I live just 2 miles off hwy 26 and about 30 miles from the coast. I pretty sure she is talking about the Necanicum river, good salmon and steelhead river. The local UPS driver had a Sasquatch cross the road in front of him on his dilevery route in 2021 which would of been about 7 miles from her approximate encounter. He said it was as tall as his delivery truck( 8ft) and dark brown hair. I do a lot of hiking all up and around this area and keep my head on a swivel and always take my pack of dogs with me .
Been to Black diamond many times. It is named for the coal and coke mines that were nearby. The cedar river watershed is closed to the public now and supplies Seattle with water. There is a day use area close by at Rattlesnake lake. Been there many times. The largest part of the cedar river watershed has been closed to the public since the early 60's. Less than 20% of the area is virgin forest with most of the rest 80+ years old. I caught my first trout (sea run cutthroat) in the lower part of the river. There were a series of bigfoot sightings in Maple Valley in the 70's when I was a kid. The lowlands are now mostly housing but the forest remains on the upper hills (Tiger/Rattlesnake Mt) with an occasional report. I have moved to E WA to escape the rat race of the major population there. The newspaper clipping being old does fit but doubt its authenticity of being true. I'm sure John Greene would have been all over it.

As long as these are genuine accounts, and not 'creepy pasta' made-up fictional stories, I'm all in.

Guy's these many accounts have to mean something here, especially the cop interviews , no playing here, where there is smoke there is fire!
I do better writing than speaking as I tend to not forget some details ...
