This is Fantastic!!! I was just telling my co-workers how fondly I remember seeing Storybook Gardens when I was a little kid. I remembered more miniature buildings that you saw from that train/tram. But I did not remember any of the live animals, people in costumes, nor the puppet show. Thank you so much for posting this film. Might be the only way we ever get to see it again. I always wanted to revisit it. But never got to.

Thank You. I was 11 in 1975 and I always remember that big clown with his head that would spin around. Just very neat things to see at every turn. Pretty enchanting. Seeing it from this perspective I kind of believe that even the adults were enjoying everything! Once again, Thank You for sharing, this was an important happy memory from my past. : )

I'm pretty sure we went somewhere around 1970-ish when I was about 5 years old. My recollections are not vivid but I do recall pining for Storybook Gardens long after our visit. This was such a great video to watch. I remember Humpty Dumpty, the Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe, Little Bo Peep, Three Men in a Tub, the train and, in general, the gardens and ponds. Thank you for posting this video.

My family always ended up skipping this attraction when we went to the dells. So I'm glad to be able to see what was behind that wall.

Very clear footage. Someone back then really captured the full storybook gardens experience.

I went there when I was little, but all the pictures must have gotten lost. It had to have been around 88 or 89 maybe. A lot of the figures were worn and I don't think any of the moving things moved at all. It closed not long after that. Watching this helped me remember being there with my mom, sister, and great-grandma. Thanks for uploading this!! :) Sweet memories.

Thanks for posting! I'm from St. Louis. My family visited the Gardens when I was 3 (1969) and 9 (1975). We have photos yet it's nice to see the video with the characters actually moving!

Thank you so much for sharing this. I am working on a short film about memories from the 1970s, and Storybook Gardens has been burned in my brain for 50 years! I had no photos to prove the existed. So amazed to see this footage. I wonder if licensing is needed to use a small snippet. Thank you

This is a great video! I went to this place in the late 70’s, for a kid at the time, it was fun.
I swear there was another “Story Book” place (smaller and not as flat) closer to the area with all the stores.

I miss Storybook Gardens. I went the last year it was open, and there was so much graffiti, lots of the paint was chipping. It was really sad seeing it in a state of disrepair after going for so many years.
