Wonderful recording..... scratches and all ! One of the first songs I learned to play on guitar. I grew up in Milwaukee so initially knew this classic as a polka version - Frankie Yankovic - played at every wedding reception. It's runs through my head quite often ( the premise will never be outdated) so I gave it a Google. Great to hear the original recording and learn more about C & W pioneers The Shelton Brothers.
Joe Harris WW-One Vet. wounded in France, lived at Soldiers Home in DC. Used to visit clubs in DC like the old Silver Dollar, and pre-empted strippers blowing his Marine band Harp and singing BECAUSE,JUST BECAUSE. I was the house musician at Gallaghers Pub in DC during the mid 70s. Joe, in his late eighties, came in, hopped up and did this tune frequently Always brought down the house. Then he hopped a cab, went back to the Soldiers Home to bed. I'm 67 now and will always remember JOE HARRIS

Bob & Joe, my kinfolk from over in Reilly Springs, not far from Sulphur Springs, Tx.
Elvis Presley covered this song at Sun Records.....
Tight harmonies--you can tell they're brothers.
