Multi Maneuvering is the best one hands down, I'm able to grapple 4x in a row then I have to wait a little which is like a 90% uptime to have the grapple ready which is crazy.
Farming the long range one on Fortress took me 49 tries, and I nearly gave up on the game. 37 tries to get Blair’s blueprint and still nothing. 20% chance my @$$.
Took me 3 days to get freynas enhanced cells 20% chance drop i did it like Atleast 60 fucking times i love this game but i can tell its still in development while ppl are playing it which is okay but for ppl like me who still have ps4 the fps bassically cries in hells tortue bc you lag so bad
Matt vastly different. The only one that’s vastly different is the mid air maneuvering one that doesn’t require an anchor. It just goes out to max range anchors in the air and then you grapple to that spot but the first the one that gives you three just gives you an extra gravel, the other one just gives you more gravel there’s nothing fastly different about them and are they really ultimates? I really hadn’t looked at them, but are they really ultimates?
Multi is deceptive because you need to use it differently. It works best with repeatedly stringing floor grapples which resets the jumps and double jumps between em. Gives you 4 in a row and you can basically fly/hover just over head for a long while. Hard to do at first but after a while it just clicks. My screen actually blacks out about every 45 seconds (dont ask) and i can still do it in most cases just off the timing.
I gave up temporarily trying to get mid air maneuvering and went to try and get a legendary weapon I had my eye on. First recon mission I did gave me long distance. I was like wait a second is that.... Not the one I wanted, but will gladly use it for now. Edit: And I got mid air maneuvering... I don't even know when I got it, was just farming kuiper shards to max the other one and saw that the tracking of it showed 1/1.
The case if you need three grapples, I mean you lose you have a longer cool down so when you use all three you got longer cool down less range seems like it we just more effective to use one of the other ones
incase you didnt know if you put the matching symbol of the hook on the sub skill slot you double the mod capacity gain. Instead of getting +10 mod capacity with a maxed out mod you get 20 (or so the hints say). I put the matching mod socket on with the +5 mid air hook and i get +8 to mod capacity. Think this increases exponentially just like other mods so you get more for higher lvl upto +20 at level 10

Didnt have it maxed at the time but the ingame hints (during loading screens) did state that at max rank your sub mod would double your capacity gains from said mod if you polarize it. Not sure if the hint has been changed in recent patches but thats what it said and as we know that is not true, it only gives an extra 5 points not 10.
You can use lepic for the fire void fragments as well..his nade one shots the fragment..and I’ve done the sterile one over 100x now with 80x on normal…needless to say..no luck
Know what would be nice? If the grapple just had infinite "stacks" and no cooldown and didn't need farmed mods to make it better. I'll give you one guess what other looter shooter had a stamina system for movement tech long long ago, and players complained about it, so the devs removed that. Yet this game which mimics it heavily...decided to not do that. Interesting. 🤔
I get what youre saying but doing this would invalidate all movement skills, and even Bunny if we could infinite grapple everywhere. Although as a separate game mode, this could be a fun idea to have. I personally like the grapple hook a ton. Tho if anything i would ask that they lower the base cooldown just slightly to make speed running dungeons more comfy

pointless to do. it only increases the infiltration timer. With a single modded Sharen you can deactive all the power units in 15 seconds. Then the boss has its own timer
defense has diminishing returns, it's max hp that's the real tank stat as it's a multiplier. Simple math every DOUBLING of defense is about 10% more actual defense....but every doubling of hp is actually doubling tankiness. Also when someone revives you or a heal it's 100% hp. So more hp the more valuable the revive. Elem resist is flat. So getting about 5k elec resist is about 20% of a hardmode bosses atk. and you would need about 8k to block 25%...in other words, this sucks more than defense stat. Also there's mods that are insane like recover 9% hp ever 2s on kill. If you have double the hp then you recover double the hp, ect.
I’ve tried getting it straight for two days and no luck, and 6 days on and off. Managed to randomly get long distance and multi maneuvering though so for now i’m sticking with the former.

I found grappling hook lies about distance x3 time grabbing hook 18m is 16m and 25m is 23m I tested
I got the multi maneuvering early on and thought "oh noice" then after a few missions I was like I'm going back to default 😂

also if u use the crystallization on the slot where the melee/grapple slots go you get an extra 5 capacity. so 85 total capacity.

I been farming the long rage for 3 days I couldn't even get it it's 1% chance for me and it's sucks

The floor is always close enough to grapple. To best use this one you grapple down, not up.

you probably chose the worst mission for the long range grapple. Fighting the boss took 5+ more minutes than going to Command Relay on Fortress.

Yes, it works mid-air, been caught on a cliff many a time and had to be in midair to get back to surface level

you dont need blair.. lepic + overcharge + grenade = fire damage. tried and tested multiple times.
So I have mid air grapple I’ve had it for a while and no idea where I picked it up at, but I haven’t even finished the storyline to get to hard mode
