Charlie while you’re in the South please visit Asheboro, NC. I grew up there and can say its easily one of the worst most crime ridden violent towns in the country statistically. Pretty surprising considering the population there is only about 20,000. Lots of gangs especially one’s with cartel connections due to the abnormal hispanic population here.
“With a crime rate of 36 per one thousand residents, Asheboro has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 28.”

The folks I know from MS are kind, loving and friendly. They are known for giving charity and helping others more than the other 50 states. It's apparent that this person never stops to talk to them, just drive, look at and demean their houses and vehicles. If you want this to be meaningful, seek measures to help them.

I don't know about ' all that bad" that's not a choice that everyone would choose. Because of racism they are in a way forced to live like this. I would only guess that many of those homes have issues, either structurally, plumbing of electrical and they don't have the funds to address them. But sure there are some of the kindest down to earth people one could ever hope to meet. I spent 8 years in Mississippi so I speak from experience..

I think some of the migration patterns led from north and South Carolina to Mississippi, Louisiana, and TX as cotton replaced tobacco as the #1 cash crop. If the slaves then consisted of architects and carpenters it makes sense if they took the same building plans.

This neighbourhood doesn't look so bad, visually. If there are some kind of unseen problems like no water or crime, that might be a different story, but in general, this just looks like a 'poorer part of town'. And there's always gonna be poor parts of town anywhere. Frankly, this neighbourhood looks quite nice with it's big yards and towering trees. That's something of which Asian people (and I'm lumping in even Japanese and Koreans here) would be envious.

Your videos in various cities across the US show a common theme throughout the country. Poverty is everywhere at different levels and abandoned houses, housing units, projects, and neighborhoods populated by black people are looking like war zones while gentrification is happening in other areas. Crime is high in those war zones because of poverty while corporations enjoy the benefit of moving to various states that offer tax breaks and corporate socialism. Don't Americans hate socialism?
