Nice to hear that we're helpful Penny ;)
Going in February and you guys have been the biggest by far thank you
Thanks for the kind words Edward! We have much much more pre-departure tips coming up, hopefully it will be out before your trip :) Otherwise, you can find them all on the website.
We're thinking of going to NZ for our vlog, so this is super useful! 😁

In May. I only planned for two weeks. Maybe a bit to short. But it's about fun and relaxation
It will give you enough time to get a good taste of what Z is all about ;)
Loved your video. I'm an international student here and now I'm considering doing a 7-day North Island road trip. Have a budget of $1500. Don't if that's enough to do a couple of activities.
Hey Kanwar - should be enough if you use budget accommodation like hostels, make your own meals, and do some free activities as well. You can get a rough idea of costs in our article: www.backpackerguide.nz/what-is-the-cost-of-backpacking-in-new-zealand/ Hope that helps!
Thanks for the reply. I've been visiting your website and I'm absorbing as much info as I can. Really informative and helpful. I'm thinking to buy a camping tent and consume ready-to-eat meals during the trip. That should cut some expense from my budget. Skydiving is priority. And some other activities shouldn't cost must. I think I can manage in $1500, but will have to be very careful. Thanks. :)
Sounds like a plan! Feel free to tag us if you take any photos on Instagram with #backpackerguidenz and we'd be happy to share :) Have an awesome trip!
Hi guys great video! My couple and I are travelling next year to NZ. We are thinking about working there for accommodation and meals but since we are over 30 we cannot get a work visa. Is there any other possibility of volunteering or something like that? Best regards
Thanks for the question. As far as we know, you are not able to do this on a tourist/visitor visa.
talking about buget what is a good weekly buget to have in mind?
Hey Robin (Awesome name BTW!) That's a tricky one, everybody travels differently, we get by very well with about $300/week but that's because we love hiking and hostel/holiday parks and some weeks are thousands because well... We also love activities. We have a full article about budgeting for backpacking in NZ right here -> www.backpackerguide.nz/what-is-the-cost-of-backpacking-in-new-zealand/ that should help you a lot. Also if you are looking for the cost of a working holiday in NZ this article is for you -> www.backpackerguide.nz/what-is-the-cost-of-a-working-holiday-in-new-zealand/
thanks
For the 18+ card, can you get it if you don't have a NZ residential address
Hey Matt! You will need an address for your ID card but this can be a hostel (like when opening your bank account) Check out more info on how to apply right here -> www.backpackerguide.nz/get-id-card-new-zealand/
There is some error with your website today, trying to open it from different devices, and it gives me a whole page of "undefined variable error" . Would it be fixed soon?
Thank you so much for reaching out Mariyana. We are working super hard in trying to fix all the little bugs that followed the re-design. It takes a while as there are a lot of small fires to deal with :( If you could send us a screenshot via Facebook that would be super helpful. As per a timeline fro a fox, we improve it every day so maybe 3 days I'd say?
Can I only just bring cash when going to New Zealand ?
Within the customs limit, yes you can :)
Hostels 🤮, just buy a campervan!
Insightful! What do you prefer about campervans over hostels?
