- Here is an early Harry Lauder tune performed by him about 1912. Recorded before he became Sir Harry Lauder in 1919. A fun Scottish tune. Recorded on a 12 inch single sided 78 rpm record. Enjoy!
I am now 80 plus. My grandfather, Robt. Goudie, was Scottish. When he came to visit, his daughter, & grands, he would sing this to us. He was a great, loving man❤❤❤
My Granny sung this song to us it was 40 + years ago, i am so glad i found it and im learning what it means, love you GRANDMA may you R.IP
My dad had this 78 record when I was young, and we'd sing along with great enthusiasm! Memories of the song came flooding back tonight when I saw the new moon. I said to my wife "It's a braw bricht moonlicht nicht, the nicht." (She needed a translation 😆) The extended family would gather at Hogmanay and have a wonderful time singing Harry Lauder's songs. I treasured those times when my family travelled to be with my aunts and uncles and cousins.
Oh my! The last time I heard this song I couldn't have been more than 15, and I'm now just shy of 72. Don't know who might have sung it to me. This recording is superb - I can understand every word. Why did I think of "Ye can say it's a braw bricht moonlicht nicht" this morning just after I woke up I could not tell you either. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Hearts to hearts and hands to hands,
Beneath the blue and white we stand,
We shout, God bless our native land,
North Melbourne, North Melbourne.
Out we come, out we come, out we come to play,
Just for recreation’s sake, to pass the time away,
Lots of fun, heaps of fun, enjoy yourself today,
North Melbourne boys/girls are hard to beat when they come out to play.
So join in the chorus, and sing it one and all,
Join in the chorus, North Melbourne's on the ball,
Good old North Melbourne, they're champions you'll agree,
North Melbourne is the team that plays to win for you and me.
Memories of my Papa singing this to me as wee girl ❤️
And my mum!
It was a fun tune. I remember my grandfather singing it. Some irony, he told me his outfit was singing it on there way to the horror of Vimy in 17.
@@jimmyjambon9206 Wow!!!
Thank you for this! I was at glasgow international airport at a pub called A Wee Deoch an Doris just before the boarding gates. Now I understand!
Sir Harry was one in a million! I got my first 78 of him singing "The Wee Hoose Mang The Heather" in 1967!!
Lovely!
I play both piano accordion & B/C/C# button box and Sir Harry's songs are always very well appreciated wherever I play, even 100 years on!
My beautiful Grandma and I love this song ✅🎵

One of my favorite performers, singing one of my favorite songs…
There is a third verse, which I think he sang only once on an Edison cylinder!
Memorable.

My Dad used sing this when i was a wee lass

My dear past mother, a bonnie lass herself, used to sing this song after her third whisky.

North Melbourne
It sounds like a song for an AFL team
North Melbourne. Most AFL songs have originated from other songs

Scottish people have a little motor in their mouth that rumbles when they speak. That's what makes that silly sound
