lanterns....all FREE with my Air Miles!!! LOL Gotta love free!!! Good luck finding a lava lamp....and seriously, you will be amused for HOURS watching that thing!!!
@fredhart great review would you think this would be a good Christmas present, i heard this has a sort charge/ very very short battery life / re charge life
Fred, have you had a chance to compare the FR160 vs the FR360? I have both and, atleast with mine, the FR160 works much better as far as solar power is concerned. The FR160 worked continuously for about 8hrs in sunlight while the FR360 required a crank every 15 mins or so even in direct sunlight. Thanks.
I had a crank freeze up on a flashlight, a couple years ago. I will never rely on a device with a crank. Good name brand batteries now have excellent shelf life and can be replaced or used by the shelf life date.
Great review, but I have a question. Will the solar panel charge the cell phone or only the dynamo? I checked the ETON website and could not find any specific info.
Do you know if these are still made as I would like one. Please let me know what store these are sold in. This looks like a handy radio with several functions.
i assume that you never lost power for an extended amount of time.i went 4 weeks during an ice storm that covered the whole north east corner of my state.4 miles of snapped poles lets you know its nice to have that radio that wont need batt.s since you threw it in the emergeny box in the closet 2 months ago.my generator was small,so the fridge,2 lamps,t.v. and a box fan 4 the wood heat was all I would run.i used that radio ALOT.poooring gas in the dark sucks.
Thanks for this video. I picked up the radio five years ago in a garage sale and into the closet it went. I like the cell phone charge feature. Is it possible to get a phone charge if the radio is in direct sunlight?
My radio is still working but the case has become sticky and many of the button labels warn off. Can anyone tell me what the button detents are? Smaller knob on the opposite side of the flashlight.
I can rig up an electric motor and a rubber band to crank this radio that way you wouldn't have to manually crank it..of course this is counter intuitive when all you'd really have to do would be to plug it in..you can plug this radio in right?
helpfull hint do not keep it charged if there is an EMP it will cook the system I have 3 of them a small portable one and 2 like the one you have one I keep charged the other two I do not but I keep the batteries near by them
Thank you for this video... I'm one of those ones who doesn't like to read directions and yeah... I was cranking my arm off because I didn't know the cell didn't come plugged in. lmao @ myself
can I ask..why exactly would anyone actually need a radio like this? it looks like it was designed for camping..I can't think of any other reason for all of this "crank" stuff
I just found one of these at a thrift store for $3.50. Thanks for your video. Now I know how to use it. It works well. Great find!
I bought one of these at a swap meet a few years ago, and your video helped me a lot Thanks from México

You got that right!
Excellent video. Thanks so much. I found this by chance at a and hand store for 3.99 and I was surprised wth all the features it had.

Don't know if I'll go with the eton but I'll be definitely be buying a solar radio after this review.

What does the first comment in your point mean?
Great review, but I have a question. Will the solar panel charge the cell phone or only the dynamo? I checked the ETON website and could not find any specific info.

thx, C Crane Radios so these are the best??
Say, would you allow the phone to die, and then see about that charge? I'd like to see that. Another great examination, thanks!

Hey man. I am wondering what app do are you using on you phone that is showing the led letters and message? Just curious.
Can you charge the phone via Sun and/or the built in rechargeable battery?
GOOD question, does it?
My radio is still working but the case has become sticky and many of the button labels warn off. Can anyone tell me what the button detents are? Smaller knob on the opposite side of the flashlight.

Yea, you can but most people lack electricity when there are outages unless they have a generator.
@biguy525 is that why I don't read them?

I always ask why these companies dont include a cover for the solar panel..those things once they scratch their done

Well, when there hurricanes, snowstorms , winds that take out the the power, then these are lifesavers.
Find nothing about function of the Cell button. For what is this button
Otmar Reisinger I believe that when you press the Cell button it will charge the cell phone not the internal battery.
***** Thank You vor Information
