I can see why some fans wouldn't like this, it's too cheerful compare to what you normally do. But not everything has to be dark, it's cute and heart warming. Wanna see more, I can see this as a short series :)
I love what John Dilworth had to say about Garlic Boy: "I wanted to make a cartoon that would parody the American myth of the innocence of well-meaning God loving people who travel the world offering miracle cures or conversion. I also wanted to suggest that something is quite not right with this “world”. The town of Eyebright, where GB finally arrives to dispense his goodness, is polluted, abandoned and given over to factories working day and night. It is all very subtle and viewers do not notice these metaphors and symbolisms of the cartoon." You can find hidden messages in certain Courage episodes as well.
Garlic boy describes my life tbh. I relate to him alot, I wanna do good for people yet I get treated unfairly, still. Manage to smile after all the hardship ☺️ and im used to being alone
Oh my gosh, why hasn't this been approved and made into a full blown show yet ??? Mr. Dilworth, Courage has been part of my childhood for the longest time, it would be fantastic to see you coming back with this fun cartoon.
Hey Mr. Dilworth, thank you very much for all the hard work/art you’ve given us throughout the years. One could only wish to be as talented and accomplished as yourself! Maybe one day .... ;p thank you sir. Hope life is going as good as it can be for you.
2:39 Kind of reminds me of the raccoons from the, "Campsite of Terror" Courage Episode. It's cool to see other animations from an artist that made me feel his artwork, as opposed to simply watching it. Thank you for all of the years of hard work.
Garlic boy: the garlic tonic cured parsley's dad's artritides! Parsley: Yeah but his bones are broke, he jumed off the window.... heh, classic dilworth comedy :D
Garlic Boy. Hated by vampires, but loved by the citizens of Someplace. Well sorta... This is really engaging, and not in a sarcastic way. Now every time I look at a head of garlic, I'll imagine two eyes on it. With a gorgeous, goofy smile too!
I lost it whne her dad backflipped out of the window like a split second after feeling better. I just imagine him lying in the street riddled with glass and cuts.
Never saw this until just today. Feels like a pilot for a series. I'm curious as to how that series would have turned out. This episode is great stuff! The designs and voices of the characters stick out in my mind.
I really think he lost the rights to that show. If not it would have been a remake if not a movie. And I don't want to hear excuses about the old man voice actor dieing..he can be replace like some of the characters on Scooby Doo.
@@mr.november7456 dude, how cartoon tv shows are now and the amount of SnowFlake people... I don't want them to put a finger on Courage. The only ones I could trust are Adult Swim
This cartoon was kicking around in the back of my head for a while and popped back up when I saw ham hocks in the store and got em. Cooked them up in oil today and they’re pretty good.
i get the feeling you like old school diners because this aint the only cartoon you made to feature a classic 1950s style diner :P there cozy in a way to me.
If this cartoon would have been green lit by CN, probably Garlic Boy would have a crossover with Courage the Cowardly Dog and both of them are solving the mysteries.
another funny piece of art, of the master John R. Dilworth, in fact is ideal for a new strange series, of course, with his characteristic touch, so funny, so comical.
Had been waiting for the full episode for a long time now. Good to finally see it. And I always love the subtle references and weird little tiny things hidden here and there.
I love how Garlic Boy absolutely maintains being himself despite being in a grim new surrounding with cynical people.
The way that dynamic is navigated should’ve been reason enough to make this into a show 👌🏽reminds me of spongebob when they gave a crap
@@bigsmoke3844don't forget the ghost of Molly McGee
I love how we all just randomly remembered and went back to this cartoon recently
Yeah, why is that? Did someone tweet about it? I'm on a nostalgia trip myself.
Why is that so true
I can see why some fans wouldn't like this, it's too cheerful compare to what you normally do. But not everything has to be dark, it's cute and heart warming. Wanna see more, I can see this as a short series :)
It was kinda dark it was made by the same person who made courage the cowardly dog
This needs its own show, ASAP!

'It is all very subtle...'
I think the mature undertones are pretty obvious, perhaps not for children though.
"parsley's dads arthritis is all better!"
"But he broke all his bones jumping out a window"

Drexler Mcartney I kind of like how he gives people like fungus and parsley personalities like Eustace and Muriel
This is one of my favorite cartoons back then
So sad it didn't picked up. Good ol nickelodeon days
Garlic Boy is too pure for this world.
anyone else see this as a kid, remember it, and desperately google search to try and find it again?
yup

Blame nickelodeon from what I heard this series wasn't good enough for them compared to stuff like Bread winners or Pig goat banana cricket
@@vincenzogiordano9850 and ironically Fanboy and Chum Chum, which they picked over Adventure Time...and every other short found on random cartoons.
@@Densester thankfully they're getting a little better trust me
I was genuinely distressed when Garlic boy was sad. Poor Garlic Boy.

No wonder this cartoon had such a "courage" vibe to it.
i actually think all Dilworth's works have a "Courage" feel and vibe to them

I would've loved to see this back to back with Barnyard and the Mighty B
Goddamn, the nostalgia of Nickelodeon random shorts.
I remember seeing this on Nickelodeon on TV. Ah good old days😢
I especially love that Eyebright Diner has Olive Oil on tap.

Amen to that, brother,
Everyone loves Garlic boy
Tbh he kinda reminds me of spongbob, I actually love how john did this
This would’ve been a great cartoon series!
Garlic Boy needs a sequel.
I second that notion
Ahhh that tender little old lady reminds me so much Muriel, I love Muriel, greetings Mr. Dilwort.

A masterpiece ! Looking forward to your works, Mr dilworth.
Garlic Boy is hearby invited to all future functions I host or attend.

The creator of Courage the Cowardly Dog made this.
Yes
I wish this became a full season
This is a great cartoon to watch with the whole family.
The Creator of Courage The Cowardly Dog
One detail I like is that you guys put effort into having wind move the character's clothing.

That was a sweet animation. It made me smile all the way through. Good job! :)

He's a food version of spongebob
HAHA after her dad jumped trough the window i think he need a new garlic tonic, and some milk to fix the brokenbones!
I remember watching this at like 12:00 at night on old Nicktoons xD
This entire short feels like a story that Courage would write with Courage playing the role as Garlic Boy and Eustace not being an abusive asshole
I like this film, Mr. Dilworth. How I like this grand, quite splendid film of yours.
I remember this being in random cartoons a long time ago.
Garlic boy won’t have to worry about vampires

Fungus kinda is like a teenaged version of eustace
McCrae Cook because he IS Eustace
This is the only Stretch Films episode of Random! Cartoons.
While this is obviously an attempt to make a show, I feel like John Dilworth’s comedy and use of animation would make this show very interesting
Wow, I never thought I'd see anything else by Mr Dilworth. This is fantastic!
I have been looking for this forever
2:35 awwwwwwwww look at his face ❤ cute
Plot twist... fungus is young Eustace
Raccoons: we stole your cures!
