The airflow is actually down on Toyotas. You can also see this because the top of your filter is the dirty side. The genuine Toyota filters indicate "UP" to make them dummy proof. If you are using an aftermarket filter, it will have an arrow indicating airflow direction that you will place so that the airflow indicator is facing down.
