Really? I haven't taken any music classes, but I can't say that I'm surprised that they suck. The computer science class that I took through Harvard University was terrible. I had to unlearn half of what they taught me.
Hands down one of the most educational, creative, invigorating videos on all of youtube, from the bottom of my heart thank you - A piano Teacher from London
I really have no words to describe how i love this because it's just amazing the way you can play in different ways and catch the soul of each's composer songs. I love this, really
I'm sharing this with all my art students. If an untrained person, (or even a trained person) can grasp even one of these 'style bullet points', they've opened a door through which they can engage with the composer! Thank you!
Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me! This video was really just a light-hearted attempt to scratch the surface of the surface of what these composers do, hopefully your students will enjoy watching it nonetheless, have a great weekend :)
This is my favorite style of video from Nahre, where she has 3 narratives going on at the same time: the composers say stuff through the call outs, she says important things with the annotations of whats she's playing, and of course what she is playing which is the main narrative. Add the little dog showing up every now and then. It's all so sweet and beautiful.
I don't believe for a single second that this was improvised. It was absolutely flawless, intelligent, original, and educated, but improvised - no way. Maybe arrived at by improvisation, but clearly worked out afterwards.
Oh, I wasn't so careful to check out before posting my own comment. But then again, I'm slightly drunk (took me a long time to write and correct all the errors).
The fact that these are improvised is amazing. I think I can tell which composers you like the most. Can't wait to come see you in concert when you're a huge star.
One of the best piano videos I ever watched and Lord knows how many I did. The essential features of the composers have been clearly pointed out and practically exemplified and plus I love the funny thoughts.
I was unable to post on your 16 levels of complexity video. So I came here to say I truly believe that bach, mozart and especially Hayden(he was very original ) would be proud of you and recognize your technical abilities but overall your musicality. What you create isn't just theory, it is music. It is enjoyable and has direction and form. You are truly a gifted person and I thank you for being able to take all the parts of who you are(much like music)and share them with us. You are able to communicate clearly what many people can go in circles attempting to explain. And I also recognize how you simplify these complex abstract ideas. Thank you for sharing your understanding with the world.
tchaikovsky wasnt much of a pianist? are you kidding me? that's like saying beethoven wasnt much of a pianist because his symphonys are so good - absolutely ridiculous!
Managed to make me laugh, be amazed at your technique, and think hard about coming back to the analytical studies of my favourite composers. THANK YOU!!!! (not screaming, just excited to find your channel haha)
I've mostly listened to Chopin's Nocturnes and have been wanting to expand my horizons. This is excellent. Thank you for introducing so many composers in such a short time. I love your editing and how you add text throughout; it really helps my understanding. Thank you!
I wish I had you as my music teacher, but you were not even alive ... but wait, you ARE my music teacher right now. Times have changed a lot! And a lot has changed for the better! So... thanks for teaching me!
This had me smiling with delight at your sheer ingenuity and skill in mimicking all these composers - can't imagine how many years of sheer hard work it takes to grow so knowledgeable and skillful. Obviously you are a professional musician but it's really hard to believe you actually improvised this - I doubt many could! ( at 2:25 the downward 'Messaien' passage sounded like the start of Rach's sonata 2 !)
Your personality and sense of humor are definitely conveyed through your improv. Very enjoyable to listen to and also a thoughtful exercise at pastiche.
I’m half way on the video, already impressed and lauthing in the same time. I’m also a big fan of Rachmaninov and Debussy, and i must say you nailed it ! Bravo !
I Like your Video So Much Nahre Soul you put every single technique into detail wording that make people understand it much quicker and easier to memorized! Best Analysis Video Good Job!
Has nobody ever done these "ion the style of" types of videos before? This is such a great idea, (and so well done), that I can't believe I'm just finding these! Great stuff! And, yours at the end was fabulous!
you have left me with a smile on my face (no simple thing as i am in the grips of a bad depressive episode). i especially enjoyed Messiaen and Glass, and your own rendition was especially delightful. thank you for sharing this video.
This needs more views. And the Philip Glass one... I hope Mr. Glass was listening... Anyways, will be fun to show my band kids this week before Thanksgiving since my 4th graders are learning Mary Had a Little Lamb now.
This is absolutely brilliant -- and fun! As a ballet/modern dance pianist, I often need to improvise in different styles. Over the years I've assembled a small collection of signature "licks and riffs" from various composers so I can "sound like Tchaikovsky" or "sound like Schubert" when needed. But you take this to another level. I just love it! I think the Scriabin one is my favorite (although the Schoenberg is also great).
This is a very excellent video! As someone with a jazz background who likes to quote classical music in improvisations these distillations of various composer's styles is nice and not often done in a concise way. Thank you!
I came across this video on fb and had to come down here to check more. Subscribe first and now will listen to some playings. Brilliant talent! And thank you for sharing it. xx
Yeah but this is a video about Classical-style improvisations. I think there should be more Classical improv videos honestly. After all, classical composers all improvised.
I´ve played piano since I was a kid and listening to classical music but never actually knowing the theory behind what I do. Sometimes I improvise freely after listening to something for a long time and have glimpses of styles I like. This video is how I imagine I sound like
Musically very interesting and entertaining... but the best was little doggie under the piano enjoying YOUR playing. Now that speaks volumes. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talents!
Wow!! A compendium of improvisational devices. Thanks. I was introduced to your channel by Rick Beato when you performed Prokofiev's 3rd piano concerto for him, I am happy to have found your channel
Greetings from Brazil! I am astonished by how well, entertaining and informative your videos are! They are excellent and I really do hope that you don’t stop making them. I have absolutely no idea how you improvise like that. After many failed trials, I personally can’t do more than hit some basic triads while playing around one scale, which gets frustrating very quickly as I have no idea how to develop anything interesting, harmonically speaking (even with some understanding of harmony). You have fantastic abilities! Have a lovely day!
Your series is a real treat for the piano lover! The deconstructions are a wonderful education for a self-taught drummer like me. I’m a Scriabin devotee and I love how you captured his wondering left hand which creates dark undercurrents even his most tender miniatures. More please...perhaps a whole video devoted to the unique Alexander N.S.?
I have to add my comment here too ! well ,you really know about styles ,you already grasp the essensce of each one of these composers , it takes time to know all of the specific characterístics that makes them sound the way they are !
omg, your Rachmaninoff and Scriabin styles were my ABSOLUTE favorites!!! And the Shostakovich made me die laughing because it's so true. 😭😂 Keep making videos and I'll watch them all!
I think this taught me music history quicker than my university music class.
Thanks! Not sure I deserve that compliment, but thanks! :D
Really? I haven't taken any music classes, but I can't say that I'm surprised that they suck. The computer science class that I took through Harvard University was terrible. I had to unlearn half of what they taught me.
bro music school demotivated me so much i started playing the piano at 17 self taught
Agamaz wow I often saw you on synthesia and piano videos...
You do.
All those composers were, like, super-mean to you, but I'd like you to know that I think you're aight.
Haha thank you...
But what about the little dog below?
Hands down one of the most educational, creative, invigorating videos on all of youtube, from the bottom of my heart thank you
- A piano Teacher from London
By the time you got to Chopin, I was genuinely smiling 😸
Thanks so much!! :)))
Same here. I shared it on fb and tagged my friend. Great video!
thank youuuu!!!
Chopin is my favorite composer
When I saw that D flat major in Shostakovich, I immediately thought of the D flat major fugue from his Op. 87, and bursted into laughter. Great video!

Nahre Sol you're welcome!

It's already a hit in our national capital! (That's Canberra BTW).

**Debussy hmm**
Dank Samosa hahahahahahahaha
Nahre Sol it would be awkward if you actually got that.
I love your annotations!!! So helpful.
Thank you!! :)
You scared the dog with Messiaen 2:25
and us
Messiaen is the best one
@@alejandrom.4680 Agree, even if Narhe didn't imitate his style correctly
The doggy got really itchy during Rameau
Chopin and Rachmaninov ♥
I like everyone.
HAHAHA I was just shouting LOW BASS NOTE! during the Philip Glass
hehehe
Wow, this is so perfect! In a few seconds you really show the peculiarities of each one... great work
Thanks so much!!!
You didn’t have to insult yourself so much, that was enjoyable.
"sarcastic waltz figure"
Soo good! Love seeing truly creative improvisation outside of the jazz idiom. Subbed!
Thanks so much!! :)))
SPEARFISHER You might like some of my videos ua-cam.com/channels/SpMkkWb9pSyY2jWmpisEMw.html
The Beethoven one is obviously inspired by Waldstein.
Thats completle right
hehe just went down comments to make sure no one else said it before i did (:
i was gonna say that too
I thought the scriabin was reminiscent of his op 8 no 12 etude just with chords as broken
Oh, I wasn't so careful to check out before posting my own comment. But then again, I'm slightly drunk (took me a long time to write and correct all the errors).

The Bach and the chopin were brilliant 👍
You make me want to get SOOO much better at piano!
I've recently got into classical music. Now I have yet another interest I can't share with anyone I know in person!!
I missed Tchaikovsky
Ah, yeah me too!
He wasn't much of a pianist though.
You just add cannons
tchaikovsky wasnt much of a pianist? are you kidding me?
that's like saying beethoven wasnt much of a pianist because his symphonys are so good - absolutely ridiculous!
Santosificationable it seems like all you know is the nutcracker suite. tchaikovsky not a pianist 😂
Wow Your'e awesome
you got crazy talent!
Thanks so much!!! You're awesome too, thanks!!
I believe this can go viral - very entertaining! :D
Thanks for thinking that way! It's really just silly but was a fun little exercise :D
LIKE Waldstein
Managed to make me laugh, be amazed at your technique, and think hard about coming back to the analytical studies of my favourite composers. THANK YOU!!!! (not screaming, just excited to find your channel haha)
Thank you!! What a compliment!! :))
Thank you for the hard work in this channel, great content! I just keep getting drawn to your other videos
I've mostly listened to Chopin's Nocturnes and have been wanting to expand my horizons.
This is excellent. Thank you for introducing so many composers in such a short time. I love your editing and how you add text throughout; it really helps my understanding. Thank you!
I laughed out loud in the office when it came to Shostakovich
I wish I had you as my music teacher, but you were not even alive ... but wait, you ARE my music teacher right now. Times have changed a lot! And a lot has changed for the better! So... thanks for teaching me!

That dog is sooooo cuteeee!
You are fantastic. Thank you for sharing this precious knowledge
Thank you!! :)
PERSISTENCE
The comedic timing in the Shostakovich LMAO
This had me smiling with delight at your sheer ingenuity and skill in mimicking all these composers - can't imagine how many years of sheer hard work it takes to grow so knowledgeable and skillful. Amazing
My goodness, you have such a deep insight into their pieces. That's really good! Keep it up Nahre! :)
Loved the Chopin one! He's my favorite composer by far. :)
Your personality and sense of humor are definitely conveyed through your improv. Very enjoyable to listen to and also a thoughtful exercise at pastiche.
0:50 Mary ATE a little lamb
I love it. Such mastery of each composer's style and idiosyncrasies.

0:43-1:03
I wish there was a full version of this so badly.
I Like your Video So Much Nahre Soul you put every single technique into detail wording that make people understand it much quicker and easier to memorized! Best Analysis Video Good Job!
I couldn't stop laughing while watching Debussy section.
Glad you got a good laugh!! :))
I love how you explain the techniques! Really awsome, a subtle way of showing of an extremely expansive knowledge of music
I want a full Bach version.
Has nobody ever done these "ion the style of" types of videos before? This is such a great idea, (and so well done), that I can't believe I'm just finding these! Great stuff! And, yours at the end was fabulous!

Hellyea
you have left me with a smile on my face (no simple thing as i am in the grips of a bad depressive episode). i especially enjoyed Messiaen and Glass, and your own rendition was especially delightful. thank you for sharing this video.
What about John Cage
Yes eventually 😊
Just put some 2 beat pause and that's it.
Jeffrey Wong just invent some nonsense composition that is more important in theory than hearing it.
He already put him in the video. You just didn't wait long enough.
This is wonderful. Such a sweeping scope of history in such a concise and playful way. Thanks.
This needs more views. And the Philip Glass one... I hope Mr. Glass was listening... Anyways, will be fun to show my band kids this week before Thanksgiving since my 4th graders are learning Mary Had a Little Lamb now.
Thank you!!!!
I love all of your videos! They are so inspiring! Thank you!
Chopin’s CHROMATIC TWINKLES ❤️🎇🌌
😂 love the Rachmaninoff one, especially the pulsating chords XD it really resembles him.
This is absolutely brilliant -- and fun! As a ballet/modern dance pianist, I often need to improvise in different styles. Thank you 😂🙏

Is it really improvised though ? It seems very practised and elaborated, to me. Great job nonetheless ;)
I love your videos, that Chopin improv was the best!
You forgot to credit John Cage, who's arrangement appeared several times in this video
This is fantastic! The Scriabin one especially really did it for me!
0:35 The Beethoven one is the Waldsteinsonata
It is clearly inspired.
@@silaskunkel3750 it is. Why not?
I came across this video on fb and had to come down here to check more. Subscribe first and now will listen to some playings. Brilliant talent! And thank you for sharing it. xx

What no Monk?
She should make one about jazz players like Monk, Bill Evans, Hancock, Corea, Red Garland and include Gershwin
Great video btw!
tatum as well of course, peterson, hines, waller
Yeah but this is a video about Classical-style improvisations. I think there should be more Classical improv videos honestly. After all, classical composers all improvised.
Alkan is missing as well
You're incredibly gifted, a real artist and a born teacher.
Beethoven and liszt is best!
Chopin daha iyi bence.

isn't that what yours truly means?
You're incredible. One of the most talented improve Pianists I've seen and obviously well-studied.
no Salieri, no fun...
Great stuff, love the little text bits pointing out the stylistic elements!
Thanks so much!!! :))
Musically very interesting and entertaining... but the best was little doggie under the piano enjoying YOUR playing. Now that speaks volumes. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talents!
I love this! The annotations are very helpful and I totally brushed up on a lot of my classical music history. Great video :D
Wow!! A compendium of improvisational devices. Thanks. I was introduced to your channel by Rick Beato when you performed Prokofiev's 3rd piano concerto for him, I am happy to have found your channel
wow you are so incredibly gifted. I´m always mesmerized when watching your videos
Excellent presentation and I wish I had a teacher like you when I was taking piano lessons.
I’m a stuffy classical pianist/composer and theorist/historian who was very impressed by this video. Job well done - loved it!
